Do the seriations give you a tactical advantage?

I think it comes down more to personal preference more than anything else. Serrations are generally better for cutting through thick course material like rope or clothing. They are definitely good for self defense but I'm not law enforcement or military so I'm not sure how much better or worse they are than plain edge. As far as I know the matriarch only comes with a serrated blade

A gentleman by the name of Michael Janich ( Martial Blade Concepts) has done some quite extensive ‘porkman’ testing (pork brisket/ wrapped around a broom handle/wooden dowel to the thickness of a human arm/ wrapped in thin and thick types of cloth. This was an attempt to simulate a human arm, with summer or winter clothing. The broomstick/wooden dowel was to simulate a bone, and to show if bone would be hit and if so would it snag on a hard material inside the meat and cloth etc.
He has some quite detailed descriptions of his results, I’m sure there are some videos that you can find of him describing his porkman testing and results.
There was a claim made by Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel knives. He claimed that he sees a 30% better cut with a serrated knife. It may be true, I honestly don’t know personally. Also, to be honest. I’m not sure where he gets the figure from, and he does advertise his own knives personally, so may be biased. I have seen cuts from the serrated versions AND non serrated versions of his knives and have seen devastating cuts from both.
I would say the same for the videos I have seen of almost all well made, reputable company/ brand/ maker made knives… both serrated and non serrated will have similar results if kept sharp, and even one result of good cuts from a ‘not so sharp knife’ when compared to a factory edge, but I have personally seen snagging from a serrated knife.
      As stated, check out-

Getting cut by a serrated blade is near impossible to stitch up cleanly. Just a fun fact haha
