  • A little look at some of our sights from the water on Saturday February 20th, 2021. We were not fly fishing this day at all. Instead, our goal was to help rescue stunned sea turtles and also survey the extent of the fish kill from the recent cold weather.
Fly Fish Rockport fly fishing guides launched from Rockport, Texas and covered the waters from Pauls Mott all the way South of Shamrock Cove. They were able to rescue two stunned turtles during the day, and drop them off at the A.R.C. facility in Port Aransas.
There were many dead trout, drum, sheepshead and redfish, along with countless amounts of baitfish and hardheads. It appeared that the trout kill was worse than that of the reds or drum. Fish size varied greatly. Large schools of fish could be found in marinas, canals and channels around the area, where the waters were a bit warmer.
While Fly Fish Rockport may call the Rockport area home, we also fish a number of other waters along the Coastal Bend. We regularly spend a considerable amount of time roaming the flats near Aransas Pass, Port O’Connor and the Upper Laguna Madre. Whether you prefer to sight fish for technical tailing redfish or work on newer fly fishing skills, Fly Fish Rockport can craft the perfect trip location for you.
