They burn easy. I've set two on fire (one while driving the Lowe, the other in my 780) shooting through the lower front plate with standard ammo. This was in just three matches facing 780s. Both burned for a while too, no fire extinguishers on board. Reminded me of the old German transmission burns back in the day.
Is lowe a good premium?
@@hesseleritus4763 I would pick the object 703 2 or skoda t56 if you want a premium heavy. Object has very good armor if you use it right, skoda has very good gun but less armor
Object 780 has its fuel tanks in the front, behind the upper front plate. So if you pen the front hull you will probably damage the fuel tanks.
@@hesseleritus4763 its ok nowadays, it was better back in the days. 703, renegade and e75ts are better heavies. Skoda t56 is broken as fuck but you dont have much hull armor

Whats better on the obj705A or IS-4 ? Frontal armor on 780 is better. Even against gold ammo.

Lower Front Plate of 780 is stronger.
And against Gold, Upper Front Plate is Stronger too. Check for yourself on Tanks GG.
@@DevouringKing 705 and is-4 can sidescrape. IS-4 has overall more troll armor. 780 has a bad pikenose that can be penned, and the middle cupola is weak
is-4 has way better gold rounds, 705 has better pen and its heat so also better.
This tank may seem like it's not the best, but I do think we should commend WG on this one.
1) Not outrageous gold rounds - Can be a problem occasionally, but I mean it can be worked around with decent play in most situations.
2) Not outrageously fast to speed the game up more - slow tanks can still do fine
3) Not outrageous DPM to powercreep everything
4) Defeatable armour, even with standard as the IS 3A showed
These are all things we ultimately ask for
Also - I think this sales concept can be really good, giving options on how to get something is always good.
And I definitely don't think this tank is underpowered, it seems fairly balanced with a slightly unique playstyle, it's certainly not a copy pasta of another tank.

Yep - it's a pretty balanced tank with strengths and weaknesses and has the feel of a heavy 122TM. And with not much benefit from gold it may not be as expensive to play as some tier 10s
@@robertpilcher9176 I can tell you: it is expensive when you do 1000 dmg per game. But a 3000 dmg game makes me profit.
Absolutely agreed, it needs few weeks so the hype dies down and community stops overreacting by saying that its trash bc its not OP or saying that its OP. Similar to how Bisonte was treated I think that with high skill ceiling this tank will be good performer and decent opponent on the battlefield. In few weeks we will get more objective opinion.

The main problem is the cost, the sheer amount of resources I'd have to dump to get this thing and still spend well over $100 USD on gold for free xp conversion and to cover the rest of the cost, just to get a *normal* tank, it's really not worth it, not to me at least.
Hey, Quickybaby! I’m a 44% WNR player and I only have 1.7K battles, yesterday was the day I got my very first top gun! It was on a KV-2 and I got around 2.9K damage. I just wanna say thanks you for some of the tips and gameplay suggestions you’ve given over the years, it wouldn’t have made it possibly for me to earn a top gun!

it could also be like the dog tags that we have now. like the player could choose to display total dmg or total dmg blocked or something
I wish they made the 279e’s lower armor overmatchable like this one so that they wouldn’t bump up against a rock and be invulnerable
They are not, even hull down you can still pen a 279e you just have to use the brain and not stay directly in front and spam gold to hit it. Here's a tip always stay on higher ground the 279e is very vulnerable to shots from higher elevations as its angle decreases it's effectiveness. Also flanking (I know ppl hate winning) is important and staying in front of a 279e is never the correct option.

Keywords "NOT stay and spam gold." You don't need gold to pen anything in WoT, only if you need to pen the thickest points and even then sometimes gold isn't enough. Better to fall back and get the sides or rear if possible or like they pointed out, get up top and shoot down into them as the top armor on pretty much all tanks in WoT do not exceed 60mm maximum as far as I'm aware

To be fair, I feel like the Rino is a bit like that. Sure it should not be in the back with TDs, but it can't really be aggressive that much either. And I feel a bit like that with the 780, although it is much easier to be aggressive with this one than the Rino.
At least it will achieve something. Just today I've played in the same team with 2 separate 705A's that had decided that their respective strengths were best served by playing a sniper/light tank hybrid. To say that the results were underwhelming would be putting it lightly.
With that lack of speed and accurate gun. No way in hell that is a “breakthrough” heavy. If anything it’s either a support heavy or versatile heavy tank.

I took a break fro WoT then came back last christmas for a time and I was shocked by how many tanks would sit at the back now, and I'm not talking about the STA1 or Leopard PTA but the Russian brawlers. So after I got Arnie, I went back on break from WG.
What this game doesn't need is bonkers tanks that cant be hit anywhere reliably, or are a speedster on crack while dumping their magazine for a tanks worth of damage.
a sniping Heavy is the least concernthis game has. A tank that can just trundle along and shrug off every kind of shell regardless is far worse.
I wonder if WG will buff the underside armour up from 30mm. When the 279(e) first came into the game it had this problem too with 30mm on it's underside that was buffed up to 55mm. Wouldn't surprise me if they give the 780 the same treatment.
It's how it was actually counterable now people just wedge it up and laugh. That really was the buff that made it into the annoying shitshow it is
Last thing this needs is a buff... whales need to be punished.

Also keep in mind also us long term players who didnt spend much just play since 2011 got this tank. So it was to be buffed its not only whales who would benefit
it's view range and camo is top of heavy, so later in the battle it could spot for the survivors quite well. Like a medium on steroids. Not OP but this can be used nicely. Also the accuracy from way bigger distances is nice, and that distance also protects your weak points too.
Unlike you, I like the way they've decided to sell it. It is so much better than another overpowered tier 8 premium.
Unique tanks > op tanks imo. If you are afraid of missing out and feel like it is a shore to wake up early, well that's your problem because nobody is forcing you to buy it and you won't be in a disadvantage if you don't have this tank in your garage.

I found this tank to be good in two particular scenarios. Great as a sniper. But also amazing as a face hugger.
The heavily angled upper plate makes it really difficult to pen, and if you're moving the gun around it can make it difficult to get a clean shot on the weak points on the turret
why shoot the upper plate when you can pen the turret with gold rounds?
Upper plate cant bounce when facehugging. Your enemy will just simply aim down on it
Face hugging doesn't work because the upper plate is thin as paper, so any tank with enough gun dep will be able to pen it easily.
@@goodguyjack I've found that even against tanks with really good gun depression that the angle the upper hull is on seems to bounce their shots.

For once, I think WG have released a good tank. It is good, but not OP. Gun feels nice, armor is decent but it has several weak points. Please don't lambast WG when they actually release a somewhat balanced tank. No buffs needed, and I say that as one who got a numbered version of it.

I could have gotten this tank, but it would have cost me everything I had on my account to do so. I'm really glad I didn't give in to the temptation. Especially now after watching this review, I feel I made the right decision to let this go instead of crippling my account to get it.

It’s weird coming back to watch after over 7-8 years
one might take the grousers instead of the turbo. Your effective topspeed on hard will be lower - however you can gain a a little on medium and soft! Moreover the grousers give you better traverse than the turbo and thus might actually be better.
Hey QB, what do you think about dropping the turbo and replacing it with additional grousers? How would that affect the ground resistances?
This thing has good engine power so turbo works well. Best tanks for grousers have low engine power.
My experience from yesterday was pretty much the same: you can't side scrape reliably. The enemy will pen you more often than not.
Tank destroyers such as 103B can hit turret weak spots even from afar without too much of the issue.
I think that gun is the only really good thing about it.
All in all an ok tank, but way overpriced(in retrospect)
But WG knew this-so they didn't give it to CC for review
WG will have events like this to remove credits and gold from holiday ops boxes so you buy more next year.

Still very fun to play. Feels like an all rounder. Haves the gun, haves to mobility and have somewhat decent armor.
It's funny to see how the small coupola gets flagged as "a huge weakpoint". I know it's only because that's the norm nowadays but I remember when the same people were outraged by the small 430 coupolas and the removal of the overmatching point on the 140's turret.
The tank is just another IS-7 to me, scary against tier 8s but gets shredded by tier 10 gold spam and it has no other distinctive features. Yes, 530 alpha is great and it feels good, but it's not special anymore. I'm actually happy for this monetization, the number does not provide any benefit but it has big prestige so please do more of these. Getting up in the morning and having no previews by the CCs is just a big fomo generator, WG knows how to sell their average tanks for incredible prices.
Overall I don't think we needed another hulldown soviet heavy but at least it's in tier 10, where the mm has already been dominated by chiefs so it's the least damaging. Imagine a second PZ2J or KV-220. In tier 10 enough gold is flying around to couter this tank's quite trollish armor.
It doesn't have prestige for the schmucks who buy it. At best it's embarrassing, unless you are a Putin fanboy.
Except the IS7s turret does NOT get shredded by HEAT.

im glad its not OP as i thought it was, neither is it bad, it has weakpoints that isnt just the cupola and that is a tiny one. why complain about the weaknesses? i thought you wanted tanks to have weaknesses? i certainly do, you have to play carefully to make the tank work. a russian tank with frontal weaknesses is rare and should be praised.
I logged in the second the server went live, there was a que to log into the server for a few seconds, I brought it in about 30 seconds as I had everything ready, still ended up with number 7533 even though it was only a few minutes from when they were available. .
My server had a queue too lol I was like welp this is a first

The questions asked at the end is an easy answer, had the CC tried the tank and the reviews went like yours, wargaming would not have sold the tanks as quickly as they did

I love this tank, it has the right amount of weak points and when I am playing it, I don’t feel like I am clubbing seals even against Tier 8’s and 9’s. It goes on fire all the time so modified configuration is a must even with preventative maintenance. Thank you wg for not releasing another Chieftain like tank.

I personally like the tank. The fact that it is not OP at all, and yet, seems like it can still be competitive makes it all the better. I personally like tanks that are not OP and yet, feel balanced. This tank has good all around stats, yet, can be countered by knowledgeable opponents, something that even the 279e cannot claim, which seams, even if you are good, can still be a massive threat just due to how OP it is.
But, at the same time, I can see how "balanced" is "boring" to others. Cause it basically means, that unless you get lucky with the draw of the teams, you really cannot bully others. Though, to me, bullying others, is not fun. It's boring to me to just steam roll people.
On the other hand, I personally like the way it looks. And, yeah, I feel they need to fix the burn issue, was to easy to burn. Played a few matches, every match, I got put on fire.

One does not need a tank to understand how overpowered the tank is.
Seems like the Tiger II problem I had at tier 8. Tiger II has good standard pen and high accuracy, and decent armor, but the armor does a lot better at long range when you can snipe and they have a harder time consistently hitting the weak points they aim at. Sniping heavies are viable, but the matchmaker just counts it as a heavy, so your team can be left without brawlers that it needs.
It's a weird problem, but I think sniping heavies are weird in the first place.
agreed. anyone driving a heavy or light tank that wants to sit back and snipe seriously hurts the teams chance for a win.
I woke up 2:45 am PT here in CA and had hard time to log in after completing the update, I finally got it with # 16xx but due to the rush I forgot to use the blue prints so I used all free XP and 10m credits with 33k bonds. I moved the 5X skills crew from IS7 and got 545m view range without optic or consumables.
QB you REALLY need to be raising your gun between shots, here.Just looking at the model, it'll make such an insanely massive difference to whether you're getting penned through the cupola or not.
what did you use for the crew on this thing?
back from work got one but without those fancy numbers(quite bummer) but i don’t mind also spending 800K exp is quite okay me think. only play 5 times with max damage was 5600, so i countered this tank with my wz 114 tds. it was fun
got mine on NA,
after i updated an older PC with a slew of windows updates and got my WG client updated with 7GB of data, after 8am
and still got one with a camo... used a bunch of bonds and FXP
Yeah my computer took 13 minutes to do a 97mb update (yes, megabytes), and two more minutes to launch into the garage. I was five minutes late and ended up with 2348.

It does burn well easily, I managed to set alight one in my e-75
For the not tryhards the grousers will help more than turbo unless you have extra bond turbo lying around
(Yes I know there's a bunch more now just from the battle passes, but still)
Except you can't get the bond turbos from battlepass unless you pay for it, which means only the tryhard goldnoobs have it.
But I agree grousers will be a bigger help. You shouldn't be putting a turbo on this tank. Hardening, rammer, then either vents or grousers.
I tried grousers plus turbo. It feels like a med then.
the fact that the reload is a bit slower forces me to aim more my shots, it works well for me

Yes, was only a micro patch. But took me 15min to download/install it. And bam! Those 15min were exactly the time window for the 15k 3d style version. But it is as it is. 😄
there is a wierd glitch. on NA it says numbered tanks are sold out. but if you preview the regular one, it lets you switch to the numbered one. and you can click the "spend resources" button. but the number of tanks left is the un-numbered one.. but it looks like youre buying the skinned one.....
So if your gold are APCR you are not competitive against it?

I have met 780 yesterday three times in my Caliban. Penned its front hull with 292mm AP shells. It is possible due to height of Caliban gun on it turret so 780 front armor have less effective armor than usual.

Last standard obj.780 was sold at 21.33 UK time. So basically took 15 and a half hours to sell 50 000 tanks on EU server
Nobody seems to notice the large penetration drop off over distance this tank has compared to the other soviet heavies.
This tank can be penetrated yes, but somehow I have a lot of fun in this tank. You do hit where you aim. And if you have configuration, you don't burn. Also you reach nearly 3000 dpm with it. That's good! And to top it off, you have 7 degree of gundepression, even obj 260 only has 6 degree. 311 pen isn't much, but since you can aim at long ranges, you still hit all the weak spots. QB isn't a real heavy tank player so ofc he doesn't like it, but this tank feels nice even with only 2200 HP.
You don't burn on the first hit, my VZ55 feasts on these tanks, 2 hits timed correctly into the front glacis and the 2nd hit (After they used their Fire ext) keeps it burning (And yes I wait till the flames go out before firing number 2 so I know). Very good feeling to watch 6 tier 8 premiums worth of resources go up in flames on 1 single tank.
At 30:00 there is a lot of pens that never ever be penned and they registered it as a pen. That's corrupted RNG for u to show how it makes your team lose without a comeback. If you doing too much to comeback u get either ammorack exploded or set on fire or even tracked and ammo racked in 1 hit

this smells a lot like the Chrysler K but at T10. Good armour against standard rounds, easily dealt with when you load gold.

Is this tank essentially just the Tier IX WZ-114? I "could" spend money to get it but I could also use resources to get the rinoceronte as well.
A bit confused about the review, it almost seemed like QB was disappointed WG didn't ruin the balance of tier 10 even more with another Obj 279(e). Like, why is it a bad thing that it actually can be countered? It's still a very good tank.
Not at all. I think you can make tanks fun AND balanced. Look at the Caliban for example. When a standard is already set it has to be matched or do something new. This does neither imo outside of the NFT skin.
That side armor is funky was overmatching the side in a 705a who know

Hi CCast - I was exactly the same as you yesterday. I am a bit of a sucker for the 3D styles (and this one does look great) as well. I am glad I didn't go for it as I think I would played it for a bit and then it would be another unloved tier 10 in the garage ........ I think it wasn't given to people like QB as their reviews might of got in the way of the hype train. I am sure another similar tier 10 will be along shortly. Great way for WG to make money very very quickly though without breaking the game I guess. Or breaking it even worse.

I learned my 'I regret buying that' lesson the first go round when the T22 medium was first sold, I paid way too much for it and it's not even that good. This tank feels like it could be a similar situation

Sometimes money is cheaper than your time. I was tempted but resisted. It's just another Soviet heavy tank... I already have Obj 277 and IS-7 if I want to play Soviet tier X HT. And I don't play at that tier much.
To you guys that play WOT what would your thoughts on more modern tanks comming into the game? Things like the leopard 2s, abrams and T series russian tanks? Have never played WOT before so im curious

It’s so easy for QB to make this tank look so great. If we all were CC, able to fully max out your crews with training and skills, have gobs of gold, credits, etc, etc, we would all make this tank look as easy as him. No disrespect to QB I like watching his videos.
That's true, imagine having all the credits, equipment, gold, etc... You would be, almost for sure, way better player. If you are a player with 50% win rate or above, imagine how much you will improve your stats, plays, etc with a chieftain, 279e and other OP tank. QB is a good CC, i really enjoy his videos, but even I feel he is tired of many OP tanks every month, tier X is disgusting now. If you check other CCs videos or 780s replays, that weakspot is not easy to hit, and if you hit it, sometimes the shot magically bounces
dont tell me that ur not running your T10s with at least 3 or 4 full skills plus food and some premium rounds. Otherwise stop playing T10!!!
@@hdf31 The 4 T10’s that I have all crew members have 4 and almost 5 skills each. I just don’t play them much cause they are a little expensive at times and playing on the NA server and being on almost losing team really adds up quickly.
30mm belly seems oddly thin, going over a tree stump or something would likely heavily damage the underside of the tank
No it wont damage it, take a ruler and see how thick 30mm or 3cm actually is .

I really don't like these "load premium or go home" tanks and it seems we received yet another.
Its just simple obj 780 is positional tank thats why gun feels amazing, armor works as soon as ur fighting in distance.... coud be one of the meta tanks i think.

This seems like yet another perfect candidate for Grousers. Tanks like this that lose half their speed on soft terrain almost always benefit more from Grousers than Turbo. Quick check on Tanksgg seems like Grousers are nearly the same as a Bond Turbo. QB I feel like you often over look Grousers in favor of a Turbo. but thats only a minor observation because you make the best reviews in the biz!
@@Jules-kp7rw grousers assist reverse speed on soft and medium terrain. Soft and medium is like 75% of the maps.
No tank struggles to reach it's reverse speed except maybe udes. You're not right here. Turbo will be the clear winner for 780.
@@QuickyBabyTV idk qb.. I think you are maybe being a little disingenuous to say its all about the reverse speed. In your videos you always start with "to get in key positions faster" or something to that affect when talking about Turbo. Much rarer do you mention or emphasize the reverse speed. I don't think you mention reverse speed in the 780 video at all. And back to top speed, looking at the numbers on tanksgg grousers take obj780 to 43km on medium terrain vs regular turbo 42km. Only the bond and upgraded bounty Turbos push it over 43 near 44km. Also this ignoring the added traverse benefits from the grousers. I just think you are over looking a decent option with grousers and more over a worthy recommendation to your audience that probably can't always afford bond and bounty chargers on every vehicle.
Finally my long waited tnk is out I've been looking at it's model in tank gg and wot inspector for awhile time to burn resources for it 😍

and claus kellerman pointed out... enjoy the MM battles with T8 and T9 tanks... in 2 months you'll get 95% all T10 battles. when they first release a tank you get to fight lower tiers... after a few weeks they turn off the preferential MM
