I like how you try different builds, but it feels like controlling spacing is so hard without Rylai's.

Malza is for making pressure on mid by hard pushing and taking plates, then going for some side lanes ganks. In mid game he is for insta killing bad positioned carries and hard split pushing, making pressure all the time. Mission is to not get in to the late game.
One way this match could have been won is Malz would have had to split push. If he would have split push to the base, this would have made the enemy team send two to three back to base. The reason three would have at least came back because Malz ult could kill one and the dots would spread to the next one risking killing them to. Three back at base would guarantee a kill which would have left two on the map for objectives against a four man team. The problem was the team was pretty bad.

Does rylai work with W good when kiting?
I play him against hard matchups in top lane that my champ pool does poorly against. Gives me a semi easy laning phase or at the very least, allows me to be more useful to my team or the matchup once I get Rylais. Its all about the slows and silence in the team fight as well as the ability to ult the enemy hardcarry to save the teamfight.

Genuine question : Why blackfire torch? Is it just for farming? The damage over time doesn't seem all that great
Good build path, general good status and scale with AP. Liandry and torch are pretty good itens for malzahar because his E renew the effect.
Its better overall cuz every spell does more damage
Eh, the enemy team comp gives Malzahar trouble tbh. Not your fault. Everyone of them eats your creeps fast af. I would personally have gone Rylais second to give them more trouble being mobile in team fights as well as keeping them from chasing me in particular, but that's literally my go to buy, lol. (That's not advice btw, I know you have more exp on the champ as well as at higher ELO, its (rylais) just the main reason I even play Malz.)

God it tilts me when you play male because I love malz, but we have the weakest minions. They would be more like yoricks. They rarely get to the target.
I wish they would change his kit, maybe lose some power in his ult, but give his minions a leap ability that triggers when you ult. It's the worst feeling when you flash ult someone and your minions only reach the target when the ult is about to end...
