This is a tribute to the men and women of Rush- those musicians who are keeping the music of progressive rock band Rush alive.
Hi, I'm Dean Wolfe, a classic prog-rock guitar teacher on CZcams. I grew up on 70s progressive music but abandoned the genre by the 90s because it was too 'hard-edged' for me. My all-originals prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i went into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk and acoustic fingerstyle guitar).
2020 was the year of my return to prog and the discovery of 30 years of great music which I'd paid no attention to- until now!
I also will react to 70s and 80s prog that i overlooked, like gentle giant, camel, etc.

Props to the drummer who plays like Neil whilst singing like Geddy!
Indeed. That was a surprise.
The outdid lotus land in my book
My Bucket List includes going to Canada to see them.
Yeah man that was sick
To be fair (and they have a video about it) New World Men and, I suspect at least one other band here, use an equalizer profile to bridge the gap in timbre between Matt and Geddy's voice.
I got a little emotional watching all these good tribute bands. All of them are worth to see live.
I've seen Lotus Land, they're spot on. But any band that keeps the memory of RUSH alive is ok in my book.👍
There's alot of good rush tribute bands but I think lotus land is the best.
They absolutely are and they are true to form.
Amen!
Yeah, Lotus Land very good, so were so many others as well- super dedicated Rush fans are alll over everywhere
Just saw them in PA. Awesome👍
I have been a Rush fan since i was 10. I am now 54. When i heard that Neal Peart had passed It felt like my heart had been ripped out knowing that the professor and my favorite band were no more. Tears come to my eyes as i write this. But it does my old heart good to hear a new generation of musicians keeping Rush alive. Thank you all. JIM RUPE,Washington state.
I cried when Peart died and I never thought I would cry for any "rockstar" but I think that was it. He was just a normal guy like us, in fact we both grew up in St.Catharines, but I just had no idea the vast real estate he had on my heart. All of Rush in fact.
I don't know what you 2 sissies are crying about. Niel is still alive. Every time you hear a Rush song, he's right there👍.. Hell I saw at least 8 of them at the Keswick Bubba Bash 😂
I'm 54 as well and was introduced to the professor at 7 as that's when I began playing the drums and my father, a jazz and blues trumpet player brought them into my life as well as Buddy Rich, Krupa and the like. We can never get another.
I'm 62 and have been a fan since their 1st album..1974...very wonderful to see these wonderful tributes..I hope to see at least one of them live someday 😢
It pleases me to no end to hear these young ladies pay tribute to a great band like RUSH....ROCK ON GIRLS !
Lotus Land's cover of Marathon is exceptional.
It really is, and so is New World Men’s!
@@medmac2112 New World Men are awesome. The fact that the singer plays the drums in really insane. Playing Peart while singing Geddy is something I would have thought impossible, but he handles it well and is probably one of the most similar to Geddy in his voice. Chris from Lotus Land sounds a lot like Geddy too.
Thanks for including my band, Mystic Rhythms. We really miss playing. There are some more videos on my page if anyone is interested. Rush on!
please attach your link here too

Hey Steve!!!!!!!!!!
WTG y’all!!
The Rush Tribute Project should be on this list. By far one of the best Rush Tribute Bands out there
Can't believe they're not on here. Just watched their online class concert on Friday.
they are on video #3 of my series i think..
Yes I agree, they were one of the 1st Rush tribute bands I started listening to. They're very good.
The Rush Tribute Project is my favorite also
Their catalog runs very deep as well.
I’m going with YYNOT. The best overall mix of talent and accuracy to the original songs.
Me too
Yeah. Rocky Kuner.... incredible. Like a wee elf, then I'm picking myself up off the floor.
yeah, except I'm pretty sure Geddy is a better dancer than she is ; )
Ya, they are really good. It's super fun tho watching others keep the music alive.
Concordo !! São fabulosos.
I've seen Lotus Land twice and they are spectacular - both shows felt like a legit Rush concert in both length and quality of the music. I'm hoping YYNOT makes their way close again.
Agreed. I haven't seen any of the other bands on this video, but Lotus Land is fantastic!
I too have seen Lotus Land and they were amazing. It felt like i was seeing Rush live.
Rush was an exceptional band, unlike any others I've ever heard before. So much that I've decided to buy as much vinyl I possibly can because the sound quality is just not the same and with the speakers, I'm building...it makes you literally feel like if you were surrounded by Geddy, Alex, and Neil for a private concert and I can tell you that everyone I know is totally speechless! Rush will never be forgotten!!!
Nice!
Lotus Land doing Cinderella Man was Excellent!
This entire video was great... thank you for uploading.
Thanks, I'll do more in the future.
My favorite is YYNOT. The bass is dead on. Actually all the members sound great. I also have an original material album of their own which is pretty good too.
I've got a vinyl LP of theirs, great stuff.
Yeah, Tim is a beast.
My favorite as well!!!
I've followed YYNOT since before their first original cd dropped. I've seen them three times now (new singer Patty PerShayla the third time) and upcoming shows in October 2022. I like a few other Rush cover bands. However, YYNOT'S spot on covers and their engaging originals take YYNOT to a whole new level. The band is tight as hell! Patty PerShayla at vocals, now that she's signed on with the band, ensures a continuing delight!
@@AnAmericanFan well said. I am hoping to see them in Jim Thorpe PA for my first time!!
YYNOT has come a long way. Their music is so damn good and is featured on Rush Radio. Rush themselves picked up the first album.
I feel like if I was going to rank them I'd put Lotus Land #1, New World Men #2, and YYNOT #3. YYNOT is really good, but Lotus Land in my book is closest because their lead singer is pretty much like a Geddy clone with a little less hair. New World Men because their drummer is the singer. And YYNOT third because they are not a trio. All of them however are very impressive and true to all of the details and intricacies of Rush.
ohhhh, when YYNot kicks in with that Bastille Day...😮
Rush will never die👑🙏
I am a huge rush fan! Been playing Rush since 1975. I'm confessing right now that this mix brought tears to my eyes!! I love permanent waves and hemispheres and everything from fly by night to hold your fire presto, clockwork. Rush impulses in tow. So much joy. Music, Rush.. a wonderful fulfilling gift in my life. It's great to see these talented men and women just crushing it!
thanks for sharing Geoffrey!
Si capo todo lo que sea rush te Hace volar son lo mejor de la musica progresiva
Very cool! Thanks for putting this together and including Solar Federation! So many great bands are keeping the spirit of Rush alive. Cheers!
Keep up the great ork keep us posted on your gigs.
I remember the very first time i saw them live in the 70s!!!! I lost it guys!!!!! They came to Greensboro, NC and we were right up front!!! I could not believe what i was hearing coming from three guys. From the day on, i learned ever RUSH sound verbatim. And as a bass player, i even tried duplicating Geddys sound. I love this band from a deep part of my soul. Just the most creative bands EVER! Long live RUSH!!!!
3:45, Neil sings?!?!?! Awesome!!! Going to see YYNOT this Friday at the Coachhouse in SJC, can't wait! Rush forever.
YYNOT @Funky Biscuit june24
I was there. Fantastic show. Bummed Rocky left but Patty nailed it
yynot was incredible! Saw em twice in Detroit
I have only seen YYNOT. They brought me to tears at a couple of points in their concert, their sound was so close to Rush's. And they create great original music, which is a tribute to Rush all of its own.
You must all check out The Rush Tribute Project from Milwaukee, WI. They are by far, the best RUSH tribute band out there in my opinion! 3 members, all extremely talented musicians and done exactly as RUSH did! The vocals and sound of RUSH done to perfection!!
I agree! They are the BEST Rush tribute band!
Seen Lotus Land, in RI. They were great!
Estão TODOS de parabéns pela breve homenagem ao maior power trio de todos os tempos. Tenho pena daqueles que deram deslikes. Rush para sempre.
YYNOT and LOTUS LAND really capture the essence and sound of Rush the most .. in fact if you listen to YYNOTS original songs you will hear all the nuances of the Rush influence.
You're right! Some of those originals from YYNot sound like they came from another Rush album that you just didn't know!!!
I was in a Rush cover band, I played the bass my brother played the drums and our best friend played the guitar. It was back in the '80s, so we were learning Signals right when it came out! As long before the internet so of course when we went to a rush concert we were paying careful attention to what they were playing so we could remember it! I remember seeing Geddy playing Vital Signs, and I thought, "oh, that's different!" As he was banging and sliding from the middle of the neck where I was playing it all lower on the neck keeping my hand almost in the same position. Same notes. Anyway we never quite invested in the Taurus pedals, didn't do much with synthesizers and never really was able to find a good singer. Anyway, well done to all these bands for keeping it alive!!! 🙏
Mystic Rhythms for have the best look and Banda Rash for keeping it a trio and sounding so FUCKEN great!!!!
From a life long - dyed in the wool - RUSH fan for life! Long live RUSH! May their music forever Echo into eternity!
Long live Rush indeed
In Italy, there are 3 guys calling themselves "La Villa Strangiato". They are pretty good as well.
LONG LIVE MY FAVOURITE BAND EVER. NEIL PEART YOU ARE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS !!!
I cannot wait to see live music again. I’ve seen solar federation & lotus land both a few times. Both are awesome!!!
Just saw a concert for New World Men yesterday, and let me tell you, they are the bomb. Oh man do they deliver.
New World Men were my favorite band on this video! Sounds like you had a great time!!
Yes, Mat, Frank and Marc are extremely talented. How Mat plays the drums while singing Geddy’s vocal is insane! That’s a stunt I would have thought impossible. Matt also sounds very much like Geddy. I’d love to see NWM live.
I was privileged to see the masters, Rush, on every tour since Permanent Waves. I never missed them when they came to town. Every Rush concert was the best concerts I have ever been to and I have been to many concerts, but cherish the Rush concerts most.
The only problem with seeing Rush live was that you had to make a decision which one you were going to watch during certain parts, but there are so many times in songs that both Geddy and Alex are doing something phenomenal or Peart and Geddy. I always had to miss something.
I think that New World Men are one of the best tribute bands around. Lotus Land is also very good and has won best tribute band for Rush at Rush Con, but I’d love to see NWM go to Rush Con. If anyone could give LL a run for their money, it would be NWM
Glad to have Rash around here in my town. The guys rock!
Every city needs a rush cover band
Lotus Land!!! With one of my favorites -Cinderella man. Wow!!
Best 10 minutes I've spent in a loooong time. Rock On 4 RUSH !!!
That was totally awesome. Getty and Alex would love it. And Neal would be very proud. Thanks guys. That was so amazing. 🤘😎🤘
outstanding! Great crossover and very precise.
frikkin got goosebumps listening to every band...just amazing! nothing but love for y'all.❤️
I actually saw lotus land live and I was amazed of the talent and sound! N they did not shy away from doing older songs! I will say this is the first time I've even heard of solar federation and her voice was awesome hope to catch them in a local venue some time! Keeping rush music alive!! AWESOME
Great video, and props to all the bands who keep Rush's music alive. YYNOT has a different drummer and singer than those in this video, and they've really hit their stride musically. Their current sound is way better than what is shown here. Anyone interested, find their new material (look for Patty PerShayla and Mike Hetzel in the credits), and check out their originals as well.
THis was so great! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you folks, you're helping to keep their music alive for those who weren't around the first time.
All Excellent Bands . Thank You for all your efforts to bring Rush music to us all.
Dean, brother. Thank you so much for putting this together.
Wow thanks, some great bands I’ve not seen before in there. Must go check them out!
All of these bands deserve alot of admiration for their hard work in keeping this music alive. The amount of work that goes into these performances must be staggering.
so true
Beautiful renditions one and all.....thank you
Thanks for this video. Awesome!
They are all so good! Thanks
That's pure magic man thankyou !
Great covers, thank you!
Awesome. Thanks for that video.
Well done - thanks for putting that together
It was a fun project

The criteria for this compilation was simple: the band must have a spirit of Rush to it that pulls me in, and the singer must at least have a passing tonal resemblance to Geddy Lee- and as you will see there are some great singers here too. This is *not* definitive or in any order of 'top 10'- that was not my point. You pick your own favourites and check them out. Enjoy!
that was about as good as it gets. Bravo!!
I loved every single one of them! What a bunch of devoted fans and talented muscicians!
Thanks to MDW, the first band you featured here, my 7 years old daughter is now a huge Rush fan. She kind of relates to their female vocalist and has learned the lyrics to many of these songs despite her limited grade 2 vocabulary. She also wants me to be able to play all her favorite Rush tunes on guitar, so she can sing along and I'm counting on you to keep the lessons coming :)
Great collection man...
New World Men doing YYZ was really outstanding and would love to hear the whole thing.👍👍
Wow what a really cool compilation
I've seen Lotus Land, and it was amazing; Online I've seen YYNOT 3 times...
Wanna seen them all, because what a great and blessed tribute to the Best Band Ever!!🎉
This was really cool. Thanks for putting this together.
Thanks
Saw Chris Nelson there a few years ago with Lotus Land at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda NY, Great show
Mam each of them put heart and soul!!! My respect for all of them!! I can’t have a favourite one!! cause i love all rush song’s!!!🥰God bless all of them!! and Keep the burning bright!!
Women struggling to hit the notes that Geddy would nail day in and day out. Just goes to show how awesome his voice really was.
DAAAAMN. New World Men NAILED it. Mystic Rhythms was also very good.
Thank You for this compilation of Rush tribute bands!!! Rush was as my favorite Band since 1976, and it’s great to keep their music alive!!! I am glad to see the ladies involved!!! First, the music is hard enough to copy precisely, but even Geddy Lee can’t sing old Rush correctly , because of his age!! Second, Neil Peart was the best drummer/percussionist in Rock History!!! Before Neil Passed away, even he found it very difficult to play his style of drumming at his age!!!! Neil had said if he played drums like Charlie Watts ( RIP) of The Rolling Stones, he could play Charlie’s Style at age 80!!! Rush was a band for young and dynamic musicians , so Rush had to stop because Neil couldn’t tour anymore very understandable 🎸🎸 2 of the 3 members were #1 at their instruments. Geddy Lee Best Bass Player in Rock History, and Neil Peart # 1 drummer/ Percussionist in Rock History, and Alex Lifeson is in the top 5 guitarists all time
All great picks. The Sundogs really stand out here.
Subbed.
Thanks for the sub! Feel free to suggest more content ideas that youd like to see
Fantastic covers !!
Simply wonderful
Hey, thanks for putting this together! The first band you listed seems pretty cool 😎
LOL, hey neighbour! From Victoria BC....
Most excellent thanks to each and everyone keeping the live music of rush alive. Megadeath anthrax and the like I adore. But Rush is ingrained with me and my favorite. I can’t explain it but rush is simply the best band ever. Thank you so much
I love this band so much. I drum to their music every day. Ive only been alive since the Snakes and Arrows release, but I love their music from every era.
Good stuff! I appreciate these groups immensely.
I've been listening to Rush since '75 and saw them in concert the first time in '76. They'd just released All the World's a Stage, hot off the heels on 2112. I've been hooked ever since.
Props to all these groups. I favor YYNOT, but the vocals on that Ayn Rand guy! He's got the early Ged pitch and aggression.
Gonna See if I can find more of that.
Lucky you. So sad Rush are done. I saw them twice in Toronto thank God.
Muito lindo ver gente nova que adora o rush ! Sensacional!
This brings me joy closer to the heart and a big smile..! 😊
Kudos, kudos and billion thanks to all. I especially like YYNOT for sprinkling RUSH in their own material. That's rather inspirational.
I started playing in Rush tribute bands back in 1989. Rushour, 2112, Counterpart, Toronto Airport, played Rushcon 3 times. I even helped out one of the bands on this video get through a gig. I’m proud to say Rush is the only band I’ve ever done a tribute for. I’m almost 56 years old and I’m still doing it. That’s dedication!
cool. You're in Toronto?
@@deanwolfechannel Florida
The value these bands bring is not replicating the sound but showing how inimitable the original is. In that way they do it proud, and bless them for even trying.
well put- thanks
Tributefest, spring of '21, Pensacola, FL, had a really good Rush tribute band. Such a good time. They called themselves 2112 The Spirit of Rush.
All Awesome!!!
1983 I was a senior in high school.
Played bass in a band with two friends. We had 18 rush songs, 1 zz top, 1 blue oyster cult, and heavy metal by Sammy Hager.
Real good times.
thanks for sharing. some good talent there
wow!!! So many great talented Rush players out there!
I started listening to YYNOT with rocky in vocals and I was amazed at her vocal range, I couldn't believe that she was able to perfectly emulate Geddy Lee's voice, what I admire most about her is that she covers Lee's best vocal period since fly by night until moving pictures. Congratulations, long live rush forever. Keep going, maintaining the flag of rush and prog rock for many more years.
Lead for Rush Tribute Band also plays for the only Southern California band Called Caress of Steel. Pretty good! Changed out drummers a couple three times but still great hearing them.
Thanks for putting this together. I have seen Lotus Land and thought they nailed it. I would love to a few of the others hi-lighted but don't get many playing in the northeast.
Damn this was so awesome to watch!
it was fun to put together. Prob will do a part 2 sometime- there's more out there
I only knew of YYNOT, but Mystic Rhythms are also damn good!
WOW Glad to live and remember RUSH live. They are great and was even better to see live . Canadian 🇨🇦 ROCK Heroes
I saw the Rush Tribute Project a few months ago in Cincinnati & was blown away. They even played Cygnus X1 & X2 back to back & every note was dead on Rush.
I would never have imagined to anybody would want to keep this music alive back when I opened up their albums when they came out and then I want to see them live yes I was on LSD and Alex pointed at me and said he's doing one of those things you shouldn't be doing what are those things that bend reality
The guys playing big money with the period correct setup put a big smile on my face!
I know that drummer in YYNOT, he also drummed in that coverband Free Radicals, excellent drummer!
Brilliant bands. Rush will never die. Mystic mullets Brilliant 😀 best ive see in the UK are La Villa Strangiato from Rome Italy ...real Italian... cool and relaxed when they play and production is excellent.
Very cool video!
Thank you very much! It was fun to put it together. Rush cover bands are a special breed, I swear!
@@deanwolfechannel you got it! Most excellent!
Kudos to ALL of these Cover Bands. They all nailed it.
Well you people stop you're making me cry you guys are awesome I know it almost every Rush song on guitar you guys are making me cry you're so good
Not tribute band per se, but Fleesh did an amazing Rush tribute album.
There was a Rush tribute band that played in St Louis a few times in the late 90s early 2000 called 2112. If you close your eyes you'd swore you were at a real rush concert. The bass player, singer sounded more like Geddy than any other rush tribute band I've ever heard, & I'm pretty sure I've he a heard them all. Don't know what happened to them. Can't find them online anywhere. Of course this was in the day before CZcams got big & MySpace was still the hot social media music outlet. Anyone else out there heard of them? They'd be giant if they kept it going!
Hi Kurt, thanks! St. Louis, I'm guessing could've been the Toy Tiger.. We have been named Rushour, 2112 and Toronto Airport.. we're been around since 1988 as teens playing Rush.. probably been doing it longer than any of the bands listed here... the singer bassist at that time was George McGrew.. you can look up Rushour and see clips of the band with George. We also write and play original music that sounds quite a lot like Rush.. and had songs on Rush radio for a while. The band also played at Rushcon, the international Rush convention in Toronto- three times in the 2000's..We toured the USA in the 90's.. and were also mentioned in National Midnight Star Rush newsletter. The history is deep with this band.. We turned down the tribute documentary series on Rush that aired on TV, as we thought it was making fun of the bands as opposed to being something positive. Geddy was asked about us back in the day and he said he had heard of us.. "Oh that's one of those tribute bands that sounds more like us than we do".😊 We plan on becoming more active on social media in 2021.
Ive done Rush tunes.. they seriously opened my eyes to what music could be, not just party rockin out, but music for an intelligent man.. I write my own music which takes from all that Ive heard & done, but early Rush was probably the biggest & best.
Holy CRAP! Hearing the vocalist from YYNOT just floored me! Wtf? She's got it down to the tiny little vocal stylings- breath patterns, nasal pallete resonance, even the little half-second vibrato finish that Geddy Lee always did.
Wow! 😍 I'm dropping you right now, Dean, to go search for a YYNOT "Temples of Syrynx". Hope you don't mind- don't worry, I'll come back after... 😁
They are great. The singer is great. Real talent.
YNOT sounded like Lorde does Rush.
I agree
You are correct. Rocky is ridiculously good (especially live), and YYNOT's original material is really good as well.
Agreed! That was giving me shivers too!
