- Additional info, When you see postero inferior part of mandible on lingual side, there is depression caused by sub mandibular gland( periosteal compo) affecting skeletal unit. Also the mucsles of mastication affect bone/mandible, hence we give myofunctional appliance, muscles change bone shape, broader the musculature, broder bone. With time, stresses of muscles, cause deformation of bone
