    In this video you'll see four examples of pitchers, all with pretty good front legs. The front leg bracing technique, or lead leg blocking (whatever you want to call it) is important for transferring energy from the ground and the lower half into the upper half and the arm.

      I will!!! should the front leg behave in the same way on flat ground? and about the back leg. should it be on or of the ground at the release point? Thanks for all the tips!

    • @DanBlewett
      @DanBlewett  Před 5 lety +1

      Mostly the same yes. Back leg can vary. Best is probably extended still on the ground but that also varies from player to player. Verlander’s comes off the ground a bit as does others. Not an absolute way to do it

    If I understand you correctly, Tom Seaver's stiff front bent leg pitching technique satisfies your perspective. Correct if I am wrong. I am still catching up on your past videos. Keep up the great work.

    Dan, great stuff as usual! My 12U has been struggling beauty this year thing. Any good isolation drills to work on stiffening the stride lead at pitch. I teach kids that it is like slamming on the brakes on a car- and the luggage goes flying off.

      @@DanBlewett thank you sir but should they be looking at the target. The major league pitchers are. Not a crit. just observe while I learn. Thank you.

    • @DanBlewett
      @DanBlewett  Před 5 lety +3

      It doesn’t matter where they look, and it will change at various points in the delivery. The variance between pitchers on what their eyes do is very significant. And, you can’t really infer where they’re actually looking by their head direction, in most cases. That’s a detail you shouldn’t concern yourself with, especially with a young pitcher.

    Hey Dan great stuff as usual. I have a three questions for you. Are there high velocity pitchers who throw with a bent front leg that straightens after ball release? If so do you think they would throw even harder if they straighten at release point? Finally, do you think command is better with a straight lead leg at release? Thanks for your time and knowledge.

    • @DanBlewett
      @DanBlewett  Před 3 lety

      I dont think anyone knows the answers to any of that, but my guess is that it doesnt matter. I think as long as your front leg doesnt sink, you're good. A lot of pitchers do not have straight leg by ball release - I didn't. There's not one way to do it.

      theres no conspiracy. you dont seem to have any real understanding of how pitchers develop from a young age on up.
