I was watching the wedding at a friend’s house and we hadn’t eaten breakfast yet (it was early in the US). That speech had entered ‘make your brain explode’ territory to the point we couldn’t handle it anymore, even with the comedy of British reactions, so most of us went out in the kitchen to get something to eat. A friend’s teenage son was still in with the TV and yelled “He’s talking FIRE now. Literally, he’s talking FIRE now.” It was one of the most memorable moments of the morning. lol
I don’t know how he didn’t get pulled aside at the rehearsal and replaced. The whole thing was totally tone deaf and cringe-inducing.

Well, that day i escaped to the English Lake District to climb Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. It was fantastic weather and not a breath of wind on the summit. The view over the Lakes and across to Scotland was jaw dropping.

I don't even have much of an opinion of Meghan and Harry but can understand why she's not very popular at the moment. She was welcomed warmly into the RF, she promised to 'hit the ground running' and we all looked forward to seeing what she would be bringing to the family. But she didn't bring anything!! She complained, contradicted herself, ignored protocol, complained a bit more, then threw in the towel. Yes she's had some awful press coverage but what royal hasn't? Camilla and Kate haven't always had it easy, neither have Beatrice or Eugenie who are 'blue blood' royals. Every public figure will experience some negative press but if she didn't retaliate they would have left her alone eventually. She's made herself an easy target! I'm not condoning the tabloids, that's unfortunately just the way the world is and I can empathise how hard it must be to read awful things about yourself. I personally don't think it will be any better in Canada but good luck to them. I for one wish Harry and Meghan all the happiness in the world and hope they get the peaceful life they crave so much. The wedding was a major public event, just like sports events, the annual Queen's Speech, Jubilees, Olympics, film openings, awards ceremonies, football matches, Wimbledon, the Grand National, concerts, parades, protests etc. Such events attract a need for security, which is paid for through taxation. It is estimated the total cost of this security, and cleaning after the event was about £30m. However this isn't accurate, because those expenses would have been incurred on those police officer's salaries and council cleaning expenses anyway.

After watching Prince William/Catherine Middleton's wedding vs. Harry/Meghan's, I preferred the former wedding ceremony the best because of the music, reverence for Our Lord, and it seemed more traditional to religion. I'm not one for "bucking tradition," which is something Markle is known for doing. A wedding is a solemn ceremony and needs the highest honor and respect.
True what you say about people having a ceremony that is meaningful to them. So if that's the way they want it, let them. My preference is for the more traditional one. Glad I had that. I knew what to expect. Strictly my own preferences and thoughts on the subject. :)
