It's not easy being honest about the unemployment and money in public especially when work is not "traditional". So I appreciate it. I'm in a similar boat as well with my finances and even my mental health. This has been encouraging for me in this hard time. Wishing you success in your next steps.

girl I totally understand what you are going thru. This is how my 2023 was like, I was making nothing for the beginning of the year. I thought about stop freelancing and started looking for a full time job but I kept failing. A couple months ago I finally got some freelance work, and the client end up owing me 3 months worth of payment. You are totally not alone. Freelancing just has its ups and downs. My friends kept telling me it's not that I'm not good enough, you just need to prepare for the right opportunity.

This video resonated so much with me. I've had a rough year so far, and only now do things seem to be looking up. In between all that, I've realized that I'm not as passionate about working with clients as I was when I first started freelancing (tbh I think it's a bit of burnout from the constant onboarding, offboarding, and all the admin that comes with it). I'm obsessed with content creation and passion projects though. I started my YT channel in December/January, and although I'm nowhere near monetization, it's been so rewarding to create content. I absolutely love your channel, and here's to hoping that as you get back into the flow of putting out more videos, your revenue will grow again. 🫶🏻
I was unemployed for 9 months and couldn't freelance because I had unemployment benefits. My confidence was in the gutter, for sure. I appreciate you sharing this. We should be able to talk about these things without shame. Life isn't always Instagram ready and that can be just as beautiful.

This year has been incredibly difficult I started on a pretty good high from Jan-April but since April, everything has been dry and I have been unemployed. I’ve decided to probably just leave the field all together and get into a career that’s still comfortable and pays well. I feel disrespected in a way by the industry and I’m tired of living this way.
I am feeling the same way. What did you do about it?

It’s definitely been a rollercoaster of a year, so many unexpected changes that are impacting our lives. I found this year incredibly difficult and it’s resulted in me resitting a year of my Graphic Design degree, which isn’t ideal, but it’s for the best. We’ve all got this, and are so proud of you. I can’t wait to see what you get up to!

I started graphic design because I quit work and then I struggle the first 6 months with my emotional/mental health. It was really bad, but I had so much fun learning and learned from a couple of your videos about how I want to design. Thank you for your honesty and your push to want more for yourself.
i really relate to this. im sorry you're going through this but im glad things are looking up. freelancing is so stressful and unreliable for me but it always looks like every freelancer online is doing amazing and it just makes me feel like im failing. this kind of honesty is really valuable. thanks for sharing and im wishing you the best ❤️

As a new freelancer who is currently unemployed, I’m so nervous about getting work and how things will pan out moving forward. Imposter syndrome takes over a lot and I doubt my abilities every day! This is something I’m trying to work on and your videos have inspired me so much, helping me to feel more capable in achieving my business goals!
The journey is never smooth sailing a suppose, but you’ll bounce back and end up where you’re meant to be, doing what is meant for you ❤
Hi Paola! I'm sure you will blow people minds with your creativity running through your veins! We are humans and we have a definitely though career so,we need breaks to pull back ourselves together, I'm sure this kind of ups and downs happens to all designers out there 'cause we are perfectionists, sensible and very emphatic people. Just remember to thing out the box and look for niches that are uncovered , just my two cents and I know you will feel better when you get to focus on working on yourself first and have your professional purpose as a priority. Remember why you choose what u chose , that having fun it is super important in whatever you do and clarity will spark up right away, tons of hugs! I appreciate this kind of videos love it!

I’m a freelance designer as well and I agree it’s really fallen flat like I havnt been getting clients in the last couple of months but thankfully I still live under my parents roof so I don’t have that pressure

Been taught from an early age. Never rely on 1 income coming in. I make some money off CZcams too. But, it was never my main income. Always have a few incomes coming in.

So happy for you, i know you got this. I'm still trying to find the will to make my logo, portfolio and stuff and start working as a graphic designer. My internship ruined it for me because it was nothing like I've imagined it..but i have to get it together. Also i wanna get into interior design without going to school for it..any advice?
I had a toxic identity issue as a graphic designer that led to depression and not being satisfied with life. I finally decide to let go of that identity and not see myself as a graphic designer and it has been so liberating. I even stopped consuming anything graphic design related because I was forcing it as part of this identity. I just need to step back and reevaluate things.
Hard agree on consuming design content! All the perfection out there makes me spiral sometimes. I try to stay away from that side of online. Hope you find peace on your journey🤍
