Thanks for taking the time to post this. This is very helpful. The FX8 doesn't come with mounting instructions and I'm new to riding so seeing how you removed the pads and ran the wires was great. In the reviews I read, I didn't hear about the tip for using the boom mic. I appreciate the explanation on that.
I have the Fx8 air. Works awesome. I have a question I could use some help with. So, while connected to my phone the device works awesome. I've even connected to face book messenger video call and it works great. However, when I want to document my ride or record video on my phone (while connected to fx8air) the volume/mic transfers to the phone. My goal is to record video on phone while using the mic from the fx8air . I don't understand why messenger video worked but recoding video alone didn't keep input on the mic instead of phone. I have a Samsung galaxy note 20 ultra5g
Hi, I'll confess I'm more of an iPhone user, although I do use a Poco X3 for navigation on my KTM. What is the default microphone setting on your Android? Some place in the settings you should be able to change the default microphone if the phone is seeing another source. This may be different depending on your Android device. Open Settings. Click on System. Click on Sound. Under the “Input” section, click the Manage sound devices option. Under the “Input” section, select the microphone. Etc.... Also a few apps in the Playstore that help you control the sound input/outputs. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nordskog.LesserAudioSwitch&hl=en_US
The 2.5mm jack on the back seems to be an Aux port for input, not sure if it could be used for output (ear buds) at the time of making this video. Can you clarify?
@@thegenxrider That could be good news then. I am trying to record the intercom along with my video via my Action 4 camera. So in theory I could run a line out, as you did for earbuds; but in my case pipe that into my camera as a microphone. Do you have any experience with this setup?
I'm sure you could just unplug the microphone as it's on its own socket at the front. You can place the earbuds in the external socket at the back, this is what I do, as the audio is always better than the in-helmet speakers. I talk more about using the earbuds on my website. genxrider.com/fodsports-fx8-bluetooth-motorcycle-intercom-unboxing-and-install/
According to the specs and instructions it should pair. Sometimes it can be steps with these things. I would look on the Amazon listing and checkout the comments and answers and reach out to those that have paired their units to the Sena 30K.
I'm inclined to buy the FX-8, just because of the dial. However, the new version M1-S PLUS looks better because of the mute buttom and music sharing. What do u think? Fx8 vs M1-s plus. Which one is better? Do u know if the sound quality is the same?
Hi Felipe, From what I have read online, sound quality is the same for FX8 and M1-S. Same speakers, audio processing etc. I went with the FX8 as it's easier to use when riding. The wheel with the center button makes it easy to take a call and adjust the volume. I posted a more in-depth review on my website which I will keep updated as I progress with the FX8. genxrider.com/fodsports-fx8-bluetooth-motorcycle-intercom-unboxing-and-install/
@@thegenxrider I think i'll go with M1S - plus, just cause that news resources that i mentioned. In another video, Fodsports answered my question about sound quality and they claimed that M1S-Plus is a little clear in sound quality. But i have to admit that the whell with the center button and the style (or the desing) of the FX8 please me a lot more than the M1S. Anyway, still in doubt kk. Thanks for the answer, bro.

Thanks! If you need anything else, let me know. Also my website article has a bunch of info that I will keep updated with any new info on the FX8.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH....EXCELLENT DESCRIPTION.
Good Job Dude. Thank you share this video
Thank you! Easy to follow along. Bonus that I have the same helmet.
You are welcome.

Yes, I use this for earbuds.

@@thegenxrider What did you do with the speakers when using ear buds? They look to be hardwired into the unit.
Nope.@@OHVLife
As I recall, the audio to the speakers is cut off when you plug in the earbuds.@@OHVLife
hows the sound? does it have a bass or get distorted on max volume?
Hi. At full volume I don’t hear it distorting. The sound does not have a lot of bass, no surprise at this price point.
Do you think you could remove the mic and place earbuds into the mic jack so other riders can hear but not speak?

@@MaxHeadRush Yes. To be honest, I tend to just use the ear buds as the sound is better, especially at speed.

@@MaxHeadRush Nope, just left them in the helmet.
