    Spot on about our being there before anyone else, making sure the exterior is secure and the interior houses no unexpected guests, then remaining vigilant over the persons coming and going. That's not too much to ask at all.

    Madison is 10 miles east of downtown Nashville. My house is 5 minutes from that church. It's a huge mega church. Cornerstone church
    In 2017, a small church 40 people was attacked by a shooter . I killed in the parking lot and 7 shot in the church. A man from Africa. Church member ran to his car got his gun and came back in the church. He Confronted the shooter got pistol whipped, and they fought. The shooter ended up shooting himself in the scuffle. He was restrained until police arrived.

    Crazy security things happen at church for sure.
    I was one of 12 armed parishioners on our team and it was my year to be the "outside captain". We had a older divorced lady warn us about her x husband harassing her who was not a church member. She gave us his picture for identification purposes. Sure enough he shows up after the service started one Sunday and makes a bee line straight towards his former wife, so we block him quietly and tell him to either sit somewhere else or leave.
    He complied and sat quietly with no incident until the end of the service. Then after church the woman went out of her way to greet and talk to him and they walked out together to their cars all friendly and smiling, like she still loved him.
    We were left all scratching our heads about the whole thing.
    That's why domestic issues can be the most unpredictable according to law enforcement experts.

      Yes domestic issues are head scratchers and very emotional sometimes. Thank you for sharing!

    Would you recommend church security have training in handcuffs and have handcuffs in preparation for these events

    • @ChurchSecurityAnswers
      @ChurchSecurityAnswers  Před rokem +1

      Hey Johnny great question! My opinion is generally No. Unless you are a busy church in a downtown high crime area, you are probably not going to need handcuffs. We can hold people down or use our verbal skills while we wait for police. The problem as I see it is training for the new tools. Whatever you add to your tools, you have to train on it, and we often don't have the experts or training schedule to do an adequate job of training. And handcuffs can injure people if not applied correctly, which can mean a lawsuit for you and your church. It also means "custody" or "detained" when you put someone in handcuffs I think for most courts and public opinion. And we can sometimes jump the gun in church security when it comes to holding people and detaining people. So there is another problem versus, just standing and talking with someone until police arrive. If you are in a high crime area and you have someone who has enough experience to training on handcuff application and handcuffing techniques.....maybe we talk a little more about it. Don't forget the person applying the handcuffs can also get hurt sometimes if they don't apply in a timely manner and the person decides to fight the detention. Just some food for thought.

    Out of curiosity, what radio solution does your church security team use? Our security team is currently looking for a better solution, preferably a low profile one (e.g., with discrete earpiece, mic, etc.). Any recommendations?

      I talk about what equipment I recommend in this video. czcams.com/video/MrRGHuG1iKc/video.html
      It is hard to find the earpiece as "low profile" from my experience, unless you invest some serious money into it.

    This is sad, you can't spend time worshiping while in the parking lot, just saying...

      You can worship the Lord anytime anywhere.

      Encourage more people in your church to volunteer for security and rotate the schedule so people get to worship in the service, the people in the service should be wearing headsets also.
