    This guy doesn't trust the watch because it indicated his heart-rate as 73 (in the normal range) while his Apple watch indicated a heartrate of 36 (dangerously low bradycardia). Then again, perhaps his heart rate really is 36, which would suggest seriously low oxygen brain level. Either way, while I don't own either watch, I trust the results of the BP Doctor Pro more than than his APple Watch or him.

    Testing device (arm cuff / wach) has to be on the same level as the heart. Redo this test the proper way just to make sure.

    It seems like there’s been a huge growth in empowering people to be healthier - in terms of medical understanding (e.g. gut health, ultra processed food), motivating (e.g. the various RowAlong programmes) and also in terms of technology (e.g. wearable devices). All of this only works if people can trust what they’re reading, watching and doing, so thanks for flagging up in various videos where you think the tech is still at the inaccurate / gimmick stage so people are not discouraged in their journeys to better health.

      I totally agree with you. At least YHE are trying to improve on the idea of a smart watch with the BP thing. It’s just a shame that it’s not accurate enough yet.

      There is a rumor that Apple might have it in the Watch coming out in 2024. I’m sure that when/if they do it will be accurate and trustworthy. It’s a feature I would absolutely pay for.

    37 beats per minute is almost as doubtful as 73 beats per minute. Do you know what your average beats per minute is at rest in reality?

    • @patty109109
      @patty109109 Před 11 měsíci

      It’s probably 37. Apple Watch is known to be accurate and a sub 40 resting heart rate is common in elite athletes. I was 42-44 in my prime and not as fit as he is.

      37.-40. I just have a very low RHR. I’ve had it checked out that it’s not a problem (there can be medical issues leading to a low rhr)

    As I suffer from high blood pressure, i've always been on the lookout for BP wrist monitors. I just don't think the tech is there yet though !

      Well, they’ve offered to send me an upgraded version. I wasn’t going to say yes. But I will now.

      @@rowalong As a person with BP issues... I was always told to do 3 tests with a couple of minutes between them and average the readings. BP is very variable from second to second and arm to arm....

    ? Ya do trust the apple at 37bpm (which is almost dead) and ya don't trust the other which is in the normal range...

    • @rowalong
      @rowalong  Před 7 měsíci

      Haha, I know what you're saying. But I also know my resting heart rate. Every watch I've ever had, every heart rate strap I've ever had - all of them have me that low. In fact, when I had a bad accident when sharpening a knife, and had to go into surgery under a local anaesthetic to get my tendon sewn back together (ick) - the sugeons and nurses kept on asking me if I was ok, as my RHR was in the high 30's. I even have a medical thing on my phone that says I have a low RHR - just in case I get taken into hospital and they think it's abnormal for me.

    to be fair my Lloyds Pharmacy blood pressure monitor gives the same kind of variance of blood pressure, and this is why doctors ask you to take three readings, three times a day, normally for a week. It would a far better comparison if you did this with the watch versus your monitor! PS Is you monitor BHA approved?

    • @rowalong
      @rowalong  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes, it's BHA approved - and I'll take your suggestion on board when I make a review video for the updated version of this watch. Thanks!!

    Any watch that does NOT have a bladder uses an ALGORYTM to more or less "calculate (Gestimate?)" your blood pressure. In other words: there's no guarantee it's accurate. Bear in mind that WRIST BP monitors use a bladder and they are not as accurate as upper arm BP monitors. So if accuracy is important, stick with an upper arm monitor. If all you are interested in is a pattern of how activity affects your blood pressure, rather than accuracy of actual pressure, then don't waste your money on false claims of product superiority.

      Interestingly, I'm testing out their latest model right now. So far, it at least works when I get sweat on it. So that's an improvement!!

    Did you ever try a blood pressure watch you Do trust?

    • @rowalong
      @rowalong  Před 3 měsíci

      Well, they makers of this watch have sent me the updated model, which does seem to be a lot closer to the main unit I use. I'm still in the process of testing it though.

    • @rowalong
      @rowalong  Před 6 měsíci

      Haha. I have a very low resting heart rate. I've had it checked, and it's just something I have. It probably developed from my teenage years training for squash.
