    Great video, and awesome updates by Kia. We have a 2017 Sportage fleet car and even though it’s just a gasoline 1.6 manual, it is VERY well equipped. I am impressed with the refinement every time I drive it, both in urban areas and on the highway. Lane-keep assist, safety systems, electronic everything, CarPlay, and the one that pisses off execs driving mid-spec German cars (I live in Germany): HEATED STEERING WHEEL. For some reason it’s not standard on MB/Audi/BMW, but our Kia came with it!!

    I'm not sure about other countries, but in the US for 2020 the Sportage has a better looking front end with front wheel drive than the front end with All Wheel Drive. I understand it is because of the front end approach for the AWD. These cars, like most in the US will not see off road driving. Just my opinion.

    • @AsianPetrolhead
      @AsianPetrolhead  Před 5 lety

      Yes, Barry. thank you for your opinion. AWD systems used to be only good for off roading. But recent AWD systems really do have great affect on stability and even handling. So, i would be glad to have it as an option for my own SUV. thank you.

    UPDATE: The Chicago Auto Show debut the 2020 Kia Sportage for the North America. This model will have the updated interior and exterior you showed in this video. I knew Kia Sportage sells wasn't that good for 2018 in North America, so I figured they would not make changes until they moved some of those 2018 and 2019 models off the dealer's lots. It's actually a smart move because the dealer can sell you a 2018 model by showing the 2019 model didn't have any interior or exterior changes and then they could offer you a great deal on the 2018. We well get the 2020 Kia Sportage as a mid season upgrade this summer.
    I love the improvements of the 2019 Kia Sportage, especially the front grill and Porsche like daytime LED lights. I want one, however I'm wondering why these updates didn't make it to North America. I notice the updates in Korea, Australia and United Kingdom but not in North America. Canada and the United States are carrying over the 2018 model year with no changes for 2019. I'm wondering why we didn't get the updates for 2019. You're very knowledgeable do you have an answer why? Please advise.

    Faster than Tuscon, and looks much better, as it has for years..and the cockpit is more driver-centric...without a floating screen, as the new Tuscon now has.We have no diesels here in US, and the turbo GDIs are standard.

      @@AsianPetrolhead I love Hyundai /Kia autos. Their reliability and evolution into the 3rd biggest auto group is exceptional. Just within the past 10 years, like many things Korean, the new N performance line, and Genesis luxury segments, are on par with Japanese heavyweights like Honda and Toyota. But, for the income restricted, like me, I am very happy to see affordable hatches, or small CUV's like the Soul, that have a long term reliable car that I have access to and another choice that matches with the best of Japan.

      Diesels are not prevelant, but are available usually in European models...but after VW Group's Dieselgate...their marketing of fuel efficient TDIs,etc. was a bust here. Although. I did hear of Hyundai/Kia creating an engine that uses a new mixture of gas and diesel..!! I haven't heard anymore , but the Kona EV, is a great product.
