    Does this provide any audio improvement to the Bose Premium system? Nvm, I see it does not integrate with the car's Bluetooth services, that's a major fail. Shame, the OEM look is nice.

    Hi Gennaro,if you look at the lower right corner of the frontplate, there's a removable cover at the bottom of the column of buttons. Feel around the edge and you'll feel a ridge, hook your thumbnail on that and you should be able to pry it out easily. Under it there is an SD slot. To use the default map set you might not need to set up the path, it's probably already defaulted to the right place. If you want to change to iGO or another map program, you'll need to go to the Settings page on the Eonon and find the GPS or Nav Path Setup page. There you'll find a field where you can enter the path to point to the executable for the mapping program.

      Hi...
      A question; do the controls to answer the phone while driving work? Is the functionality of receiving and making calls the same as the previous radio equipment? I ask, since I observe that you turn the volume up and down and change the radio station, you change the mode, but I would like to know about incoming calls and those that one usually makes with the control on the helm.

    • @EONONInstallation
      @EONONInstallation  Před rokem

      @@giovannicuadra4826 No, the phone and voice command controls on the steering wheel do not work after installation, just the volume control on the left side. There are controls on the screen of the radio that can be used instead. When a call comes in a popup window offers you "answer" and "decline" buttons, and while you're in the call the popup allows you to access the numeric keypad if you need to tap numbers in.

    This probably the clearest instruction on the installation I've seen. Wondering if you also did the reverse cam? I have managed to install the HUD but need to figure out how to route the wire for the reverse cam on the Mazda 3 2011. Also I see you could control the volume and radio presets from the steering buttons but on mine only the volume buttons work..the other one doesn't do anything.. is there any specific configuration ?

    • @EONONInstallation
      @EONONInstallation  Před 2 lety

      I didn't install the reverse cam when I did that video, I chickened out thinking about how many panels needed to be removed to route wires.
      When I upgraded to a later EONON unit I did get motivated and I started pulling panels all the way back to the rear of the car, routing the wire along the top of the driver's side doors where the inside wall meets the headliner. I was able to get all the way to the rear pillar, but couldn't figure out a way to go from there to the rear gate, and then I quickly lost confidence in my eventual success and gave up. :) I'm thinking about upgrading again to the full touchscreen model, if I do that i'll probably take another look.

    • @RV6Tweety
      @RV6Tweety Před 6 lety +3

      Yes, when the radio turns on the phone connects automatically. Honestly, i've never disconnected a battery terminal while swapping a stereo. Just be careful not to let the live positive line hang free anywhere it could short out (or wrap it in electrical tape while it's disconnected). Connect power to the radio last, and all will be good. I won't be re-editing the video at this point, it was done for Eonon and i'll leave it up to them to make the change if they need/want to.

      The 2004-2009 interior is slightly different from the 2010-2013 interior so this particular EONON unit will not fit. EONON does make units that do fit the 2004-2009 body. The steps to hook them up are substantially the same, so if you can identify where all the wires are you'll be able to do it.

      The USB port in the center console is just a power port, I didn't change that. You could certainly connect it up to the radio if you wanted to, it's not hard to remove the cover over the handbrake and run a full USB cable down there. I elected to run it to the glovebox so it would be more easily accessible to the passenger while driving.

    • @EONONInstallation
      @EONONInstallation  Před 7 lety +1

      There isn't a compass built-in to the unit anywhere, just a GPS. It figures out which direction you're going by reading two successive GPS points and telling you which way you went. If you sit at a light, stopped, your compass heading might jump around a bit as the GPS signal wanders slightly and will occasionally think you're a few feet forward, back, or to the side. This is normal with *all* GPS units. The only way around it is for the software to detect when you've stopped moving and stop updating the heading.

      Sorry, I can't say... I never used the aux input in the center console and still don't. I did think about running the aux cords to the center console, but in the end decided the glovebox was more accessible for the wiring (and less visible for making the hole...). I expect if the aux in wire was run into the Mazda harness, that it would still be there for the Eonon to use. I don't know if it does though.

      Is your upper screen the simple one with just outside temp, clock, and audio mode display? ie. radio station or CD track or whatever? That's what mine is, and it works. If you have the built-in SatNav, with the useless tiny GPS screen, I can't help you there... I expect the brains for that are all in the OEM stereo and removing it will make it go dark.
      Right now I wouldn't suggest a GM5163, they aren't available anymore... This video is really just for installation help. Buy this one instead: Android 10, 9" screen, no knobs.

    • @EONONInstallation
      @EONONInstallation  Před 7 lety

      It does come with a wiring harness, that can either be spliced into the car's wiring or you can get an adapter that plugs into the car's wiring and splice into that instead (leaving car's wiring intact). This head unit does have the power to drive speakers directly (that's the default configuration), but you will need to figure out how to bypass your amp for your install. My M3 didn't have a separate amp, so I have no experience with that.

      Pretty much. You need to figure out which wires go to which plugs, but the manual is good enough. No cutting/splicing wires was required. You do end up with a large bundle of extra wire in the space behind the radio, and it's a challenge to organize it all so the radio sits flush. If you do have the cutting/splicing skills, you could shorten a lot of the wires and clean that bundle up considerably. But it's not *necessary* to do that.

They are usually quick to respond, but keep in mind they are in Asia so an overnight turnaround on emails is likely if you are in North America.

      No problem. I thought I had to connect my own radio harness to the Mazda harness, or maybe i'm thinking of my previous Mazda3. Still, Eonon should be able to help. Even more so if all the connectors and such were pre-done.

      I fixed it...had to go into factory settings and enter the password "126". Had a volume section in there and the radio was at 10. Lowered it to 0 and now the problem is fixed...

      Mine do. The dimmer circuit is hooked up on mine as well, and that works too. If I dim my dashboard lights, the radio dims with them. Not sure how to diagnose your issue... Do the lights on the radio turn *off* when you turn on the headlights?

    • @t3m0kk

    • @EONONInstallation
      @EONONInstallation  Před 8 lety

      That is odd. I would go back and check that you have things wired correctly... If there are no errors, it's possible you have a bad head-unit.

    • @CherelleDanae
      @CherelleDanae Před 8 lety +1

      Hey I don't know if you ever figured out how to get the lights to stay on cuz I was having the same issue and I figured it out! You have to connect the two wires in the back that say illumi together! And it should work! There's four lose wires two say BRAKE and two say ILLUMI idk if you need to connect the brake ones as well but I did anyways and my lioghts on the system turn on when I turn my lights on as well now!

    • @EONONInstallation

      +kamikaza777 No, removing the stock stereo removes all Mazda functions along with it. I saw a post from someone online who claimed that they were able to keep the stock bluetooth system functional when they installed their aftermarket stereo, complete with phone button controls on the steering wheel. I don't know how that was possible, none of the phone/voice buttons on my steering wheel do anything after the upgrade.

    Hello Rob... Where did you attach the wi-fi antenna???

    • @EONONInstallation
      @EONONInstallation  Před 5 lety

      Attach? I'm not sure what you mean... If I recall, the WiFi antenna plugs into the back of the radio. I didn't mount the antenna anywhere special, I just put it on the "shelf" behind the ventilation ducts up near the GPS antenna. The ducts are plastic, so I don't think they'll attenuate the WiFi signal much, if at all. You can see the WiFi wire hanging out over the top of the radio at the 6:50 mark in the video. Later at 7:20 you can see me stuffing the antenna and coiled wire for the WiFi into the space to the left of the left ventilation duct. This location has worked well for me for the 4 years (wow, has it been that long?) that i've had the radio.

      You don't "have" to, but it's a good idea. If you cross a wire while plugging things in, you could fry the head unit or your car's electrical system.

      Hi Tarek, the Mode and Up/Down tuning buttons still work, but you lose the cell phone controls. They do nothing after the install. Hey thanks for the info, when i was searching the deck it said by the seller the function can work, so they are pretty much lying to us >:( there is another video on youtube i found by user dannyjack, he is going to give a full review, he mention he will post it today or sometime this week. Hopefully he can answer the full question. But thanks for the info.

    • @RV6Tweety
      @RV6Tweety Před 9 lety

      Tarek Taher I've had the unit for a year now, so it's possible that in that time they've found a way to interface to the telephone controls. I was under the impression that the telephone controls were a separate system in the car, so they may not be accessible on the CANBUS. I could be wrong, and Eonon may not be outright lying. I do recall that they advertised integration with the steering wheel controls, but when you looked closer it only claimed radio controls, not telephone. Again, that may have changed.
