Make sure that any firearm cleaning or maintenance is done safely. It is absolutely imperative that your gun is cleared of any ammunition. You have to drop the magazine free and clear the chamber. Rack the slide and visually check the chamber before you take the pistol down.
How to clean a gun starts with a field strip. Typically, this is all the owner likely will need to know how to do to keep a gun clean and functioning, outside of perhaps changing a few springs here and there.
Takedown varies by model, but generally speaking you operate a takedown mechanism, and pull the slide off the frame. Remove the recoil spring, and then pull the barrel out of the frame by pulling it backward and up.
To clean the gun, you only need to use a bore cleaner on the barrel. A light application cleaning and lubricating solution, such as CLP, Rem Oil or Ballistol, can be used elsewhere.
The bore should be cleaned using a bore brush, with some patches to wipe out carbon deposits. You should also give the barrel a very light coat of lubricant after cleaning.
The frame of the pistol, the slide, and the internals can all be kept in good working order by a light coat of cleaning/lubricating solution on a toothbrush. Scrub away some carbon, and then pat dry with a clean, lint-free cloth or dab gently with a paper towel.
Make sure to lubricate any areas where the frame contacts the slide, and lubricate the locking lugs and barrel block as these are wear points as well.
After you've cleaned and lubricated your pistol, reassemble in reverse order.
It's a good idea to have a cleaning mat when you work on your guns. To find some great cleaning mats, go ahead and get over to:

I'm having a lot of difficulties moving the take down lever on my sig p365. It's really stiff and almost impossible to rotate 90 degrees without using something like the magazine to move it. Is there a way you would recommend oiling that part to help with the stiffness? Or not oil it at all?

Thanks for watching! Regrettably we are not experts on this, however, we would suggest reaching out to your local gun smith for the best information on that.

Compared with other AG content, I'm disappointed. A cleaning video without actual cleaning? What's the point?
