I mean literally no one can argue the case that it was a fluke now this footage exists, its legitimately factually impossible to suggest anything other than it being a well executed, 100% planned KO.
The same thing as McGregor's KO of Aldo. Footage came out of him practicing it backstage... 100% a quality set up and planned knockout regardless of how the fight was going still can't take nothing from him
Yes
And Masvidals flying knee
@@LucaJH haha yes someone had to capitise on that dipped head one day 😂
no such thing as a fluke in fighting to begin with.

According to Leon's manager, his team also knew the kick would probably only work late in the fight. He does indeed also throw the kick seconds after his team call it out. Great work from Leon's team.
Indeed great work.
Haters queuing up with their "lucky" and "fluke" comments right now, as they've done on all other videos relating to this fight. Yeah we get it, Usman was cruising to a points win, doesn't detract however from that finish.

Who else heard the coach shout out "throw the head kick now Leon" just before he did through it. No wonder he stayed in the UK with this team. 👏💪
The fact that he was exhausted and still was able to put it on place shows how hard they've trained it, cause at that point the brain wasn't in good shape but the body was programmed to execute without full brain capacity.. outstanding.

“It was a fluke”
Leons coaches: we can kick him when he dips
😂😂😂
So many people calling others "casuals" for suggesting Leon and his team planned that combination. Apparently it was a lucky shot or a fluke. Clearly the hours of preparation paid off, once his corner had mentally slapped him into action before Round 5. It was a thing of beauty. People need to start giving Leon and his team the credit they deserve.
Iconic moment in UFC history , will remember that feeling for awhile.
I don’t think I ever been in such disbelief after a knock out like that
@@steven209 It was a shocker but Usman showed signs of being human in his Burns and in both Colby fights. Now if someone were to do this to Khabib on the other hand. (if he hadn't retired). That would be the biggest shock ever
@@WontHarmYou I agree, khabib is way more dominate taking people down so he doesn’t stay standing up as long. He only fought like 2 wrestlers Justin and Al.
Really impressive, as a casual fan, one of the best moments I’ve seen in ufc. Just perfection.
I also noticed while rewatching the fight that Leon feinted the combo before he actually threw it. He feints a jab and then feints the kick. Usman didn’t react to the kick feint so that’s when leon knew he could land that kick. He even confirmed this in a post fight interview that he set usman up with the feints to test his reaction. He noticed that when he threw a jab left hand feint usman would dip and slip off to the right. He knew that kick would land perfectly
Mate its amazing if u watch closely like that I spotted this too its like he got into Usmans head and hypnotised him lol hes fainting and twitching for a good 40 seconds leading up to the head kick

Much respect to Leon and his team.
No. It never looked like a lucky shot at all.
Learn from this.
Be less ignorant.
@@EightFrancs be less ignorant?
This video just made it seem less "lucky" and more of a good strategy. But still I can see Usman defending that combination easily and the match ends with a total domination. It's still lucky cuz it worked, and Usman happened to not defend it in the last 50 seconds.
Even if unplanned it wasn't luck. Of course he has worked on his kicks anyway- and here drilled for a specific situation.
what a legendary moment, it was written. the comeback from being down 3-1 is insane, congrats champ well deserved victory 💪😎

That head kick was a thing of beauty
Am so pleased for Leon
What ever happens now he has made a mark in MMA history
During Leon's introduction, he was putting his hand to his head and calling a headshot. What a team!
They had to put skid pads on Leon's nuts so they don't scrape the ground
The way Usma. Head rolled back along with his eyes. Second time I've seen a fighter actually look like they died in the octagon. The first was Machida when Jones choked him out. Now Usman.
Facts man saw his nightmare for the first time
gotta put Ferguson when he got hit by Chandler
I remember that Jones 1. The way he just dropped Machida and walked off was cold af 👌
I mean Ben askren after the knee was pretty scary. Masvidals lifeless body after Usman knocked him out was scary too.
Usman was starring straight up into heaven, his eyes never so much as blinked
It's fantastic to see Usman has absolutely 0 chance of using an excuse for Rocky getting lucky with this head kick.
Tbf to him he hasn’t even tried to make an excuse and has been so gracious in defeat. Never was a fan of Usman but my Gd he has my respect after seeing the way he handled it
The fight seemed to look like Leon was beating himself rather that Usman beating him. Then training and muscle memory is always there for fighters of this level. It was amazing and this footage is Gold. R.I.P Usman.
@Far7rom yeah I get that but both in the same situation. Leon was struggling with Usmans pace and being in his face. Dinn Thomas was right, he could not look his coaches in the eyes coz he know he was being dominated and on the verge of being beat.
seems like all famous kicks/punches been drilled for that moment ….. what a beauty
Hard, smart, precise, well supported work. Congrats team!
This concept applies to every move, kick, punch in fighting! That’s why they drill them over and over again. Game plans are great when they come together but they don’t always work out 100% like this. But this is a great example of capitalising on a single scenario that may happen in the fight.
Probably one of the best moments of UFC history. Everything about this fight makes it a special 1 and Leon deserves everything that will come with it 💯💯
Now the headshot gesture by Leon just before the fight makes even more sense
Kudos to his corner reminding him of what hes capable of 🎯 A strong team is a MUST
Jesus Christ .. imagine the fights this guy gets ahead.. if his team is this advanced In looking for the perfect opportunitys.. this guy could reign champion for a long time...
thing is ith Usman being so solid there is only one or two openings like this , for other fights like say Nate or belal there's lots of potential openings so to focus on one could turn out to be detrimental compared to just an all round camp
This was like a Masvidal Knee moment incredible 🔥🔥 And Leon did it on the #1 p4p 💀💀
That was F-ing AMAZING!……Leon, did more then his “homework.” Smh
Two GREAT warriors!!!
Please don’t overlook the years of dedication and training that it takes to execute a moment like this.
Come on Leon, absolute gent and legend now!
Absolutely superb, incredible and well deserved.
So happy they released this.
The fact Leon said in interview his team were calling for this for a few rounds and he weren't doing it. He wasnt lying lmao absolutely nailed it in the end!
That’s actually pretty amazing. He just puts the left hand out there while simultaneously starting the kick, usman parry’s the left hand inside and has no idea the kicks coming. Makes sense it worked late into the fight when Usman was cruising a bit.
same thing Robert Whittaker does alot the 1-2 into a head kick the 2 comes at the same time
This is why the coaches deserve the big bucks.
Preparation is the key
These guys deserve much more recognition. That’s what a coach is all about. True masters of the sport. Respect!
Your practice always has to be harder than the real thing. Amazing leg kick!
I had no idea why everyone was underestimating this match-up. I've been said it, Leon Edwards is the most underrated fighter in ufc history.
It's all well an good saying it when he's won. But the amount of doubters and hate i seen on his name in the build up was mad, now everyone is switching up like they've been fans from the start
I mean... He was being dominated until the last minute though. I think most people recognize that Usman is better overall thanks to his wrestling. Kuddos to Leon though.
I was supporting Leon but wrestler vs striker matchups do not USUALLY favour the striker, especially when that wrestler is world class like Usman, lol.

It’s like when Masvidal was drilling that flying knee. Except this time Leon executed it perfectly with a feint and wasn’t a fluke.
Lol, I don’t like the serial assaulter either but saying it was a fluke doesn’t make sense. He literally ran across the cage with all intentions of landing that knee.

How can anyone say that’s a fluke he set it up perfectly with amazing timing on the faint absolute casuals some people 😂🤣
No words! Mad respect to the team!
Beautiful. They saw a clear hole and worked their way to taking advantage. It's amazing to see how much thought and conscious decision went into it.
Using the art of misdirection, range calculation, hours of drilling in the gym and then putting all of that into action in the last round of a championship fight against the PforP after being controlled for 20 minutes, and with technical perfection is not lucky. It would be an insult to both fighters to call that lucky.
veryone saying he was controlled round 2 but if watch it up till 90seconds remaining it was a fairly evene round till Edwards actually put himself on his back with a mistaken td attempt on Usman

No such thing as a fluke in a ufc title fight
The set up and the kick a thing of beauty :)
The footage shows Edwards kicking off a 1. but in the fight he kicked off a 2. The magic of his roundhouse was that he feinted with his left jab and kicked with his left and he didn't pump his jab hand over his roundhouse. Watch Muay Thai fighters drill roundhouse kicks and they are countering their rotation by pumping their hands down. Edwards generated incredible speed, precision, and power at the end of a fight he had been loosing with an unorthodox kick loaded with fight IQ. That's the key to Edward's historical knockout.
