This is just a quiet, smooth, easy listen in the first half...and then it takes a slow, dark turn. Then things start to get...not just dark, but dreadful and dim... I've listened to this three or four times now and only just now remembered to comment on it. Excellent script, and excellent performance. Nicely done.
Scene: An evening arcade in the fast encroaching night of Portland, Oregon. The Subject: You. The arcade just got a brand new video game named Polybius. Urban legend? Or something stranger than fiction? Appearing without notice, rhyme, or reason. A video game that is said to be more than simple arcade fun. It is said that more you play it, the more you can't stop playing it even if you step away from the screen and your pockets run empty. Fifty American cents, a simple joystick, and a few buttons are all one needs to press start and enter the virtual portal into fantasy and imagination. A realm of digital sounds, pixels, and sinister conspiracy that takes on an entire life of its own. Advance to the Next Level: The Twilight Zone.
A seemingly innocent arcade game cabinet that binds those bold enough to play it to a cruel fate. No mere measure of mindless entertainment, we ourselves are the characters, assets randomly generated on the level named “Earth” in the grand game of “Existence”. A game controlled by the will of fate itself that has no ultimate end goal but ever marches to it’s inevitable conclusion. A game that is played in... The Twilight Zone.
This is actually exactly what I was looking for! I love listening to asmr that fits the vibe of the story I’m writing, and this is exactly it. It’s literally a horror arcade novel with an ominous, secretive but still oddly cheerful vibe. Thank you so much!
I was actually thinking about Polybius while listening to this. I guess it was a natural subconscious conclusion when "arcade" and "horror" are put in the same room.
First part is sooooo dreamy~ All I could think of when you started leading me to the secret entrance at the back of the arcade was Tron Legacy 🥏 I love this RP, it's so incredibly relaxing😌 and the appeal of Polybius speaks for itself
Have you seen the Stuart Brown (Ahoy) documentary about the game? It's absolutely fascinating and well worth a watch. I absolutely love the atmosphere you build in these longer roleplays.
Great as always Aurora, your whispering is great and the background noise/ambience is wonderful. The little missprenounciations are silly and a lil bit cute but it didn't take me out of it. Thanks for the video Aurora, I hope you're proud of it.
I had to listen to it during afternoon because I already tried to listen to it like four nights in a row and I kept falling asleep lmao; what an interesting take on the urban legend, it`s very interesting.
I was wondering if anyone would have commented this. At first I was like, "Whoa what? Dragon Quest in an arcade? How would that work?" Then I realized what had happened.
Net Cafes are still a thing in Australia, but that’s because our internet is hot garbage. Arcades barely besides like bowling alleys and some very very rare places.

Ah the good old days of of placing a quarter on the machine to get your spot to play especially with fighting games. That was fun
I had a little pouch I would tie on my belt loop to put tokens in like a pirate
@@AlternateAurora Yaaargh Arcade matey!
The Arrrrrcade
What do you mean with "good old days"? How are the -youngsters- other kids do it these days?
Look at me I'm old I did shit that only old people experience 🤓🤡

Sounds like such a cool story! Good luck with your writing!
@@AlternateAurora thank you! ❤️
The longer you look at the picture, the scarier it gets.
Yeah I know, Frogger is terrifying.

I have not! Honestly I hadn't really heard of this game before this video!
Yo better let the foundation know that SCP-034's escaped.

Thank you! I am really happy that you enjoyed it ❤ I am proud! I think it turned out nicely :)
@@AlternateAurora :D I'm super happy to hear! I'll be looking forward to your next video ^-^
"Gravity defying appeal" lmao It's true.
If only I could be so free from the bonds of psychics
@@AlternateAurora do ya really want that?
I can't tell whether to be asleep or awake
_confused tingles_
Yeah
"I'm just some girl in small town america"
Yes, and she also glows in the dark
If you hadn't put it in the title, It would've taken me a while to realise this wasn't a flirty roleplay. I enjoyed it though, nice work!
i get very entertained, nice asmr!!!

I don’t know how I missed this video, definitely one of my favorite storylines. Phenomenal work as always!
A fun take on the Polybius mythos.
The moment you said the name of the game my heart dropped. I should have seen it coming. This was amazing though! I love it!
Thank you!! I'm glad you liked it!
your videos are amazing i wish i wasn’t such a scaredy-cat :(
Aww, that's okay! I'm actually easily spooked myself:)
This gave me the strangest Gantz feeling for some reason. Keep up the good work Aurora 😸
Ooh, thank you! I'm a big Gantz fan so I appreciate that!
Ah this was awesome. Arcade theme is always nice.
you cant see me behind the screen, I'm half human and half machine...
This is soo cool, you should be a voice actor!!!
I heard of Polybius from a podcast I listen too and thought it was a super interesting legend!
It is super neat!
"My life is like a video game, trying hard to beat the stage all while I am still collecting coins"
Your best video yet imo! The ambience and music is great, and reminds of a Twin Peaks episode. You should do a continuation.
Thank you! I love the way this one turned out!
Ooo this was awesome I like the story great work to the scrip writer and you aoura another relaxing vid as always I hope your doing well
Back at ya! I hope you're well!

@@sparrowmancerasmr8412 I can forgive a simple mistake but her comment about pinball machines was sacrilege
She really did say 🎮
Why can’t arcades and cyber cafes still be a thing 🤓
A bygone era
Net Cafes are still a thing in Australia, but that’s because our internet is hot garbage. Arcades barely besides like bowling alleys and some very very rare places.
Bowling alley arcades were some of the best
I love Video Games😎👍✌️💙💜🧡💖💗
What I wanna know is do you have air hockey? It's not a proper arcade unless you have an air hockey table.
I love air hockey! Getting whacked in the knuckles by an overenthusiastic puck schmuck is just part of the _experience_
I hate getting a game overs
LOL 😂❤😊
Game over and out of tokens. A terrible fate
The first thing I thought of was Saw.
Would this happen to be the same arcade as the Twisty Tops AMSR
Wouldn't that be a fun canon!
Found the Easter egg in your about
Hey aurora is that Japanese I hear
SUPERHOT SUPERHOT SUPERHOT SUPERHOT SUPERHOT SUPERHOT
I don’t really find this horror,I rather find this a little bit creepy. Just a little bit but nothing to the point or Supernatural horror
Only in Ohio🤦♂️
Sorry to ruin the 69 comments... 😅
... But as soon as I heard Polybus, I was like "Aw heeeeeelllll no!" 🤣
