  • Carpentaria is a 2006 novel by the indigenous Australian author, Alexis Wright. Wright was born in 1950, the daughter of a white cattleman (who died when she was five) and a Waanyi nation mother, by whom she was brought up. She gained university degrees from Adelaide and Melbourne, then worked as a land-rights activist both inside and outside the government, becoming a multi-award-winning author along the way. In 2017, she was elected to the Chair of Australian Literature at Melbourne University.

This was very informative. Short, but sweet. This is a very talented author no one in the states has ever heard of.
