- Check out what food to expect at the Windjammer buffet aboard the Royal Caribbean Odyssey of the Seas cruise ship! We are finally back cruising and are happy to present this comprehensive tour of the popular Windjammer Marketplace café, including what has changes Royal Caribbean implemented versus what we experienced before the shutdown due to the global pandemic. All of the food you see in the video are INCLUDED at no extra charge with your cruise fare.
We were impressed by the selection- there was something for everyone, including vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free offerings, and even a kid's corner as well featuring burgers, hot dogs & fries (adults are welcome to take food from there too). There was even fried chicken & waffles one night. It was the Royal Comeback indeed.
Some of our favorite foods from the dinner buffet included:

* Various Indian Curries
* Italian Meatballs

* Chestnut Truffle Risotto

* Donuts Station
* Garlic Shrimp (too bad only 1 night)
* An unique dessert named "Brookie" (Combination of Brownie & Cookie)
* All the fruits & veggies, including Goldenberries & Dragonfruit on select nights

I have missed you. I love watching your wife taste the food. She is all about the food and experience not about her nails and showing off. I will never go on a cruise cause I am elderly and deathly afraid of water (big water...childhood trauma). Lol. Happy cruising. Be safe.

Royal Caribbean knows how to do food RIGHT. Cruised with Princess for the first time back in September, and the food was horrible in every venue. Everyone aboard was complaining. I’m staying loyal to Royal. Great video!!!

Good afternoon Joann & David, so great to see you back on the sea. Also that self-serve buffets are slowly appearing again. When we were on Celebrity Millennium in November, the crew were serving which was OK with us. The food in both the Oceanview Cafe and the MDR were creative, plentiful and very tasty. The only entrée Jill did not like was a beef with way too much gorgonzola melted cheese on it. We did try escargot, baked Alaska, Waldorf salad, beef bourguinon, and squid (eeew). We're looking forward to our June 2022 Celebrity Summit 10 night cruise to Bermuda. Let's see what the virus throws our way next. Hi from Bob and Jill in Connecticut

We definitely didn't get escargot at the buffet 😋. We remember the Summit well- great ship and crew- you guys will will have a great time!

excellent video. Done year ago. Now you can serve yourself but buffets probably the same. Deciding to eat ocassionally at buffets are nice ...lunch at buffets ...this time 11/4-11/11th we have grand suite, normally I eat by myself breakfast husband sleeps late but being in GS I can order breakfast and eat myself before we leave for excursion or other days.

It was a little gamey, but the curry flavor was good 🙂
Try it. Goat curry is a staple dish in the Caribbean. Sadly too many use mutton, not goat.
I was going to do the traditional dining but the buffet looks too delicious :)
If you have the early seating, you can, if you're not full already, go to the buffet afterwards and see if anything looks interesting 🙂

Wow, Windjammer looking good! A lot of unique dishes. Were the unique items in the MDR the same night too?
They did a good job having slight variations here and there so. We'll be doing a MDR food video so stay tuned!
I assume you've eaten often at the MDR and other restaurants so that eating at Windjammer every night wasn't a problem. I'll be on this ship in April and appreciate the video.

I think you've changed my mind about getting the dining package everything looks great. Does the main dining room keep the same food theme as the buffet? This is my first RC.

Great share! I wonder if guests able to get the juice at the windjammer to be filled to our own tumbler? It would be nice to chill at the balcony while sipping the fresh juice. 😊
Thanks! 🙂 You sure can! Though for sanitary reasons they won't let you use your own bottle to refill- you would have to use a new glass every time, and then pour it into your tumbler.

You're very welcome- have a great cruise! Yes you do need to show a negative test result for COVID 2 days before boarding. It could change in May but probably not, but Royal will keep you updated on the protocols.

Good video, what time did you go for dinner as the buffet looks empty, or was this a limited capacity cruise?
I have just booked my first royal caribbean cruise, seeing the food makes me think I am not leaving the buffet.
Thank you! That was at around 7 PM to 7:30 PM. This was over Christmas a couple months ago, so yeah not quite full capacity yet, but still quite a few guests.

Proper Chips in the Fish and Chips I am impressed but not with paying for the Tea and Coffee that is free on the P&O ships at the Buffett Horizon restaurant but you do pay for the Costa Coffee at various venues on the ships
The regular tea and coffee are free but yes the premium ones like espresso/latte cost extra. Thanks for the comment!

Sailed the Odyssey of the Seas on Dec 18, 2022. I found the Windjammers food selection and quality isn't the same. I'm guessing cut backs due to Covid is the reason.
We have to agree to a certain degree. We noticed there wasn't anything fancy at the buffet unlike our past Royal cruises, and this is pretty much their newest ship. But overall the variety was still quite good and enjoyable.

I've watched a couple of your videos so far, and I've come to notice something, so I gotta ask, does your wife eat any with her hands? 😂 I totally get eating a steak, chicken, and etc. With a fork & knife but a meat patty, and butter chicken +roti, she has crossed a line 😭 , but no hate thought honestly, i just found it funny and surprising.
Yeah we prefer not to touch food with our hands, so when it comes to finger food it could seem a bit odd 😁

Would have to pick MDR since they typically have better food there. It's usually a good idea to get to the MDR 5 to 10 minutes before opening for the fastest service.

They sure are, except at the bar where if they are selling freshly-squeezed juices and premium coffee

Absolutely- you can bring the food from buffet back to your cabin. I once brought the dessert back to my cabin from the main dining bc I really wanted my favorite dessert but was too full at the time, and would like to eat it later. 🤣 They were ok with it. Also, You can wear a mask if you enter be a crowded room if that make you feel more comfortable regarding covid. I have been on a few cruises already and it’s all good.🙂

Lol that's our son- he goes to every cruise with us. You definitely don't have to share a table. At the buffet you can sit at whichever empty table you'd like. For Royal Caribbean main dining room, you'd specify the table size when you're booking the cruise, and for dinner you will have an assigned table you go to every night. You can always ask to change your table if you don't like the location.
@@TravelTouristVideos oh ok good to know. My parents are Asian and they don't speak much English. Wouldn't it to awkward for others or my parents so if my family did go I think sitting with just my family is fine.
Take away the Vegan and the Indian dishes, and the menu looks pretty bare. I used to work for RC and left just before the cuts hurt the brand too much. That was a good decision,
Yeah we did notice some cutbacks, but overall the selection was still pretty good. Are you working with a different line now?

Yes in the past you can just use sanitizer, but now they make sure you wash your hands before entering the buffet.

Hate seeing food wasted. Just to get a plate and have one or two bites to say that you tried it is not very appealing. At least divide up the plate with your spouse or partner.

Honestly that was the most basic buffet I've ever seen
Where's the ...fried chicken/fish...meat loaf... roast beef...frog/crab legs.... sweet potato....green beans???? The chili looks hideous. Toss it overboard.....get a new chef and menu.
Not for me until they do away with the ridiculous mask and other related nonsense. At the least, revise to make them optional.
It's the weight loss cruise. You grab a big plate of delicious food, discover its virtually impossible to eat through a mask, attendants remove your full plate and boom...you didn't ingest a single calorie!
