Also indescribably nice. I’m fine with going to Disney just for Tomorrowland.

Oh, Randy. I wonder if you've heard this (you probably have.)
_Something_ set me off years ago against Disney, I can't even remember what it was. Cemented probably partly with how youngin' oriented Disney Channel was/is (and I'm only 30) but it always seemed to rub me the wrong way. I've slowly been leaning the other way over the years.
I was eventually given the opportunity to visit Orlando, it was spectacular. I would absolutely go back if I could afford it, but it's waaaaaaay too expensive. Prohibitively so. I've watched tons of Midway to Main Street, Defunctland and Bright Sun Films...and I'm sure others...on the parks and company, and can't quite figure out why I've had this persisting distaste for Disney. I often think my distaste for "the magic" was a little unfounded, or unfair. Like I said...no idea what caused it initially, although the Mulan filming controversy partly contributed to it. Maybe it's just too wholesome for me, but I think we're rapidly approaching the point of welcoming content like that (not that we should live in denial of all the awful things going on - but we also shouldn't actively ignore them, either.) A little positivity or "looking at the bright side of things" can't hurt.
Listening to this reminds me that while I may have had some objections in the past (whatever they may have been..) I should still be able to appreciate the thought and effort that goes into things like this. Things like this, the theming, the incredible work the imagineers do every day - such as they have been doing for decades - I just wish I could afford to experience it firsthand again. Hell, I have family that works for the company. They get to experience this sort of thing _every day._
Can't help but wonder what Walt would think of modern day WDW as a corporation. Lord knows he'd be blown away by the astronomical global operation they're running. I also wonder if he'd be upset by the inclusivity they've steered towards as a public entity (thanks for that, guys, for real, it's appreciated, like...a lot.) I do wish they'd stand their ground globally, though - such a large entity making claims like _hey you know this is a human being right?_ are so rare with big companies. We're in trouble, help us. Stand up for us. Don't half ass it. Don't prioritize profits. Prioritize _people._ _Your people._
At any rate...the only memories that really stick with me are the world showcase and the airport. I remember the rest of it, vaguely, but finally seeing it in person was something else. I'd like to go back, someday. I'd like to treat my partner to what he really wants - the giant star wars nerd he is. I just wish it wasn't so cost prohibitive.
Anyway thanks for reading my weird little yammering about nothing, I'm going to go open another beer and get a little deeper into this weird corner of youtube I've found myself in.
