The Boulder Boys Take a Risk By Splitting an Uncut Opal | Outback Opal Hunters

- The Boulder Boys find a huge piece of uncut opal. Deciding to take a risk and split the rock to see how much opal is inside, they could potentially double its value or end up destroying it completely. After failing to find opal for two months, Aaron and Ron's livelihood rests on what's inside this ironstone boulder.

lol that joky joke at the end. I think that's the best opal ive seen someone find on the show! Well done!
I know they’re only interested in the opal, but I was sorry they had to cut that beautiful specimen of striped Boulder Opal. Wow!

@@IAmOnTheInternetz I heard gold rush is fake
@@scorcher46 yeah... That 10000oz+ of Gold they find is fake..🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@scorcher46 it is very fake
@@scorcher46 every show is fake. Not saying the work and stuff they find is fake. But all shows are scripted in some way and scenes are over dramatized
why is every episode "they will lose the claim if they don't hit it big"
Because it's a horrifically unstable occupation.
Because that gets more people to watch
@@Redstorm1554 And yet they spend their whole lives doing it. Doesn't sound that unstable.
it brings emotions into it and makes people want to watch more.
Greedy.
Been waiting on this one lol
Oh I forgot to say you to really make it worth watching yous do for sure
I can't wait till the next instalment.
I actually prefered the rock after it been cleaned up before being cut in half, glimpses of colour through the cracks off the rock.
Glimpses don't pay bills that rock will become a bunch of profita or pieces for the cutters and faceted to use.
I dont because I assumed it was just small cracks and it could habe been before they opened it. No way it look like the whole middle was going to be opal
That opal is so stunning
Absolutely amazing
WHAT A FIND!! 😎🖒
Wow amazing opal nice job

Im calling Mike Nolan to ask if he wants to hunt opal's and thunder egg's out in Australia 🌏🦘
Yeah naah naah yeah naah
That gem would've been huge if not cut in the middle tho
It's more solid towards the middle not cutting it like that could risk in it cracking in multiple pieces
Jewelers like to have some rock backing for their pieces and if they'd left it whole it would've taken a huge amount of rock to back it. Not much call for jewelry that weighs a pound or more. By splitting it they have mirrored pieces which makes it worth even more as matching earrings.
@@dahm2696 -you don’t know anything about this, because if you did, you wouldn’t have made that comment! It’s not that simple.

That looks like a fossil of some kind.
Why don’t they use a Drexel to remove just the rock?
Last joke is the most dad joke i've ever heard
How do I find a job with someone like them guys?
😍😍😍
"Now thats some cala"
Wow😘
Libras lucky gem
I hope they don't ruin that piece that was pretty blue
Whats stopping them pocketing opal?
The guy who owns the land will stop funding them if he doesn't get opal, so while they could make money short term, they would likely lose the financial support and access to the land in the long term.
not sure why they split them. wouldn't it be better to just grind it off and have one massive opal instead of two medium ones?
looks like glass
I feel like electric machinery powered by solar panels could be more efficient and cheap to run than diesel? Just a thought lol
Solar panels are not cheap
It’s much higher risk
Efficient for the environment yes, not so much a convenience than diesel. What if they have a rainy day/week?
i thought they were gonna remove all the brown rock from it, i dont get it.
im not an expert with boulder opal, but its likely that the deep colors would fade without the dark background the boulder provides. Plus, some jewelry is designed to highlight natural features like host rock, and boulder opal takes a really nice polish.
1:09 I will give You "zegarek"? sounds Polish ^^
