Japanese Onsen Ryokan Tsuru no yu in Nyuto Onsen, Akita - 乳頭温泉 鶴の湯

  • Rated the most popular onsen among foreign travelers who visit Japan, Tsuru no yu sure doesn't disappoint! With the multiple baths it boasts, warm and comfortable tatami rooms, traditional meals made with local ingredients, and a rustic beauty, it's no surprise that this onsen is popular among locals, too.
This onsen is perhaps most famous for its mixed bath and while I was really nervous to try it at first, the experience was really a comfortable one because the onsen staff have clearly considered the privacy of us ladies! Women enter the mixed bath from the side through a sheltered pathway and considering the milky white bath water, I was totally at ease throughout! 10/10 will recommend! (:
Come check out Tsuru no yu 鶴の湯 with me here!

Thank you so much! Not at all! It's absolutely free! And because it's free and can't be reserved, people can just get in line for it, but also spend as long as they want in there! However, it also means you may have to wait a long while before it's your turn. Here's my tip - take an evening nap after dinner, head over at night and chances are they're vacant :D I went around midnight and didn't have to wait at all

Thank you for the video! How much does the room there cost? Also is it hard to get there?

Igor Sg hello! I got the cheapest room for my travel buddy and I, and iirc it was only 9830 yen for a night, and comes with dinner, breakfast and unlimited bathing at their public and private baths (featured in the video).
I know it’s in Japanese but here’s the website for reference www.tsurunoyu.com/FONDMENT/t-heya.html I think the pictures and prices may be helpful.
Getting there was manageable, there are scheduled buses to tsurunoyu from JR Tazawako Station. Not understanding Japanese can be hard but don’t fret! There is a visitor center/counter at the station and you can ask them questions/for directions ☺️
      Thank you for watching! 🌟

Hi Christina! While I booked mine on the Japanese site, perhaps these links could help start you off on your search? :D

@@phyllischua275 I asked Japan official tourism in Canada n they cannot confirm travel arrangement web site is legitimate. Anyway, your reply is much appreciated.

@@christinasham7356 I see! I removed the other link (thanks for that) but kept the official site's. That one is legitimate, and I found the information I needed there and called the number on there when I booked my stay :) You can definitely call them (understand that it's an international call and may cost a bit) but the direct phone line is the best way to make your booking! All the best, Christina!
