- Bandai removed cash prizing from the competitive events despite telling us earlier this year it would be present.
Traveling is one of the most preventative aspect of competing, so while I am a fan of travel vouchers going to top players, the way the announcement was made says a lot about how Bandai feels about the game and that cannot be ignored.
We deserve better.
Battle Spirits has huge potential but the way Bandai handled the game made it basically dead on arrival.
Main Issues were:
-Bandai fucked LGS in USA due to oversupplying the stores by forcing them to take 10 cases of BSS01. Huge offer, low demand, price tanked. Many LGS didn't want to carry the game anymore.
-In Europe we had to wait for October to have BSS on Cardmarket ,so until then card circulation was impaired.
-BSS01-BSS02 Meta was horrible. First Netherworld Depths and then Axebiter. Those cards created an horrible gamestate, that was overly punishing especially for people who weren't that expert on TCGs and were catapulted into BSS in difficulty level: HARD. The game wasn't fun with those cards around and they discouraged newbies and even veteran tcg players.
-Bandai fucked the tournament scene by not creating regionals immediately. Also in Europe they hosted Grand Opens in United Kingdom which is no longer an EU member,so more travel difficulties.
-No freaking advertisement.
The game is on life support as of now and i don't see the game thriving in the future, just barely surviving. Those who left the game will probably not come back. Bandai ruined everything again. I'm just playing BSS02 post banned and BSS03 formats because BSS04 meta sucks.
Bandai has a consistent history of just screwing its advertisement up over here which sucks because im just getting into it and seeing everything they have for this game in japan and seeing how little we have in the US because of how bandai sucked at advertising is a pain.
I always say they should have invested in having videos with tolarian community college instead of a post with Avril Lavigne.
they really had no idea what they were doing with this game. its sad, i wish they couldve just eased into this instead of taking the overwatch approach in trying to force a competitive community.
Thank you so much for this video! Means a lot to hear this from fellow players!
You bet!
the game is done , i don't see it coming back from the grave they digged with their own hands
Remember when every bit of marketing this game had was cash prizes?
I do. There wasn't much else to market about it since you can't really say "We're re-releasing a game we have already stopped supporting once before."
@@BingPG The Duel Masters reboot learned that the hard way and if Chaotic ever does its reboot there's a very high chance it'll also have to learn that lesson.
In some country cash prize is like gambling and get strict with laws
This is very true and my best guess as to why the first Pro Fest is being held in the US.
Great video, I agree with a lot with what you are saying. I got into BSS at BSS02 because of the Gundam collab, as you can imagine the card value was at an all time low, stuff has finally stabilized a bit which is great. But ya the miscommunication was a HUGE WHIFF for Bandai and I wish that was either handled better or they stepped up the support with communication to communities because it does get REALLY bad at times.
Looking forward to seeing you around Bing! Subbed :)
I got in during set 2 as well. $25 boxes were so convenient, but I knew it wouldn't last haha. Communication is really important right now and I just don't think Bandai should sweep this under the rug.
Thanks for the sub!
Bandai promote its own card game? Unheard of. They barely promote their card games and it's just mind blowing. I mean they have dragon ball, one of the most well known animes in the world and even they cant make it popular. It's kind of weird? Sad? Idk just doesn't make sense to me what these big wigs think and how their minds work.
DBFW could always make a come back when the ban list hits. They also have a new video game coming out, so that could attract new eyes, but generally speaking, I agree with you. It's hard to promote a single game when you're saturating the market with more, but that's a separate issue.
well said 🙏
That coming from you means a lot to me. Thanks!
Yeah hearing you could get so much money from playing made me want to spend my money to try and compete
This is ultimately my biggest issue. Advertising monetary incentives to buy and play the game and then backing out after the release of a set is very scummy behavior.
@@BingPG Using money as a main motivator to play a game attracts the wrong kind of people to it
@@elin111I hear you, but on this I'm indifferent. BSS is a hard game to market in the US because it's not tied to a popular IP outside of Japan and in this market, I can't really argue that it can survive on it's gameplay alone either. It's perfectly understandable for people to want a return on their investments, both time and money, because TCGs are not a cheap hobby. So no, not every person that comes into the game for money alone is an all-around winner of a person, but money can keep good people around.
Dead game rip love the game tho
Bandai makes a lot of these
