Yeh except The Recon Battalions were never actually in Grenada and here is why Greneda was a very last minute thing that had to be very hastily put together with what was available and close. There is no such thing as an individual Recon Platoon serving a Regiment as depicted in the Movie. There are 3 Recon Battallions each organic to a Division HQ not a Regiment. Each has a Force Recon Company organic to the Battallion. 1st Recon Battallion which is part of 1st Marine Division is in Camp Pendalton California and 3rd Recon Battallion part of the 3rd Marine Division is in Hawaii. This was the Battallion that fought in Khe Sahn and the Battle for Hue City depicted in Full Metal Jacket my uncle Bill was a member of 3rd Recon Battallion and his Lt Frank Reasoner was a Medal of Honor Recipient. both those units are in the Pacific not enough time to get them to the Atlantic. The 8th Marine Regiment also depicted in that movie was indeed the Marines that fought in Grenada they are part of the 2nd Marine Division in Lejune. The Second Recon Battallion was already in Lebanon and were some of those killed at the barracks bombing hence no Recon Marines in Greneda. The mission depicted in the movie did happen it was done by the 75th Ranger Regiment the actual pre landing Recon was done by members of 7th Special Forces Group and SEAL Team 4.

One of the big problems was the SEALS had not done much real world combat since Vietnam and both SEAL Team 6 and 4 were brand new. SEAL Team 6 in 1980 and 4 right before Greneda. Some SEAL Team Six guys drowned off the coast because there was a storm off the coast at the time and they were overloaded carrying more than 100 pounds each.

Pup Ville No! He is not spouting BS. The reason for the similarities in the design of the helmet and why it looks similar to the German Stalhelm, was due to the techniques used in it development. They are almost identical. The public was not originally aware of this, and lead to a SMALL amount of outrage, but mostly confusion. Once the military explained why the two helmets looked alike, the confusion dissipated almost overnight.

take time to think a little, dear folks,
the Castroists in Grenada who had fired on US troops
were later allowed to go back to their beloved el-jefe Barbudos.
Go back in time to think just how Guevara was found & captured & dispatched in Bolivia.
Back to Grenada, el jefe Barbudos who was the "holy" inspirator of Bishop,
just after the perestrelka resulting in the dispatching of the latter & his disciples,
issued an official statement condemning com-rats Coard & Austin.
& after the Yankee invasion, el-jefe Barbudos simply declared that the
Grenadan revolution was over.(0:53 -1:02) & he said it before our estimable speaker.
No encouragement to the Grenadan com-rats in rising up against the Yankee villain occupiers.
& Austin was whisked away by the Yankees & later got off practically Scot-free.
Yeah, keep your friend Batista close & your (false)enemy el-jefe Barbudos closer.
So that you can use the closer one to stab in the back the close one.
Friends, you have to respect & share with.
(false)Enemies, they do every dirty work of yours for free,
because they owe their survival to you.
Keep your friends close & your (false-fake-bogus)enemies closer.
    & It was repeated
    in Iran,
    in Iraq,
    in Nicaragua,
& in Angola where el-jefe Barbudos' goons were sent to guard
the exclave Cabinda (North of Angola's North) oil fields for Standard Oil.
So on whose hell of a side was el-jefe Barbudos on.
