Not sure I understand your question, the whole slam module would be solving localization too. But having say an imu can do pose estimation that and the laser scan should be enough for the localization
This is like a rumba DIY kit thing so it has the module implemented but like they said before it can know the position based on the laser scan that i does since it can rember the point that it has scanned before
I've not used this, but I'm pretty sure the scanner creates a small wifi network that you connect to on your phone. Then, using an app (or maybe a scanner-hosted web app), you are able to access the scanner's stored scans; or see real-time updates.

How do you solve the problem with walking around and knowing your position? Is it GPS?

@@Sisyphus.Yeah I would imagine sharp features like corners and posts can be recognized and referenced from. Probably also uses an IMU as well.
