- Let me start off by saying sorry for the focus quality, I was using a monitor that I don't often use. I had my focus peaking turned on but the results are just not super crispy. Better work next time, I promise!
Since I was nine years old I've known who Kelly was, so needless to say it was pretty crazy to be up on the boardwalk and watch him pull up in front of me. He got out, casual as could be and began giving golf pointers to Evan Gieselman. Shortly after, the two stretched and went out for a surf. My camera battery was dwindling, but I was able to get most of his session in. I posted a little clip on Instagram and he responded saying that he hadn't been on a board in five weeks. Glad to see you're back in the water Kelly, and I hope all is well!
Obviously everyone wants to watch Kelly, however this video has quite a few extremely talented people surfing as well. I want to extend a huge shout out to all of the great people I've been able to meet on the beach lately. You guys coming up and showing love for what I do really means the world. Share the videos if you can, the dream is to get paid to do this stuff. Let's see what we can get this CZcams algorithm to do!

Absolute Florida ripper
Awesome to see Kelly hanging out at the jetties with the locals .I grew up surfing this spot it's one of the best surf breaks in all of Florida if not the entire east coast and their has always been a lot of local talent that can shred with the best of pros .honestly in this small surf Kelly is just another surfer
Jetty life especially when it’s where you started surfing at 7 yrs old then at 16 making the podium in the men’s division but on account of my age I don’t get cash I only receive hard goods. So the beautiful part of jetty life is not only The different kind of waves that break off of a jetty at least our jetty, is a true rock wave, a wide swinger or my favorite, a (bounce wave or WEDGE) that connects to the inside section like a Kira type of wave. The long and short of it is, why does the government or state always have to come and ruin super good waves with their engineers thinking moving more rocks around is going to help the ecosystem. @@BobbyJetty1502 You got that exactly right .besides the NSB jetties my other favorite surf spot as a kid was Sebastián Inlet Jetties .was a awesome point break right from out at the end of the rocks .and look wat happen there ? Exactly wat you said a bunch of engineers came in around the mid 90s I believe (not positive of the exact year) and destroyed that break

Part of why he's the best, growing up somewhere like the North Shore or even CA one doesn't develop the type of momentum control demanded by the east coast. I can remember days at like 13 suiting up when it was 35 degrees out to charge waves smaller than this video, its cool to see the man himself surfing a hometown day like this when he could literally be at his Wave pool or just about anywhere else with perfect waves instead, again part of what makes him the GOAT

As an old school longboarder I still can't get used to the way short boarders dive off their boards head first at the end of waves...lol whereas longboarders always try for the graceful glide off or kick out.

Didn’t realize what an imposing figure he is. Although I’m sure those surfers are “used to” surfing with KS, they still side eye to catch glimpses of his greatness.
I kinda believe every surfer on the planet acts that way, because he's been the best at our sport for decades. Compare it to other sport's greats. Think anyone would side eye while on the same court as Jordan? Hah!
I’ve shared the lineup w/ him dozens of times and it’s unreal how much better he is then everybody. He will be paddling in his own world and catch as many waves as he wants on a packed day at lowers.

NSB is tricky place to surf…so many different angled waves creating soft spots and then very steep…fun though

Man cool video. It was crazy that day 4-6 ft after 3 weeks of no surf. I swear I saw Slater that morning at Lori Wilson just south of cocoa beach. I stopped and said man is that Kelly Slater and was like ehhh probably not. Then I saw people tagging him on IG surfing NSB lol

@@charlesfisk8436 here in FL we measure the part of the wave you surf on. It's clearly 4-6ft walls where you see the surfers standing tall next to the wall for reference.
Never understood the "Hawaiian size" undersizing everything
I don't do Hawaiian size or any other reference than the back of the wave. If you want to say what the face size is of a one to two foot wave it's 2 to 4 ft faces. But I differentiate between the face and the back of the wave. I don't mean anything by it it's just the way I grew up. I'm from California. Like I said whoever is having the most fun wins! :-)

I got to see KS surf in person in 2007, on the best right in the world...........J Bay! Wow! Yeah he does surf pretty good! Then I met him that night at #3 Fat Fish! And he gave us a carafe of wine too! What a cool guy! Oh yeah he Won the J Bay contest that year!

I was thinking that too! In smaller waves we get to see that Kelly "allows" the wave to do the work. Yeah, he's "riding" the wave, but mostly he just adjusts to stay in the wave's power. I know that might be a "duh!" but there's a lot of surfers whose mindset is "It's about what I can do to/on the wave." It's the thing about Kelly I've always admired, that he "meets and greets" each wave as a complete individual. Even at the Surf Ranch he is able to see how each wave is different and therefore has something new to offer. Big fan :-)
