Despite this games flaws, the intros to both sides were great, and really got you immersed. Either Fighting for the British Empire defending the Earth, or a dying civilizations only hope of survival, you really got invested.
I agree. If you've ever watched War of the Worlds Goliath, the intro scene literally goes back and forth between both worlds. We see how both races prepare for their days ahead, either preparing for the invasion, or oblivious to the nightmare to come. We see how they go about their day. We see their families. I got invested in that.
This game was so advanced at the time. Imagine what they could do now. They should remake this game. It would be so cool 😎 on the XboxOne, PlayStation 4 (PS4) & on the Pc .

I actually think games like this should be made again. My dad has the DVD of the musical and the Martian Fighting Machines in this game are actually very effectively designed. Just like in the musical.
Excellent game. Remember playing this for days on my PC. A full CD album of the music came with the game. Was quite easy to beat once you got the hang of defending your territories on the map
For humans I think there were like two strategies, lorries mines and big stationary guns (spamming lorries ironically works) then there was the other which is.. track layer spam. Martians were so broken to play as well, I found out how overpowered the last stage of Canister Launcher was (practically outranges nearly anything and turns the game into WW1 simulator), just need something to take out the Ironclads and that was the game.

The reason scots won so many battles isn't because they are some super human beast that can magically win without the right gear and overwhelming odds because plot armor. I had this game many years ago. You use the Thunder Child, a flying machine and gain trucks armed with heat and Electric Rays. I also had a text adventure/roleplaying game on the Spectrum.

I prefer the ones from the 1968 anniversary radio show. They had reactive armor that disabled the guidance in a missiles warhead so it could not tell its self "hit confirmed" and detonate, lasers for shooting down planes, moved fast enough to keep up with cars, heat rays that could melt tanks, and they knew to kill communications while also leaving buildings in tact to be used to take cover from defensive fire.

It was released on the PC in 1998 as a Command and Conquer type game where u could control both Humans and Martians. The events took place rather quickly, about twenty-three or so days from the start of the invasion to the death of the Martians. London fell within five days. However at the end of the novel ships from the Continent and from the states began shipping in food and supplies to help rebuild the nation.
They shuld remake this game with world in conflict graphics and layout with a total war campaign map and same gameplay and time period with improve physics and graphics of course it would be the most awsome game eva made

@ServingMars The marshans knew english in the original story by jeff Wayne, this is proved when he sates that they had been studying the human race, if you study an alien what are you going try learn first, their language, next is how the tri pods look if you look at the original artwork for the album by jeff Wayne the tri pods you see are exact replicas, and the other example that proves this is when the entire set was preformed live on stage when jeff oversaw the construction of a life size
