for those who were wondering how she calculated these so fast. she basically uses the old asian way of doing math which is using the abacus, except that she visualises it mentally. hence why she was moving her fingers as shown in 0.30. this is really hard, and she is amazing at it! additionally, she is just a math genius who worked hard when she was young.

A genius would be a programmer, engineer, or scientist. A human calculator is NOT a useful skill, in a world of smartphones and computers.
@@RaPTeN777 has nothing to do with how much math u ve studied- its just a way of solving called abacus- in which u are taught some rules and how to then mentally visualise abacus

being able to do arithmetic quickly doesn't mean she's a genius. I can solve a rubik's cube quickly. (sub 15 seconds) Am I a genius? No. Its just practice. If your able to write proofs on stupidly complex problems then yeah, your probably very smart. But being able to do arithmetic isn't a impressive thing.

this is my first time watching Michelle's videos and I AM MIND BLOWN.
For 1:09 round 2, everything may seem difficult and Michelle might seem like a genius but it’s just double digit times single digit. With enough practice and training, you can probably be as quick as her.

my record of multiplying a board of digits is 3 minutes.
im a southeast asian, so i can agree. abascus has been used in many schools to calculate math this fast, doing it mentally
She uses the old Asian way of doing math she uses what is called the abacus and shes just memorised how to use that you can see it in 0:30 look at her hands
its so crazy to think she can actually answer all those questions that face. you'd think she did just write down random numbers, but no, shes just crazy smart and thats so amazing to watch.

The thing where Michelle hears the numbers then writes it out using her fingers is the exact same thing that Chanhee from The Boyz does cuz he's a human calculator as well.
i learned abacus and passed with flying colors about 4 years ago, but i've forgotten everything now. i wish i had continued to practice and get good at it like her! she's such an inspiration.

Math is a subject/category, while arithmetic is its subcategory. Numeration is an area of arithmetic which deals with calculations of the basic mathematical operations.
Maybe at arithemtic. I would be impressed if these were all proofs, but considering that these are very basic problems, I just watch it for entertainment and I'm not amazed at all.

How do you know? so far, I have only seen her doing basic arithmetic which you learn in elementary school. Do you even know how many more courses there are to the entire subject of Mathematics? No offense, just saying even though she is good at the very simple and easy stuff doesn't make her good at all of math or what if she spent a whole decade trying to practice until she was perfect at it? It would make her seem bad at math and yet people tend to think she is good at math just because she is good at doing arithmetic very quickly...

She's great, but these guys are actual Gods. It's like pitting Alexandra Botez in a chess match against Magnus Carlsen. Funny, that actually happened. Magnus played odds games with Alexandra, who is really good by almost any standard (2000 Elo FIDE), where she had 5 minutes and him 30 seconds. He won 9 straight games before she finally got him on time (a few moves away from being mated) in the 10th game.

so if you have a question that’s like 3x25 or something i like to take 3x12 and add on with that so now i know 3x25 is 63

Do 10 a day for a month and you should start matching her round 2 speeds. Its just a lot of tricks (rounding up/down) and some memorization

I tried to used the old asian way but i got confuse and Im the best student on maths in my course. But in the moment that you do a lot of multiplications i finish a division (10 digits) and you’re so fast doing it. Anyways i trying to learn the old asian way. You’re amazing doing it.
fun fact: My teacher and classmates tell me the math or when they don't know what the result is, they say "Ana, do you have the result?" and most of the time I have already solved it and I explain to my other classmates and teachers how to do it quickly by combining numbers to reduce the quantity, although my teacher and classmates do not understand me
