      I have heard that the whole Nuka world dlc aside from the raider story is a parody of Disney land and Hershey land. The side quest where you have to find all cappy is a direct reference to finding hidden Micky Mouse in Disney Land.

      The funny thing is, if you take things like kola nut powder and ground up coffee beans and mix them with either milk or dark chocolate, they work pretty well together. Scho-ka-kola from Germany does just that and it was even issued to German soldiers in WWII as one of the safer stimulant options that they had access to. I've taken a bit of a liking to it myself and use it as a less overkill alternative to energy drinks. I can still see how that would not work as a drink flavor though.

    And on that, Nuka Town, USA is a play on Disney's Main Street, USA; Galactic Zone and Starport Nuka are like Tomorrow Land and Epcot; Kiddie Kingdom is like The Magic Kingdom; I'm not quite sure what Dry Rock Gulch is meant to parallel (if anything); and Safari Adventure, which is meant to be like Animal Kingdom. So, it's really interesting how Bethesda was able to mash PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, and Disney together and have one really cohesive idea that, as Todd Howard says, "just works" as well as it does, pop out of the mix.

    I mean ... Coke is shady as hell and Disney is shady as hell, so go figure how Nuka-Cola, which is based on both, at least after being reimagined by Bethesda, is ALSO shady as hell.

    Actually, on the Nuka-Boost, Coca-Cola has a beverage, Coca-Cola with Coffee. The funny thing is, it wasn't introduced to market (in Japan) until AFTER Nuka World (Aug 30, 2016) was released. It originally released in 2017 in Japan, and was later introduced to America in 2021. That may be purely coincidence, but it does seem interesting, regardless.

    You were talking about Coke and Pepsi & now that they are both part of inspirations for the in-game Nuka~Cola, on that note I saw a news story talking about how my favorite soda Dr. Pepper is now tied with Pepsi as the number two soda in the US.
    @28:43 Nuka~Boost has a real-world counterpart it was called, Coca~Cola BlāK it was a coffee-flavored soft drink introduced by Coca-Cola in 2006 and discontinued in 2008, I remember trying it and it was okay and fairly drinkable if you like both Coke and coffee the closest drink that you could make nowadays to mimic its flavor would be a drink of two parts Coke and one part coffee liqueur that has a very low level of ABV.

    Coca-Cola in real life have released actual blends of coffee and Coke. At first launch over a decade ago it was called Coke Black. Then it disappeared and came back more recently and it was just called Coke with Coffee, or something like that. I can't find it now; they may have already discontinued it again. I AM one of the very few people I know who actually liked it, so
    EDIT - I paused your vid to type this and then immediately saw that you plainly show a can of Coke with Coffee onscreen.

  • @montgomeryfortenberry
    @montgomeryfortenberry Před 5 měsíci +1

    Good vid 👍
    2:46 eh not really. If the marketing was reflective of the bad things the company did people wouldnt be fond of it. They might still enjoy it in a sadistic or sarcastic way but they wouldnt have positive feelings. Thats what makes it good marketing. Vault boy in fact represents all positive things about vault tec. Plenty of real world companies do terrible things and guess what, they all have very clever marketing and pr so they can stay in business.
    Also unsurprisingly nuka world marketing in the game is reminiscent of real world ads from the 50s and 60s. As gamers we play this game knowing or quickly find out that this game is essentially an alternate universe america with real world 50s vibes. The fans that enjoy this fictional americana would most likely enjoy nuka cola because its just another way for the game to push its narrative which we as willing gamers not only are receptive to but are eager to absorb because its world building. And if we dont like it we just ignore that part of the game or dont play it.
    4:10 thats a pretty weak argument even pre-war when nearly everything is nuclear powered and the availabily to tech and meds that can remove or virtually nullify exposure to rads exists. Post war is an even weaker argument. Almost all food, water, air, and soil is irradiated to some degree and tech and meds that can eliminate or reduce radiation is still widely available. Also post war would you water drink some dirty water or an ice cold refreshing nuka cola? Of course people still enjoy the beverage and post war they dont even have to feel guilty about enjoying it because the company doesnt exist and finding a nuka cola is basically like finding a dollar because of the cap. Its a win-win-win.
    Dozens of stadiums can hold more than 40k or even 80k and they are probably all smaller area than nuka world in fo4 but I will say 80k per day is an insane number of people.
