  • In this video I unbox and have a look at the Maverick Quantum XT Flux by HPI. I almost didn't do this unboxing as I know Maverick have done a few upgrades to the newer version of this truck but I general it's still the same. I'll get it out for a run very soon. Enjoy!
    Thanks for watching.

      I think so mate! 😁 Should be fun and hopefully it's as sturdy as it looks, although I've heard the arms are quite weak. Hoping to get it out tomorrow. 🙂👍

    Hi Mick. A great looking RC. Kind of resembles the Arrma’s. Still looks mean indeed. Time for some damn good thrashing I think. Take care and best wishes 😊😉😊

    That's a great car, sir. Got the MT version a couple of months ago and and I love it. Congratulations!
    A couple of tips before running it : Tighten the servo horn screw, replace the threadlock if needed. Check the motor mount bolts and nuts, also the gear mesh. Check the rear power input grub screw. Replace the shocks silicone with a 500 one.
    Done! Your Maverick is ready to bash!

      Thanks mate, I think it should be fun. I think I will be changing that shock oil, it is way too thick. Someone else mentioned the input grub screw too, sounds pretty common that they aren't tight enough. Cheers mate, I'll give it a look over before running. 👍

    these things are insane i just bought newer version being the the 100-amp ESC FLX10-3S100 Version and Metal gear servo, i have the standard one too the MT brushed one(untested) and besides the body being Putzon these as thin as paper ,the rest of it for the money was great value and heaps of fun for a cheap Basher only $389- $489 plus the 15%off(ebay discount) depends which version you buy , 3S and man does it hang a wheelie or two but stays planted when gets down also needed to adjust steering rods to track straighter on the bitumen but yes i can recommend this if your not wanting to out lay over $1200 for a Traxxas especially if your gonna kill it lol - OH and put a good fan on motor running 3S as you can cook a sausage on it and just check bolts all over too .otherwise nice HPI series imo. cheers mick great video bud. :-)

      I'm guessing yours is actually the Quantum+ XT going by the price and the 100A ESC. The non (+) version has the 80A ESC FLX10-3S80 and $368.05 at Hobbies Direct, $454.07 for the +. You did well with the 15% off code, that's always a bonus! I have the Quantum+ XT too and the MT, still unopened lol. I kinda went nuts nuts buying them a while back 😂. Oh yeah they're great value from what I've seen. Haha, cooking sausages at the track for lunch would be cool but maybe not for the truck 😂. Thanks for the tips mate, I'll go over the nut n bolts before I run it. Cheers Andrew! 👍

      @@RCHobbyShed Cheers Mick for your Reply , yes i had to correct the message about 3 times as wasn't 100% sure on specs myself , so i went and got the box and copied that lol , one thing though i wasn't impressed about and also forgot to mention in the initial message is you think they would have included a wheelie bar so that was my only real let down with this i mean really "no wheelie bar" , but oh well bang for buck its still a winner so i decided to put a cheap L.E.D light kit in it instead to satisfy myself but in all honesty its for knowing if i was coming or going as being flat and all,, he he he cheers bud.

    Nice, Mick - I've got the MT version of the same and they run well. Couple of things - you'll want to change the shock oil, its like tar! Go for something much lighter. Then check the grub screw in the drive joint, just in front of the rear diff - notorious for being set too loose and then either vanishing or getting wedged into the drivetrain, neither of which you'll want :) When you can be bothered, its also worth regreasing the diffs and gearboxes as they dont come with that much, although it'll do for the first few runs. As you say in the vid, Maverick have updated the car in the next phase of the release with better driveshafts and (supposedly) suspension arms, as both seem to have been made from monkey crap. Worth investing in once you've bent and snapped the issued bits. Go for the Metsafil arms if you can get them (they're Portuguese), much tougher than the HPI versions. Lastly, do consider running it with 2S - it can cope with 3S but it gets a bit 'unruly' - its just as much fun with 2. Oh, and dont drive flat out into trees - trust me :(

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the info, James. I did notice the diffs spin very freely, as if not enough grease in there. I might run it once then open it up and add some grease... Hopefully I don't kill the diffs first day out like I did the E5HX, which also didn't have enough grease. Seems a common thing in RTR's. I'll definitely check that rear gearbox joint before I take it for the run. Hoping not to bend or break anything but it always happens lol. I checked out the Metsafil arms just now, they look great! I think I will run 2s first, the first time I took the E5HX (similar size and power) out it was on 3s and it would wheelie at pretty much any speed. It was fun but kind of annoying at the same time, I'm guessing this will be the same. Haha, I'll try to dodge the trees! Thanks for the helpful comment James! 👍
