It's timeless. Smells amazing on people even after all these years. I'd rather smell this on a guy the Dior Sauvage anyday. They need to make it into a EDP with the same smell. I hope it will be their next realise. Top seller for a reason. Women like it. Simple as that

With scores of niche and a decade + into this hobby, I still find this to be a citrusy floral masterpiece that is thankfully now becoming less popular owing to the success of its flankers.

I don’t understand why everyone says this is weak and reformulated. It still smells the same as when I wore it in the early 2000’s. I still get a whole day with this 3 sprays and it was a bottle of 2020 -> 38T8004 Great scent

I think it is the reformulation that did this one in. I remember when this came out first. It was the bomb and I vowed to get it. And when I was first able to start collecting and got it I thought something was wrong with mine as I got the stale vibe you described. I sold it and bought another bottle... Same thing. So I know reformulations killed it for me.
I have Ezzenza and enjoy it... Gonna wear it today as a matter of fact.

Reminds me of my history with Cool Water. It was the first fragrance I purchased and I went through multiple bottles back in the late 90s.
Sadly, performance and that staleness is also prevalent with the current formulations of both AdG and Cool Water. I really enjoy AdG Profumo.

It was so amazing, I was in a grocery store, checking out and the guy in front of me and asked if I was wearing cool water. Sadly, I was actually wearing ARAMIS, so he got it wrong but I think cool water actually does have a little bit of a spiciness to it. I think if you’re around people that are not used to clone some of these older colognes can be very new to them. That was my case at least when I started wearing cool water. It was interesting to see this man mistake it for what I was actually wearing.

It's just OK. If the price was super low, maybe I'd get one, but here in Brazil it's crazy expensive due to our currency. Right now, for me, Prada L'homme is my go to fresh scent (not really fresh, I know, but is fresh enough to my taste).

I think you got the nail on the hammer about how so many fragrance companies have copied the DNA of ADG. I feel your frustration, Mr. Daver. I also think that the scent DNA of ADG, as you said in your review of the original Armani Code, has not aged well with time. That's why the original ADG will always and forever be a pass for me. Thanks again for the video, Mr. Daver.

It's not what it used to be anymore. The 90's version was a gamechanger and smelled amazing but now it's reformulated multiple times and watered down. I finished multiple bottles of ADG but i didn't bought it anymore since 2004.

  • @ggbice

I think the appeal is as small as the bottle you're holding. Yet, sales are strong!
Personally, I love less citrus, more bolder marine notes (the sea vrs land). I was raised on Long Island, and salty, kelp like colognes are very masculine and appealing imo, as a woman.

I think your your view of ADG is due to that fact that you have an experience with too many fragrances like other reviewers... I bought a 20ml size out caution because no reviewers recommended it but surprisingly it gets me a lot of compliments especially from ladies. I live in a tropical country where temperatures are high.... people love the scent though it doesn’t project much and doesn’t last long... so my conclusion is that wearing ADG in an environment where people have known and used it for long and are people with above average knowledge on fragrances it will likely not be appreciated/complimented...

The 1996 OG version was great, but as with every frag, it’s been “reformulated” (watered down) to a weak clone of what it used to be.
    Pity.

  • @ghoney925
    @ghoney925 Před 3 lety +1

The original ADG is not still good (IMO) for a couple of reasons. First, there is nothing very unique or exceptional about it anymore. Second, it’s flankers are better - Profumo and Profundo are both upgraded versions of the original scent dna.

As great and classic a scent as ADG is it just doesn't last and immediately smells too familiar and dated. Profumo on the other hand is soooo much better, is uber masculine, lasts all day and even though it isn't earth shattering it just works 😎👍
