- The Tikka T3x Arctic rifle is almost an exact copy of the C19 rifle designed by Sako for the Canadian Rangers. One of the world’s most unique military units- the Canadian Rangers are a small volunteer component of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve. Every component of the Tikka T3x Arctic/C19 was meticulously designed to be rugged and reliable in any environment or situation. When it comes to a wilderness survival/scout rifle, there is no other rifle on the market that can meet-much less beat the quality and reliability of the Tikka T3x Arctic rifle.

I currently serve with the Canadian Rangers and use my C-19 pretty extensively. This year alone it has taken 4 big game animals. The rifle performs flawlessly in the conditions I have used in in. One shot on elk size game at 180 yds…. Lights out and puts the bullets right where you aim.
I have put a couple hundred rounds down range out to 750 yds with ease. A joy to shoot.
Pros:
Accurate
Well built
Simple
Cons:
It’s a bit heavy to pack around on a long day. Sharp edges around the magazine release sometimes catch on things.
Did you use iron sites? What ammo? And is a improvement over the 303?… It sure is a good looking rifle.
@@bryanwiedeman3154 no I put a fixed 10 power scope on it. I shoot a 180 gr bullets out of it. The last animal was 250 yards bullet went through and stopped on the inside of the hide opposite side (elk) so it performed perfectly really. Better than I thought it would.
@@gburwash01 awesome thanks..good hunting from the Wallowa Mountains of Oregon
what caliber are you using?
@@satansfittesleker
The C-19 Ranger is issued in .308 win. We shoot 180 grain accubond bullets and the rifle performs very good!
With this Tikka you certainly get what you pay a lot for considering from a price perspective you are very much in Sako territory - that barrier for many aside I very much enjoy mine in 308 - the battle sights are excellent & the calibration of them is spot on - had no issue hitting my 12" gong at 600 yards with factory ammo. The sights are also fully windage adjustable which is a nice touch - if you wish to mount a scope like I do from time to time, you will need to purchase a cheek rest for a decent cheek weld due to the shape of the stock better suiting open sight use & the need for higher scope rings to clear the rear battle sight - you could remove it but I believe it is not recommended - Bradley Cheek Rests made me a quality color matched cheek rest that suits the Arctic perfectly - the 2 stage trigger is sensational & adjusts all the way down to 1lb if that's your want. Here is Australia plenty of us have enfield 303's - so this new Tikka had me intrigued being a Canadian Rangers Enfield replacement - definitely not a rifle for everyone & is definitely a niche offering - if you are old school & enjoy using battle sights & can justify the price for what I consider a very high qualify rifle with plenty of nice touches - I doubt you would be disappointed.
Do you ever find the front iron sight gets in the way of your scope? If so, at what scoped distance / MOA adjustment do you find it start to intrude?
I’m in Louisiana about as far from Canada as you can get. We don’t get much cold here. I have a 3-9 leupold scope on it. It rides in my truck 365 days. It hasn’t failed me once. On dry land or in the marsh
In the spirit of the Lee Enfield that it replaced, I’d keep the iron sights and run some Mad Minute drills myself. Good looking rifle!
Just ordered mine today thanks to help from Connor. I guess it will arrive from Finland in approximately a month or so. I am looking forward to seeing that this gun can do!
Live in Canada and run from the Rockies to the Northern Tundra need a rifle that I can depend on. And this one absolutely. Thank you for the show just subscribed 👍
Thank God the commercial version Isn't made by Colt.
Colt Canada actually makes pretty good guns.
@@borkwoof696
That's great to know that Colt didn't screw up Diemaco!
Colt has done a wonderful job with it. Finish and function is bang on. No complaints. Very well made.
I have both a CTR and a 42 Lithgow SMLE. If it came to ever needing to chose between the two in a conflict situation I think I would still run the SMLE for the fact that charger loading is not an option with the tikka. Extra Tikka mags are running at $300 each over here in my part of the world, and they are fiddly buggers to reload. What the old .303 lacked in outright accuracy it made up for in being able to get plenty of rounds down range.
I love mine, I live in Australia and use it for service rifle competitions. This complies with the service rifle rules because it is issued (as a C19) to the Canadian rangers
Always wanted that rifle thought it was the perfect "one gun" for hunting north America. Price tag last time I lookef was a little high ended up with a ruger GSR
Very intrigued by this rifle. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I could run the iron sights and suppressor at the same time.
possible. German gunsmiths Roedale do a special version of that, they cut the thread further on the barrel, so the iron sight sits on the threads and still has thread extended for supressor.
Also they cerakote it black and do shortened barrels, 42 and 48cm versions of this. I think much improved version of already good rifle
Indeed this would make a great backup gun when guiding.
I like the iron sights on it, I wouldn’t feel the need to get glass for it as soon as I got the rifle
That's exactly why it costs that much in my opinion.
Just bought one today!!
Got one a couple months ago. Very nice rifle.
The only problem with the Enfield was parts. As a rifle suited to a task it was faultless
Caliber needed updating, though.
@@TommygunNG Agreed .303 is an expensive dinosaur.
I would use that rifle as a guide/brush gun
Since I need reading glasses I found the iron sights blurry with the last 30 min of hunting light so I put on a 1x8 with Cantilever base , also my 308 version didn’t like 168 gn was getting 1.5” groups , switched to 180 grn and 748 win ball powder , and was getting 1/2” groups ,, was so impressed
Would make a sweet all around hunting rig, especially with a red dot or low power variable.
I use a fixed 10 on it. Has served me well. 4 elk 3 deer and a black bear in its short life so far. It’s a joy to shoot.
I’d use it for deer hunting as well as target shooting
I like it. Great caribou hunting rifle.
I use a Warne ar scope mount on mine it clears the rear sight and blends in nicely,
I have done the same thing. Adding a check rest helps though.
I’d like to use it as a general field gun as it was intended. Thanks for the overview and giveaway
Do you folks still sell these?
I’d love to have one.
I own one in 6.5 and removed the iron sights and put on a Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18 FFP Mil dot along with a area 419 Hell Fire Match muzzle brake. 0.5 moa accuracy, ammo dependent.
Would be a good brush gun in the northern Pa woods!
I’d be interested in getting just a set of those iron sights
Soooooo stink’n cool! 👍🏻
Would love to own one! Would hunt everything with it!
Cool rifle
A man's rifle!
very nice brush gun
The Canadians didn’t want it too light if they wanted that heavy, laminated stock!
Composite stocks did not pass the cold weather testing trials we put them through. Wood did much better in extreme cold.
- Grant Burwash.
Canadian Rangers.
These were designed to work in the coldest northern weather possible. Like -50 out. Plastic doesnt do well in those instances.
Can the Tika T3X CTR Arctic be purchased in the U.S. ?
I don’t think the barrel is the same size as the CTR, I believe it is thicker profile on the Arctic as the front sight is too big for the threading on the CTR barrel according to Tikka.
Are the barrels made by Colt hammer forged ? ......this could change the accuracy ? .....may explain the price ?
I want this so bad
What an awesome truck gun this would make! 308 win Please
did they discontinued this rifle?
It's listed as being discontinued on the EuroOptic product page. Really pissed that I missed out on grabbing one, since I'm only just finding out about this model even existing.
@@mmiski idk it comes up ever once in a while on gb thru euro optics but it sin 6.5 creed vs 308.. good luck
Cabellas in Canada is still selling them in Aug 2024
@@geegaw14 yeah, I see that a couple of Canadian retailers have it in stock. Unfortunately can't bring those into the US (where I am).
They are also used to bounce bullets off Russia submarines......
They don't bounce off the submarine optics though, and that's what matters.
I need one.
Can you put iron sights on any Tikka rifle?
Should have shown some or a 100 yard group.
Can I buy the sights separately?
Nice
It's interesting they stuck with a bolt action. I like bolt actions, I'm not complaining but more and more military has gone to an AR platform. But compared to 303 enfield, this is a HUGE step up. I hunt with bolt actions, I think they are great.
This is a survival rifle for extreme cold weather so I guess it makes sense that they chose the more simpler/reliable bolt action.
I would use it for hunting
at 3200$ should have adjustable cheek piece for an optic
Does it need to be so heavy and expensive?
Yes.
I would really like to have one of these rifles, however, I just cannot justify paying $2000.00 when you can get a T3X CTR for $1000.00. Sure, you won't get the nice iron sights or the laminate stock, but....
Can we buy the sights to have them mounted on ctr.
@@travellerusafromthewest3514 no the barrel contour is different according to Tikka so the front doesn’t fit.
I handled them back to back and could feel where the extra coin went - ponied up the $3k Canadian and never regretted it. This rifle is a modern art masterpiece of a weapon with function to match.
@@JohnSmith-gy8rc Contrary to my original post, I must admit that I am now kicking myself for not buying one when they were available here in the USA. The 308 version disappeared quickly and only the 6.5 Creedmore version was available, which I didn't want. It would probably be too costly to import one from CA, but I should still research the possibility.
I would of loved this gun if it wasn't in that god awful stock. The orange grey black mix is hideous. The price is a bit ridiculous as well. Like I can get a super grade Winchester model 70, or an Alaskan, or safari for that price cheaper then this rifle.
I love the stock colors. I was going to buy one but couldn't find a couple years ago. I did buy a Super Grade instead.
The colours grow on you after a while. You get used to them. Gun is worth the cost/hype.
Looks like a dying pumpkin. CZ ranger rifle is much better looking
Left handed? Doubt it you know Canucks aren’t left handed!🇨🇦🫎🤯🔫
