    That valve adjuster tool definitely helps a lot! It was my first time doing a valve adjustment so I went through it twice. Mine was pretty out of spec and I found it made the engine both quieter and smoother
    Definitely recommend doing this!

      Honestly, I want to get a junkyard valve cover t pain up and do it all over again. Maybe this fall. I may get one of those little tools to use as I also want to redo my V6 Odyssey and make sure that new head hasn't settled in any.

    You make great videos and helps tremendously. I have a manual transmission 04 CRV 201K miles and she needs love from time to time. I will look into the valve adjustment for sure. This is first video I’ve seen that makes me feel like I can do it. Great tips especially with the cam lobe orientation while adjusting, replacing the gasket and the tightening sequence. You truly are meticulous. Thanks.

    Excellent video!! Next project. My 2010 is much noisier than my 2008 (owned since new)ever was so I am suspect that something out of spec. I love the “Attention to details” comment. So correct

    This was great. Good tip to use the PS pump to turn the engine in lieu of using the 19 mm crank bolt. I used to check the clearances on my old Toyota 22RE engine and the specs were to be checked while HOT! Glad that Honda has cold spec. I have the Honda valve adjustment tool on my Amazon wishlist. Thanks for reporting on the exhaust measurements as being slightly tight. Was very curios on that after 285k miles. Regarding the wear on the cam lobe, make like VGG and "pretend you didn't see that". LOL

    Is there any way or tool you can use other than sound to know if the valves are too tight or too loose without taking off the valve cover? I thought I read somewhere there is a tool that measures the the space of the gaps of the valves.

    • @clintsearcy3252
      @clintsearcy3252  Před 3 měsíci

      I guess you could do a bleed down test might point to a valve that's too tight but a feeler gauge in the rockers is the real way to be sure.

    Hi. When I adjust the valves, do I do all of them one at a time or do I start with 1 cylinder, 3,2,4 as in earlier engines ? Do I have to lift the cylinders ?

    • @clintsearcy3252
      @clintsearcy3252  Před rokem +1

      I don't. Removing the plugs will make it easier to rotate the motor since you're not fighting compression but this little 4 cylinder motor is pretty easy to turn with the plugs in.

    I have a 2010 with 83k miles. It’s been running rich but no codes or check engine light. Strong fuel smell. Soot in the tail pipe. Had my car stolen months back and replaced with after market. Any advice on what I should do first before bringing it to a shop?

    • @clintsearcy3252
      @clintsearcy3252  Před rokem

      That's a tricky one. I would start with checking the rubber hose on the intake and the cat.

  • @j0lla127
    @j0lla127 Před rokem

    I didn't realize the smaller lobe on the intake side had to be UP position as well when adjusting the valve. I adjusted the smaller cam lobe when the bigger one was in the UP position. Does that matter?

    • @clintsearcy3252
      @clintsearcy3252  Před rokem +1

      For accurate results you need to be sure the point of the lobe is pointing away from the valve.

    • @bckwld32
      @bckwld32 Před 11 měsíci +1

      So do you have to crank the lobe facing up for each 16 valves as you go along? What order do you do them in?
