Once again bandai makes a premium bandai release of kits that have no business being p-bandai
I say fuck P Bandai, they did this way too much. I kit bash myself one like four years ago. I got tired of waiting so I make myself one. I probably may skip this P Bandai since it should have been a regular release.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that with the Dagger L the OG Strike Dagger was basically confirmed... and the subsequent letdown of such a cool grunt being P-Bandai.
Seriously, what are they thinking?

If this was Jean Carrey’s Long Dagger, Buster Dagger or the Duel Dagger, I would understand. But I agree that making the Strike Dagger a P-Bandai kit was not smart.
And they better not fucking make the Aries from Gundam Wing P Bandai also, otherwise I think they deserve a class action lawsuits from their fans. I say this because they are literally ass fucking their customers.
This very topic has been bothering me for some time, so a rant is unavoidable...
I'd definitely get the Strike Dagger but it's just not compelling enough to bother with on P-Bandai. The issue isn't so much price as it is artificial scarcity and waiting months to get the kit. Unfortunately, at some point Bandai discovered that this approach enables them to take just-in-time manufacturing to its logical conclusion. Great for them, but it sucks for the hobby. I was also considering the MG Age-1 Full Glansa, but in light of all this I abandoned the idea.
One apparent consequence of this strategy is that it seems to be hurting small hobby shops that have focused on gunpla. My local shop saw a big drop in inventory through COVID and it hasn't improved. Even reprints of standard releases are infrequent. My guy is able to land new RGs and MGs reasonably quickly, but generally struggles with everything else. He's complained that supply is unreliable; he'll get a ton of one random kit and that's it for weeks, usually getting less than he requested. He's diversifying but I don't think it's helping. Honestly, it seems like whenever a shop expands into model planes and slot cars they're doomed. Of course, Bandai doesn't owe this guy anything, but it's still depressing to see.
I'm also not happy about Entry Grade's simplistic engineering spilling over to High Grades or polycaps being replaced by flimsy c-clips. I was surprised to see all the cheap-looking, hollow joints on the new Aerial. However, that's a whole other discussion and I think I've been negative enough. One thing that's helped keep the hobby fresh for me is airbrushing, although I haven't had much time for it this year. So what's kept me engaged is third party kits, especially Kotobukiya and Megami Device.
Strongly agree on all three points. The hobby store one especially is something not a lot of people consider. Every kit Bandai releases on their own web shop is a kit that every other retailer is locked out of. If you're running a hobby shop, you've been getting screwed hard by bandai these last couple of years.

It's because bandai is focusing on witch of mercury kits.
The first entry of the HG G-Witch was the Lfrith in August. Why do almost nothing for 2/3 of the year? We used to get multiple retail kits each MONTH.

We did get 3 standard release HG IBO kits. It was kinda weird seeing the two WFM kits on the PBandai web shop tho. I wonder if they’ll start putting up standard release kits there too to cut out the middleman

Looking back, the lack of personal use or customs of the Dagger makes it more a Pbandai victim. Hopefully not the all Dagger variants are premium.
Hopefully the theoretical HGCE Ginn, Cgue, and Guiaz are retail along with the Seed ZAKUs. M1 Astray grunt feels PBandai already, and hopefully they'd be generous to make Murasame retail too
What you said at 2:25 just shows how barebones releases have been at retail.
MGs got an updated kit released as two kits and HGUC got ONE kit in the Shenlong.
RGs aren't that common so just the God Gundam and GaoGaiGar are fine.
But MAN has it been a pain in the wallet to have so many P-Bandai kits.
I’d love to finally have a MG Strike dagger. Actually a lot of recent P-Bandai variations of grunt suits tbh.
I was wondering how JP fans felt about the seed HG being a grunt, and they all seemed pretty confused and pissed lol. I think Bandai took it too far this time, and they might see some serious outrage over it.
Also, MG is probably on life support going forward. The standard is going to become about 3 kits per year, with more frequent FM 1/100 kits to replace what would have been MGs. I guess it's the price to pay for RG's basically becoming 1/144 MG's...

The biggest issue about the Strike Dagger is that it was the main grunt suit of SEED. Dagger L is from SEED Destiny and was basically the GM II, a "grunt upgrade" that was obsolete before the series began. But the Strike Dagger was basically *the GM* of OG SEED. The fact this is P-Bandai is not that much worse than making say, a GM Revive, and making it premium. It's frustrating...

Yeah this is mostly why I haven't bothered buying any new gunpla kits recently.
I'm planning to finish my backlog then probably dip out of this hobby until bandai can get their shit together.
Not mentioned about the AGE-1 Full Glansa Designer ver. is that the actual AGE-1 flat body is colored different from the AGE-1 retail version the colors are much more muted and overall darker

Been saying there are more and more p-bandai releases than regular but people keep defending p-bandai.
Oh well, at least Daban is on a roll lately and is releasing more stuff than Bandai(accessible stuff lol 🤣)

Okay.. so rookie question here.. As a novice in the gunpla hobby. I'm seeing the FM line more prominent than MG nowadays. Is the quality of FM the same as MG, or is MG the higher quality line to go for? I don't want to invest in kits that are of HG quality but larger scale. I'm my experience with 1/100 NG lines or anything of the sort, the 1/100s have always felt more like a HG 1/100 version of clunky plastic
FM kits are a lot better than those NG 1/100s, but they aren't Master Grade. They have more surface detail, gimmicks, and color separation than HG, but aren't as complex as a MG. The line between MG and FM is a lot blurrier than it used to be though, as sometimes Bandai releases MGs that barely feel better than a FM. Overall, I'd recommend going with MG if you want higher quality.

This year Bandai clearly was trying to catch up with increased demand post covid. They must have decided to shift several releases to pbandai to limit their production run to focus on restocking product.
So I'm guessing a Slaughter Dagger Revive is gonna be pbandai huh?
that release list is incomplete, i know there were a few HG IBO regular release this year. bandai actually released a bunch of non gundam HG kits, such as 86, Dragonar, Kyoukai Senki, and Super Robot Wars.
Don't forget the HG witch from mercury kits.

Its an old kit based on a pretty bad mold. Don't get me wrong I love the thing- and until the Windam it and the Gunbarrel Dagger were the only EA grunts. Pretty sure just like me he's hoping for a "revive" Slaughter Dagger as its just some basic retooling to get the HGCE Dagger L/Strike Dagger into the 105/Slaughter Dagger.

@@somechinesedude5466 The problem here is they mostly make the one that no one wants a retail release and the one that people want the most to be p bandai which is when most people can't afford the fucking price tag or have no access to. So tell me, how the hell is Bandai putting kits that are out of most buyer's reach is going to help them make more money? It looks more like a poor decision making to me and most buyers.
I get that you want to defend Bandai for making stupid decisions like this, but are you really that stupid to not see why decision like that is going to pisses off a lot of their customers?

They are not competing with anybody, their rival is kotobukiya that after 1.5x price from P bandai, more or less put their product on same price, kotobukiya quality can be wonky depending on product

Not all P product are reproduced & sales will decide that matter, its to cut risk, especially during MG zaku 2.0 saga, do you realize how long MG zaku 2.0 high mobility has been dusting in retail shops? 4 year, 4 year and NEVER sold out
I can justify alot of reason & context, at the end of it, the committe & sales is what decide how things is distributed, as far as bandai care, overseas customer input is a non importance, their domestic customer are

P-bandai is a fucking joke, half the products on there aren't even 'premium', just regular kits with minor alterations or recolours, and the other half are kits of actual significance that have no business being limited run.

Boy I can taste the salt on this video as you complain about a lot of the releases being P-Bandai. All I have to say is quit crying. I have been able to get any kit that I wanted without a problem.
