Great idea.
Bonus Points if it plays the Thunderbirds theme as it ascends
A blue police box would be more apt :-)
This guy's patience, skill, and ingenuity is flabbergasting.
When this tunnel series started I kind of thought he was going to make, like, a small narrow tunnel, with maybe some wooden supports or something... but this is crazy, the concrete, the whole metal structure, lights, etc.
It's damn impressive.
He has to build it to code and thats what the code states
@@kenethrobert Yea, I kind of suspected something like that after a while when I saw the scale of what he was doing.
I'd imagine there's a lot more "official" stuff going on behind the scenes.
I think he just feels more comfy working with metal then with wood. Everything that could have been made out of wood has always been steel bars for him. Guess he enjoys the welding.
@@JoeBob79569 Yee he is in England. He probably had to go through a year + of planning with the local authorities before he even started. One of the requirements Im sure was doing it quietly as to not disturb the neighbors. The tunnel work is probably inspected very often too, slowing down the entire process considerably.
@@iSteve931 Indeed. And of course he wouldn't show any of this in the video.. It would ruin the "mad bastard" factor of it.

Giving the people what they want furze. Every. Single. Time. Rock on Colin. Love what you do.
Honestly, the most impressive highlight about the project is not the tunnel itself, it's the attention to detail and the solutions you come take the time to come up with the make the job easier and safer.
The only thing I might have done is left a conduit box in the floor for any power/data runs in future, unless I missed that in a earlier video.
He has a wooden floor a couple inches above the steel floor, so his hydraulic lines and everything else have a track to run through. He thought of that. :)

You think some sort of automatic spade might help? For loading the rubble into buckets? Something with like an L shape, a frame going down to the ground from your chest or belly, then a spade's blade sticking out across. Then the spade blade can be lifted and lowered with hydraulics or maybe a screw. The idea would be a lot like the lift part of a forklift, but instead of the fork, a spade. Idea would be to load the buckets or a barrow up with less effort, cos surely that'd take so much of the physical work out of it.
If not that, then maybe some sort of sling thing hung on the winch? Where you'd just be pushing and tipping rubble into it rather than having to lift the rubble into it using muscle power.
If not that, then a miniature-scale TBM with rotating grinders on the cutting face and a pilot's cabin, that runs on a railway that it lays as it goes. Contains 160KW of diesel generators, accomodations and a cabin for tea breaks. In fact 1 per floor. Laser alignement means you can keep it going to France and pop up in somebody's holiday home when they're not using it. If you don't like France, there's Florida.
