- With the release of the New Triumph Scrambler 400 and having tried the Daddy of the Triumph Scrambler range, the 1200 XE, i just had to try the Ne Triumph Scrambler 1200X. Shorter than the XE but with all the fun. Nimble, easy to handle and a well balanced motorcycle all round. Non of the jerky throttle of the T120 but all the character.

Look at you with your Triumph Scrambler and all those Yachts.......the name's Bond.......TAYMs Bond....Licenced to thrill 🤣
Do we really need indicators that cancel and do we need rider modes on motorcycles below 70bhp.
Is this a government tactic to tax/milk us via TFT.
😂😂😂😂😂 thanks Mike 😁
A distinct possibility 🤔 thanks MR 😁
Is that a British thing?
@@bobjohnson1633 maybe 🤔
I’ve owned 72 bikes over the years, everything from Fireblades to 1200 Ducati’s, I’ve owned my 1200X for 5 weeks now, it’s hands down the most enjoyable bike I’ve ever owned, the only problem with them is the test rides are incredibly expensive, ie take one for a test ride and on your return to the showroom you’ll be buying one! 🙂👍
@@1234567marks thanks M😁
Now that's a lovely bike and would be suited to many of the roads down here in NZ.
Thanks for all your videos. I don't always get to view them all but thoroughly enjoy what I do watch.
I hope you and Mrs TAYM have a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for 2024.
Thanks BH 😁 your support is greatly appreciated 😁 have a fantastic Christmas and New Year 😁
Thanks for another thoroughly engaging review Mr TAYM. A safe and merry Xmas to you and the lovely Mrs TAYM, from Downunder. Thanks for your unwavering enthusiasm throughout 2023. Looking forward to many more entertaining reviews and mutters in the new year.
Thanks BL 😁 very kind 😁 have a fantastic Christmas 😁
Nice to see the boat yard again [ or is it a " marina " ? ] . The Scrambler has to be one of the more comfortable bikes to ride , at least for this ageing old fogey . Such a pity that there is no weather protection , I'd swap out the big Tiger for one right smartish . In Canada the 900 Scrambler is roughly the same price as a V85 tt , whereas the 1200 Scrambler is closer to the Guzzi Mandello and Stelvio in price .
Bonnie engines are all the same ,the differences between the models are down to fuelling , there is a gizmo called tuneECU which can up the fuelling . I don't pretend to understand it , but apparently it doesn't give you any more power it just brings the fuel delivery up to what it should be . If you've ever experienced a 1200 Tiger that cuts out at low speed , you'll know what that means . There's a chart you can look at that shows the fuelling of several Triumph models , so you can see what the factory intended for you .
Those "sleeping policemen" are a ruddy nuisance aren't they ? Once they retire, the b*ggers think they can kip anywhere and you only know when you've run one over when you hear the " Ay Up ! " . Then you have to endure vocabulary vissitude of unendurable dastardly duration ,whilst pronounciation is pummelled and vowels are rolled hither and thither [ and sometimes beyond ] in the vainglorious but valiant attempt to avoid terminating the veritable video before the obligatory fifteen minutes have elapsed to ensure a meagre remittance for said efforts to entertain the, sometimes, ungrateful viewing populace . Sadly , a sleeping policeman's lot is not a happy one , m'lud .
Cappuccino ? Really ? You've been watching that FD channel again haven't you ? What kind of lean angle did you get from the Scrambler ?
Thanks DS 😁 definitely saved the best until last 😂😂😂😂 what a great year of comments 😂😂😂 simply brilliant 😁 have a great Christmas 😁
Great vid as always I like the way you run your Chanel very amusing I had an XE for two years but I couldn’t get on with the hight it was ok on flat surfaces but any surface deviation became a slight worry I might drop it and as for the silly keyless ignition what a pain in the ass it left me wondering if it would start if I switched it off and when I was riding it would often say key out of range Evan though the key was close to the receiver I was disappointed but I did like it overall very comfortable 👍
Yes, they have scrapped keyless now I think 😁 it happened once with me on a test ride, not a fan of keyless at all 😁 thanks AB 😁
You seem very assertive today MR T well that’s what my wife said🤫Merry Christmas to you and yours and thanks for all your work this year👍🏴
Thanks PO 😁 😂😂😂 I hope you and Mrs PO have a marvellous Christmas 😁
Marvellous bike, so tempted; motorbikes are like pets in a rescure shelter, I just want to take them all home!! Your'e a lucky man TAYM, getting to try so many different bikes! I have a deposit on a 400X for a second bike/winter bike but have decided to get a Tiger 850 instead. Didn't care much for adventure bike styling but have warmed up to them this year. A very Happy Christmas to you and Mrs TAYM!!
😂😂😂 exactly 😂😂 they all need a home 😁 funny you mention the 850🤔 being considering that very bike 😁 thanks SW 😁
That’s a lovely looking machine TAYM
Great job there and what a lovely place to take the bike for a walk round 😊
Bloody marvellous 😊😊
Thanks Phil 😁
Oh TAYM !!! ...what a Christmas present for me this was ! ... As I have said my previous bike to the CL500 was the Street Scrambler 900 ...this is its big brother , a bike I always wished Triumph made.
AND i've just done a bit of digging and they do a Low seat option bringing it down to 795mm ..fancy drawing my attention to this bike and saying you love it just as I had decided what I wanted to buy to join the CL ..It's really thrown a spanner in the works !! 🤥
PS have a great Christmas 👍
You should definitely go give it a go😁😂😂 I make no apologies for the spanner 😁 a perfect companion for the CL 😁 have a fantastic Christmas 😁
Yeah! I love my 19 XE as an all arounder
Thanks J 😁 Absolutely marvellous bike 😁
I've always thought of scram bikes as half way there between standard classic bikes and adv bikes as evolution goes. They made a comeback the last 10 years, as do the classic naked bikes too .. Everything is on waves in and out fashion. Next steps.. the 400 scram. 😁.. And Himy 450 😁 .. When ever I thought that you run out of bikes to test, you always manage to find some. It is neverending search for a perfect bike 😁😁 10x for sharing this marvelous and cool bike with the us, have a nice holidays with mrs. TAYM
😂😂😂 they just keep coming 😂😂 thanks Stefan 😁 have a great holiday season 😁
That family of bikes are splendor on two wheels going to use it till the wheels fall off bub......🎉
Excellent 😁 look after it better than FD and that will be a long time 😁 thanks J 😁 hope you all have a marvellous Christmas 😁
I got the 23 XC and I take it off road. If you're under 6 feet or 183cm and don't go off road, the x is best. The xe is just hardcore off road. The XC is such a great all rounder
It certainly is and surprisingly well balanced for such a big boy 😁 thanks BJ 😁
I wouldn't call any of the Scrambler range "hardcore" off road. I have a 570cc enduro bike around half the weight and even that can be a handful on the rough stuff. OK until you come off, then try lifting a 220kg bike off you when you're laid on the ground and winded!😂😂👎 I also have a Street Scrambler (900) and love it but may be interested in the new XC purely as a road bike.👍
Subbing, I ride a 2021 F-3S Spyder! It’s a blast!! 115 Hp 96 ft lbs! Plenty of power. All the safety too!! ABS, tracksion control, stability control! Cruse control, handles like a formula 1 race car on the street!!!
3 cylinder Rotax power plant!!!
Sounds wonderful 😁 and pretty low to the ground too I imagine 😁 thanks T 😁
Merry Christmas to you Taym. Thanks for all the vids and work you've done throughout the year. And a special thanks for letting us Taymites infest your channel with our photos. 😊
Here's looking forward to many more vids and sunny days. All the best.
Thanks EB 😁 it’s been an absolute pleasure 😁 hope you have a fantastic Christmas and New Year 😁 thanks for all your comments 😁
What a good looking bike! Love the gray.
I’d recon this model would perform well enough off road for what 95% of riders would ask of it.
I have the 890 Adventure S and it has been stellar for sensible off road riding. The only thing I don’t like is the huge single clock. But that’s just me.
Like you, I am a two clock person 😁😂😂 thanks PW 😁 have a great Christmas 😁
@@TAYM Merry Christmas to you, your family, and friends Mr TAYM.
🎄 🎅
Checking out your channel. Matt mentioned it in his. Looks really good. My style of motorcycling. From the hills of east Kentucky USA
Thanks SH 😁 not everyone’s cup of tea and a long way from Matt’s wonderful, professional artistry 😁 but still fun I hope😁
The ground clearance of the X model is more than enough, its 200+kg so its no Enduro, I managed to do good green laning stuff with my Street Twin 900 and with a modified street scrambler bash plate so with the X model it will be super easy and absolutely fine.
Thanks RM 😁 good to know 😁
I really like the idea of using the 1200 scrambler for a bit of long distance touring! Throw some panniers over, put on some all weather gear and fook off for a bit!! 😂😂😂
Thanks TT 😁 I think it would be very comfortable 😁
Love the Triumph Scramblers, looked long at hard into getting one, they had a nice red one in Taunton back along. Sounds sublime ☺- Merry Christmas to you and your family, enjoy the holidays.
Thanks Ice 😁 hope you and your family have a great Christmas and New Year 😁
Nice one TAYM, lovely looking bike....
Thanks H 😁
Good review TAYM keep em coming 😉👍🏻
Thanks HN 😁
You'll have to take my XC out, so you can compare the two. Excellent review as always
Thanks Steve 😁 email me your number 😁
Done @@TAYM
Another great video TAYM, Looking forward to seeing more in the new year. Merry Christmas to you and Mrs TAYM.
Thanks TMN 😁 and the same to you 😁
Haaaaa! The waaaa shhhhshhh b b bbbboaaaaaard road! Brilliant, many roads in Australia will now be referred to as such! Love this bike, ohhhh the sound. Ok, and lets face it when you brag you're taller than Kylie Minogue then you're limited in bike choice.
😂😂😂😂 thanks NF 😁 brilliant written example of the WBR😂😂
Nice review Mr, Taym, what a beast of a bike, if I was 25 years younger and 3 inches taller it would be the bike for me. Toyota HI-lux on 2 wheels, looks bombproof. All the best for Christmas and the New Year to all at the Taym residence, looking forward to more next year, would like to see more of the SV if poss.🏍☃🎅🤶
Thanks Mike 😁 have a great Christmas and more SV videos coming 😁
Splendiferous , have a cracking Christmas 🎄🎅
Thanks JC 😁 you too 😁
A fantastic video as always great review 👌💯👍
Thanks Frank 😁
Was tempted when I had a proper height one as a loaner, but the Tiger is much more practical as a two up tourer!😊
Thanks B 😁 yes, it’s the retro v modern, style or practicality thing 😁
Very nice bike m8. I'm not so sure with the single clock. It'd look sharper with twin crome dials, don't you think. Very cool looking, though.👌
Two clocks are always better than one 😁 even alarm clocks 😂😂😂😂 thanks IT 😁
Another lovely bike from Triumph, though it's surprisingly underpowered for a 1200, still it's got enough guts to do the job. I'm not keen on the single clock and whilst I like the dual up slung exhausts, I wonder if the pillion would end up roasted like Christmas dinner. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to yourself, Mrs TAYM and family.
😂😂😂 I wondered the same 🤔 thanks GW 😁 have a fantastic Christmas 😁
Bloody youngster, I passed my test at 16 🤣
😂😂😂 thanks TP 😁 well you look good on it 😁😂😂
228 kilos and feels as light as a feather. You sir are the strongest biker of all time hahaha Your not gonna believe this I just mentioned how heavy the bobber in on your other video. Bobbers are supposed to be light weight lol Mine feels as heavy as a horse with a jockey on board haha Gonna have to check out the Triumph Scrambler. Looks like a good bike. I will say this @12:20 Its a bit low for a scrambler. I would want that a tad higher for scrambling. That low hight puts a big limit on where you can go off roading. Good bike though!
😂😂😂 thanks BKB 😁
Wish there`d giving it a 19 front wheel for a more road based scrambler ! . Love your channel ❤.
A bit like the tiger gt v rally I suppose 😁 thanks RH😁
Well TAYM now this is a bit a beauty and I don't see anything to dislike, a very nice bike at a reasonable height to boot . I don't even mined the single clock on this one .How did you find those tyres for road holding TAYM ? never ridden on them before omg could this be another consideration when i've got the move done with , and I might be able to touch the floor 😂I really don't know what I want so much to choose from and so many to like .😂👌👍
Tyres seemed fine but I was only going steady 😁 but as I’ve just said in another comment, it would be between this and the T100 if I could only have one trumpet 😁 thanks Crumb 😁
Looks wise love it,but only 89 🐎 🐴 from a 1200👎
Thanks NR 😁 funny you mention that, I was thinking the same only this afternoon when looking at another bike🤔
You can get a front fender long metal fender extender for the Trident 🔱 which looks like it'll fit I might have to look to see if they do.I got just plastic febder extenders that adds 15cm of length but 20cm be better on the front which the metal one is.
In NZ 🇳🇿 in my day it was 15yrs old to get license I think it's 16 now.
Triumphs always look great & even the anti Triumph crowd drool over their quality 😂.
1200 be awesome but big step up in price from 900 if buying brand new.Alot of people who could afford a 900 new would probably go for the brand new bike rather than a second hand 1200 but depends on the deal & how bad you want a 1200 over a 900 cause you get a good used low km 1200 for price of a brand new 900🤔.
Excellent 😁
You can buy the high mud guard and turn your original backwards for very good protection.
@@bobjohnson1633 interesting 🤔 thanks BJ 😁
I love the new Scrambler! Pity it has only one clock, due to you TAYM we have a ’2 round clocks’ issue at home🤣 But this Scrambler would suit me despite the fact of only 1 round clock🤣
😂😂😂😂 would be perfect on those Swedish back roads 😁 thanks Lilian 😁
@@TAYM 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 It’s made for it!🤣🤣
Be careful at the boat yard, folks will think you are posh 🤣🤣
😂😂😂 I doubt it 😂😂😂 thanks AD 😁
Merry Christmas keep up the blogs
Thanks LJ 😁 same to you 😁
The Scrambler weighs less than a Super Meteor without the giraffe🤣🤣. A very well styled bike! Triumph make an exceedingly good motorbike👍👍. I think that it should taste like a Mr Kipling cake. 😁
I like that 😁 definitely going to use mr Kipling in future 😂😂😂 thanks GBD 😁 have a fantastic Christmas 😁
Thanks TAYM and Merry Christmas to you and Mrs All Year Round also!@@TAYM
Morning Mr TAYM. Lovely bike.
Thanks Ian 😁
Covering the number plate? Were you being a naughty boy? 😂
😂😂😂😂 always, if you ask Mrs T 😂😂😂 it was so new it wasn’t registered so was on a trade plate 😁 thanks TP 😁
Quanto è bella!!!
Thanks MF 😁
1680th 🥳 Wahoo.
Been busy with visitors Christmas ☃️🎄 etc.
1200 Scrambler has the flash Spoked rims but tubeless spokes go to outside of wheel rim not in the middle like normal spokes that need a tube & spokes tightened occasionally.
Pity the 900 Scrambler doesn't have tubeless spoked rims otherwise I would be adding it to my list for new bike in 2025.
It has the same clock or similar to the Trident 🔱 which does have self cancelling indicators. The self cancelling
indicators have 3settings & the self cancelling setting lasts 6seconds before turning off.
I thought Christmas in nz was next month u know how u guys get everthing up side down😊...u made it on the popular ytubers list I see.
@@daintree2455I don't know about popular CZcamsr more like pisstaker😁😆😂😂.

Yes, perfect for winter too 😁 thanks OTRA😁
Lovely looking bike 🏍️
Thanks TB 😁 nice in that colour isn’t it 😁
Interested to know your thoughts on the exhaust as compared to the T100 or T120
Doesn’t sound as good in my opinion 😁 thanks TR 😁
Hello Fro Australia Great vid on the 1200x is your Speedo in mph or kph
Thanks PTP 😁
Great review!
Thanks PP 😁
very amusing and informative review. but...is it any better than my 900 scrambler? which I love - a very well balanced bike. test ride coming up.
Funny you say that 🤔 probably not 😁 thanks MH 😁
With the longer suspension travel and 21" front wheel I'd say it rides bad roads better than the 900 SS, not quite as quick steering obviously but still a very nice ride and then of course there's the extra grunt of the bigger motor. I've had two 900 SS's and really liked them and now swapped one for a 1200 X. It's as near as you can get to a 1200 SS off the peg and that's why I bought one.
@@phils2180 excellent 😁
yes ;; you can have that ;;; i don't like triumphs , but that suits your needs , i have told mrs taym your having it --- from a distance , and won't let slip that i live in cornwall -- oops ;;;
😂😂😂😂😂 thanks for your assistance SG 😁 😂😂😂
Well that was a fun bike. Really like the look as the horse power and the getty up is perfect. Thanks for the ride. I was laughing when you were going down the wash board road and stated it was good on it as your voice was bouncing. Lol. I made it to New Jersey, two days 400 miles. Might try to do it all in one day as I did better then I thought. Just keep taking ibuprofen. Lol Merry Christmas my friend!
Excellent to hear you did well 😁 just take it steady on the return 😁 have a great Christmas LoY 😁
I am number 3. I am a number not a name😅
😂😂😂 thanks AB 😁
So, if you had only one bike, which one of those Triumphs would you choose?
If I could only have one triumph 🤔 for practical reasons it would definitely be between this and the T100 I think 🤔 thanks KT 😁
Large engine meagre bhp, enough I know but why not get smaller and lighter. Dont like clock, good looking in flesh but so many other better machines imo for a lot less money. Interesting vlog because confirms to me I don’t want one. Whereas many others u test I want one now😂
😂😂 thanks volt 😁 yes, only 14 more horses than my SV which is half the size 🤔
89ft lbs of torque. It's not a slow bike. It's also not for racing.
Wow! A THRUXTON I can see over the seat! 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂 like you can see over a Thruxton 😂😂😂
A scrambler...a 500 lb, 1200cc scrambler, big $$$$$ I don't think so!
😂😂😂😂😂 I know right 😂😂 thanks JH 😁 it a long way from the Honda c70’s we had as kids 😂😂
Must be major blackouts and communication problems in NZ. Bikes, boats and a train any of the above thanks Santa, one proviso no stink boat thanks and a train set would be just fine. Thanks.Merry Christmas all.😊
