I love this. What a time to be alive. Clean this government out and bring in healthier leaders for a better future for the entire island. We’ve got so much potential in the people from North to South and they’re not being taken advantage of because of stupid politicians elected since independence. Sri Lanka, let’s do better - for a better tomorrow!

Ok, this is all well & good, after the Rajapakse’s are ousted, where is the justice in this? We still have the debt of 51 billion! IMF or an external body of auditors to ascertain, where the Rajapakse’s have squandered the public monies! This is a time for change, for a young government to create an intelligent & transparent policies for the future of our nation!

None of these people speak the bitter truth, about the main reason for this crisis, embezzlement of people's funds by the Rajapakshas and their family members and government cronies, they have filled their coffers, if things go really bad and untenable they will leave the country, leave the people for the mercy of their own destinies.

There should be a political solution for the tamils. After 30 years of wars most of the tamil intellectual families fled to foreign countries where they`re descendants on average are doing exceptionally well. Imagine if the anti tamil programs through populist nationalist politicians never happened. Then the war would not have happened, these families would have stayed in the nation, money would have been spent on post colonial nation building, and the economy would have continued to blossom (as long as there was an extreme form of punishment against corruption).

A morally bankrupt country now bacomes financially bankrupt. In 2009, one hundred and fifty thousand inocent minority Tamils were bruttaly killed by the Sri Lankan army. The then defence minister said on record that he considers the hospitals in Tamil areas and designated 'no fire zones' are legitimate targets. These people celebarated when their fellow citizens bleed to death . Ask any of these protestors, either they will deny any killings, justify them as collatarel damage or accuse LTTE . That tells a lot about Sri Lanka. I hope the present government continue to rule Sri Lanka, so the racist majority can come to their senses.

the discussions are all centered on the economics and not the elephant in the room. Considerations have to viewed to the political eye-point as well. By having the IMF dictating the terms and capitulating the harsh IMF terms imposed, the politicians has the escape route by having the IMF as the "real" oppressor. That may be the very reason to announcing the default before the IMF negotiations.

I hope some people get it.. the people who handle the money first, always keep the most for themselves, if theres anything left, it filters down to the very person who worked so we can have things in life.. governments/banks, are not working for us, we are working for them, and i cant see anything out of the norm with this situation in Sri Lanka
