    This is most likely the best all time vido I have ever seen of someone tearing down one of these overdrive units. Broken down and explained exactly what you need and why you do it in easy to follow steps. Well done sir.

    Having looked at most the transmission vids on CZcams ( I have a 4 year degree in Industrial Technology and minor in television production from a major university) I taught high school and jr college welding and automotive 15 years) I have made my own instructional videos, had my students make instructional videos. This actually started in the 1970s. Then in the 1990s, I started teaching. Prior to that I had worked in the transportation and construction industries for some 30 years. Health issues forced me to recareer into education in the early 1990s. I was using cassette by then when most people didnt even have a video camera. My very first camera was a Panasonic B/W reel to reel deck unit in the late 1970s. I took a lot of horse shows and rodeos back then.
    So, my point is transmission bench has the very best education videos on here bar none! Very well organized and scripted! The rest of you guys just take things apart with little or no explanation and just throw the parts here and there. No parts evaluation explanation. The most interesting part is most of you dont even show re assembly!!

      I agree, and rebuilding my first tranny these videos give me the confidence necessary to know I can do this...I have like you said seen many trying to find a viable source of great detail and this is the course for me.

    Hands down best video to watch while also working on your own 46rh transmission! Step by step process and may sound like a silly robotic read me lines from the director type shit, lol but this is definitely best video to learn from and you can make fun of the way this guy talks as you go throughout your day.... lol.. FYI, Richard down at precision transmission, is hands down the absolute best at dodge transmissions of any kind.... the best mechanic for sure... thats precision transmission on CZcams.. I'm currently rebuilding my 92 dodge w150 with a 318motor and automatic 4wd 46rh transmission and I'm still in the garage after breaking a line full of trans fluid I got my truck home and haven't drove her since an that day was 9 months ago atleast. . . Its an everyday struggle having no job no wheels an no friends to rely on or count on. Because life us not easy for everyone. Ppl like me struggle just to eat. I work hard and smart everyday helping my mom with repairs on her hone and upkeep on the property as well as remodeling some all awhile being uncle Aaron of 3 kids she helps raise. Because my brother can't do it himself cause he doesn't try and well my opinion on my brother ill leave it at that cause tall don't want my opinion on a person uoeno yalll here for dodge transmissions haha.. anyways precision transmission look it up..

    Outstanding lessons. You really need to be some kind of moron to give a thumbs down to these videos. Iv worked on transmissions before and never have seen such valuable and thorough smart videos. If you can’t fix a transmission after watching this video you need to check your head for some brain damage. Thanks for these magnificent videos.

    You didn’t mention the tool you used to compress the roller bearing or how to make it even though it’s just three bolts welded together into a pyramid shape I just thought I would point that out so you could make the classroom video lesson even better

  • @battleshipnewjerseysailor4738

    In this vid the instructor mentioned that there were 4 places in the transmission that were under spring tension, this is incorrect, for example the 800lb spring in the overdrive section is a compression spring

    • @kevinmoncada5120
      @kevinmoncada5120 Před 2 lety

      He had to have meant compression not tension. Technically when you are taking those parts out they will go from compression to tension

    Hey first off great video. This video has helped lots. I have to ask though, when you said remove a thick plate or thin plate depending on the model, why is there a difference in plates sizes on the 46re? I have both sizes and I'm trying to rebuild a overdrive unit. One housing was cracked so I found one to swap over parts, But have noticed this difference. Is there any significance in these different sizes?

      I'm a few years late but a lot of people recommend shocking them by smacking them with a hammer a few times before attempting removal. Some heat couldn't hurt. You can also try tightening before loosening.

    i was doin great until i heard 11mm OR 7/16 inch , those are not either or kinds of tool but specific and different sizes, when you start suggesting things to round off nuts and bolts you lost all credibility as a mechanic with me

    • @kevinmoncada5120
      @kevinmoncada5120 Před 2 lety

      If the socket don’t fit just find one 🤷‍♂️. 11mm and 7/16 are about the same

    • @jaxturner7288
      @jaxturner7288 Před rokem

      Fasteners are generally manufactured with a tolerances allowance of 4-8 thousands of an inch.
      So, those two size tools are actually closer in size than two bolts of the same exact size are expected to be during production.
      For all practical standard purposes, those two hand tool sizes are interchangeable.
      Interchanging 1/2” with 13mm or , 9/16 with 15mm, is a different story.
      Trying to interchange them will sometimes work(because of fastener tolerances) but will more often result in damaged fasters. 👍
