I would argue that the fact he was suffering makes it even better. Now hang with me here. Sure, he was suffering, he was miserable, and he didn’t want to live. But through all that, he still tried to make people laugh. He still tried to make people happy. And by God, he did it. It may hurt to see him gone, to see that he’s no longer with us. But please, laugh harder than you ever have before. It’s what Robin would’ve wanted.
I have watched this movie so many times. I even have it on VHS still. Thank you Robin for all you did to cheer up the troops on USO tours and more. Have not seen anyone that has your style or ability to put laughter on so many peoples faces in just a few minutes. Thank You.

I just re-watched this movie. It was quite ironic, does anyone else remember about 11 minutes in Forest Whitaker's character told Robin that he might want to think about suicide O.O
The ending of this considering what happened to robin is even more sad & poignant. What a gifted actor. This role was the first that got him an oscar nod & launched him into superstardom. Yes he was very well known at this point but this movie really was the one that showed he could crush it doing both comedy & drama with that frenetic energy he had. I always wondered if the all the radio lines were written for him or he af libbed bc it's so quintessential robin . R.i.p.

In one shot of the plane in the air, it looks like a pair of loading bay doors open below the belly of the plane, and I don't know why this happens. I can't tell if anything falls out or if this was intentional on the part of the directors for these doors or flaps to move. If anyone has any insight into what these are or why they open, I appreciate it.
What I find even MORE sad the Robin William’s death is that THIS is the way the movie ended. With William’s character heading home after getting kicked out of the studio. It’s like a good guy vs bad guy conflict in which the bad buy (the studio) wins in the end. Robin Williams (the good guy) was forced to head home, despite the public’s extremely high demand, and the studio (the bad guy) has kept following its own crooked, narrow minded, tunnel visioned system, like it did at the beginning of the movie. The system hasn’t changed, and it never will.
Strange that San Francisco would re-name the Waldo Tunnel as the "Robin Williams Tunnel." After all, I don't recall Egypt renaming the Nile "The River Cleopatra," or New York renaming the Brooklyn Bridge as, "The Abbie Hoffman Bridge," and I doubt no where in Massachusetts will anyone propose "The Aaron Hernandez Causeway."
Want some cheese with that whine? As far as I remember, Robin Williams Tunnel came about because of thousands of petitions to the state legislature to have its name charged. I don't recall any petitions to change the name of the Brooklyn Bridge or the Massachusetts Turnpike. Given that Robin Williams started his career in San Francisco, I'd say he's more deserving of having a San Francisco landmark named after him than some asshole who ran for California governor and lost in the 1850s. Besides, Robin Williams is sure going to be remembered longer than Abbie Hoffman or Aaron Hernandez.

Finding out Edward was played by Forest Whitaker surprised the hell out of me.

Almost all of Robin's lines were ad libbed. As such, the movie did not get an Oscar nod for Best Original Screenplay.
