I would have to agree with Takuya, these players are absolutely incredible. "blasting" like that in the controlled manor is very impressive, but that's because I like contrabass and play the trombone. As a listener, I feel that it does not add much. However, I feel its the composition as a whole that's strange. Too modern for my taste, I yearn a sense of direction that is absent from it. It feels almost like.. "classical jazz" if you get my meaning.

It’s a very cool piece and I respect the individuals player’s abilities but I don’t enjoy the fact that all of the low notes are played as blats. It’s hard to hear to hear the notes and the huge sound I feel like the piece is supposed to convey. And I understand that clarity is something that’s really hard on contrabass (especially on that piece) but idk, it feels a little meh
