Bro do a video on Cartier’GOD. That man is literally ahead of his time so beyond his time. That dude literally started the whole water, drip, wave style that the industry does today, even the underground. #Oceangang does not get the credit they deserve and are pioneers of what we hear today.
Ocean gang 4 eva. #based #oceangang #futuristicideasz #ogod #sgod
take it easy zoomer love cartier but Max B is the true original wave god
I feel carti's recent features on pain 1993 and yayo have a strong cartier god influence in them
Imma be real tread needs to stay underground. Its one of those genres that can be vibes to no matter what, getting mainstream attention of it can only turn left destroying the community
Luckily for you the mainstream did not want Tread. It wanted Rage instead
@@illford6921 rage comes from tread lol. wlr is literally the culmination of tread being the future of trap. The drums on a lot of track from WLR reflect that tread momentum
Coming from being a fan of Purrp's PHONK movement since 2011 I really like Tread a lot. I only knew half these artists and am pretty hype to learn about the new ones! Kray and Oogie sold Tread as a sub-genre for me. RCB is a CRAZY example of it. I feel like Tread and Surge are a pretty natural progressions of Purrp's sound over anything though, a lot of the more wild examples in the subs sound like the 66.6 tape sometimes mixed with a bit of Cloud rap in atmosphere and sometimes a bit of Trap in cadence.
@xxoul xxeller for nearly a decade now I've been telling anyone who will listen that spaceghostpurrp is the most important artist in rap music. Without him thered be nothing.
@@OwenTriumph the most important fr, people don’t realize that blackland radio made a f**king Mark on the 2010s and is the base for almost all trap music made in that decade.
For real. Also when you look deeper into SGP's discography and the tapes he did around 2018, you recognize a lot of his influence in the underground and mainstream today
doubt rcb will ever have any sort of commercial success even despite the unique sound and all
Agreed. Always see people saying 'rcb next up'. They may be on the forefront of the underground in terms of pushing the sound but there is absolutely no commercial viability lol
@sadspacegxd Someone's gonna take the tread formula in about five or six years and it'll get a lot bigger.
Tread music was something the underground needed.
@@ThineLesser oh he a real one bcuz F1LTHY blown now cuz of the *latest* Lucki tape

Tread + Drill = Trill
@@startervisions i know man. Trill from like 2009 and tread was like 2017. I was joking. Not to mention drill also came out like 2010-2012.
@@skullsouljah2836 or maybe...trill is from 1993 and tread is from 2011

Hearing #rockoutgang for the first time at the beginning of the pandemic was so surreal...unbelievable
@@decayinsilence well hey then I guess that means we are everywhere lol
So something I want to acknowledge is that "Tread" as it was in 2016-2018 or so has kinda transformed into this new wave of artists making "Surge" (which is probably a more accurate way to label RCB than "Tread"). I see these two movements as having some similarities, but it could also just be a coincidence. Either way I want to recommend Dismiss Yourself's "Surge Compilation" for some good examples of how the sound has been shaping in recent years

BootyMunchers I may cover it eventually, but probably after it’s had more time to have a sizable number of projects to talk about
parallelalelalelogramm o word? Wonder what happened. I’ll replace it with the bandcamp link. Thx for pointing that out!
@xxoul xxeller I kinda look at Surge as the RCB stuff with Hex being the more lobit/crushed sounds of a group like Fax Gang (or all of those HexD remix artists on SoundCloud). There's a lot of overlap though of course
SOOOO HAPPY UR BACK
Your slowly becoming my favorite video essay channel, and that says something!
You predicted the fututre of rap and its on point. Its not really called tread but more like rage beat. WLR and Trip At Knight pushed the sound of rage and it will definetly be the wave for next 2-3 years, but it is funny that the ones who started this new wave was Working On Dying (mainly F1lthy as the pioneer of rage). Not only did WOD start tread but they also started this whole rage beat scene in the 2020s.
@@kurexx3424 when did i say that, i’m saying tread evolved overtime so it could make genres like rage
it's wild it's this direct lineage from reg to plugg🤮 to tread🤮 to rage ☺️ and also from reg to more aggressive reg to phonk and that energy also fed into rage
respect for making this
Thank you for introducing me to RCB my guy
They have such a unique sound and visual aesthetic. Love their song and album titles too
great video man!! rlly underrated im glad I found this
propz 4 doing this video; been on wod wave since '16 its crazy 2 see them working with uzi and all that
man coming back to this vid a year later and even if rcb broke up the music that came out beforehand was truly their peak. Rock Out Gang is one of my fav albums ever atm. Hi-Cs solo music now is amazing too and he’s proving to be one of my fav artists
On god this past Summer I was in San Diego and bought a bunch of brownies from a dispensary and had a religious experience to Rockout Gang
thus is so cool i can’t believe ppl are actually talking and acknowledging this type of trap omg i never wouldve of thought that this time would come ahh
its cool to see RCB getting more attention
I was planning on talking about the hexd genre as the first video to ever talk about it, and I see somebody stepped in. Honestly I’m glad to see somebody talk about this genre, because they’re so god damn underrated, they deserve so much attention.
how does rage sound like tread everyone says tread evolved into rage but i jus dont see it
so glad I found your channel ❤️
Never heard of these guys before - really appreciate you showcasing niche and odd sub genres because that is my absolute shit pls continue
Today this video came to my head so I'm back here just to tell you that this video opened my horizons 3 years ago. You put me on a lot of stuff and snowballed from there.
Really hope this video blows up
Tread is kinda dead now but it's showing massive influence, especially w WLR and all the copies of that album
i think there’s still some hope, people seem to be getting onto kray finally and hi-c/ rcb seem like they’re getting more and more recognition

Hook and Digital Nas are the also a part of the future of trap I think, :):):) also Lucki is lowkey apart of this too. Even though he's not melodic, he raps over a lot of WOD production with similar themes

Yooo I just threw a Working on Dying track on my playlist. glad to find this vid.
It seems like Carti is pushing a variant of this into the mainstream with F1lthy, so you may be right
goth money and rcb oh myyyy
Your videos are so good im shocked u dont have like 100k subs
It would be nice to see u revisit this and talk about the current state of tread and its deep rooted influence to carti's wlr
So crazy you’re talking about RCB I went to one of their first LA shows a couple years back and it was definitely underground both in good and bad connotations lol. Love their music still to this day. I’ve been delving into other music in the underground this year that’s similar sonically that’s *somewhat* like if dance music and tread had a baby. Artists like Oaf1, the group RudeClub, and Capoxxo have all contributed a ton to the sound as of the past year or so immensely, and they all are making this new sound that I haven’t seen stylistically approached since the Basshunter days of Myspace in the early 2000’s. These guys music sounds like a low fidelity take on the happy hardcore rave music of that era and its a lot more interesting to me and free than the “Hyperpop” / “Digicore” stuff thats blown up this year. I truly dont know what to call their scene, but I highly recommend checking out *Oaf1, RudeClub, Pvscale, Capoxxo, or Hinoni*
This is goated.
