The sheet Yoko is reading probably just says "Aaaaaaaaaaargh"
And Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh...ooooooooooooahhhhhhhhhh. Why didn't Eric step up and perform a simple 3 chord song.
I don't care how much you love someone. If you did, you would put a stop to this! This is cruel and unusual punishment for all those people
in the audience 😢😢
Totally blown away by the performance of the old time rockers, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. No one can touch them.
The John lennon plastic Ono are great, a shame they didn't do an album together
I love the way they end this, walking off stage leaving the guitars in full feedback. Brilliant.
The difference now is everyone is mimicking past legends.. eh.. Can’t take away the memories
Ich würde gerne sehen, wie: "Mal Evans die Verstärker ausschaltete." Light off I see, Abspann darüber cool!, doch the End of the feedbacksound is a fadeOFF into noise.
Rev

Done it as well.
And I've heard him count in
In German.
The sound of that feedback has a total vibe of its own.
I can never enjoy it fully though as I’m usually still reeling from the shite that came from Yoko.
I was there at Varsity Stadium on that late summer day in 1969., about 50 feet from the stage. No one knew Lennon and Clapton and the Plastic Ono Band would be there. A complete surprise. A stadium that could fit maybe 12,000 was barely half full. I'll never forget it.
I was there also. No mention of Chicago and is my memory playing tricks or were The Doors there also?
@@runtoeat Yes. Chicago Transit Authority they were called then. They and the Doors were both there.
@@Argonaut121 according to Wikipedia, if we can believe that sorta thing, The Doors were the headliners. How is that possible, with all these legends before them? I like The Doors, but come on
@@erichinton5774 Well, Lennon and Clapton and the Plastic Ono Band weren't even on the bill - they showed up by surprise. If, by legends, you mean Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis, I take your point, but remember this was 1969. The Doors had just released The Soft Parade. They were at the height of their popularity. The old rockers were from a different generation even then. And no one had really heard of Chicago or Alice Cooper yet. It was a very odd mix of bands.
John is playing his Beatles-era Epiphone Casino. It was originally sunburst. Paul still plays his live. Paul and John can be seen playing them on the Rain and Paperback Writer promo films.
Just John was using the Casino. George and Paul both have one, but in the promo videos, George had his SG and Paul had his Hofner.
I bought and still own the Plastic Ono Band elpee when it was released. I never knew video of the concert existed. Thanks for the upload!

To think all these Rock and Roll icons were the opening act for Yoko Ono
Weird - the Doors came on after the horrific Yoko set. They thought the system had failed because of all the feedback.
Great post. Historic and culturally significant musical event that needs to be preserved and available for everyone. Thanks again.
Even Yoko. For people today to understand among the MANY reasons for people back in 1969 - like me - to be totally put-off by her, and her negative influence on John, to the detriment of the Beatles. I was 15 then. It was painful to watch the Beatles come to an end, with Yoko's assistance. Even if unintentional, the end result was the same: No more Beatles music (until 1994).
@Daniel Golus Agreed Sir. Have a pleasant evening from Sanford, Fla.
@@danielgolus4600John and Clapton should have written the best rock and roll album of all time
I feel guilty watching this - don't I have other things to do? Then I think, this is the most incredible lineup! legendary, historical, mind-boggling.

Thank you very much for this video mate. I really appreciate!! 👍👍👍👍
RIP John Lennon. Thanks for publicating this video clip. Greetings from Warsaw, Poland
My wife of 30 years can't sing worth a damn either, but I love her so it's music to my ears...To all the Yoko haters, that's all this really is. He loved her, obviously a LOT!
And she actually sounded fairly decently on some of John's albums. Plus, she really wasn't as toxic as the media painted her out to be.
it’s pretty cringe to see all the hate comments about her performance, just because you don’t enjoy something doesn’t mean others feel the same! i think it’s pretty wholesome that they played together, and appreciate their forms of expression
John was blown by Yoko, because she comes from such a supreme / actually a royal family, with all the advantages like having had the best and widest education one can have only if you belong to the elite.
The main problem is yoko got john hooked on coke and kind of forced her music on John. I get that John would've liked it either way, but yoko was often very forcing anyway.
I love my pet gorilla, but I keep him in a cage in the basement and never let him out.
To think John was worried about sounding unrehearsed..
Chuck Berry.. Hold my beer!!
There's an old saying that love is blind. Unfortunately in this case of John's love for Yoko, it's also deaf!
@@user-vr9fw5my3tThe hell with that. I wanted to hear good music and I didn’t.
Nice to hear Chuck's guitar was tuned to it's usual not-in-tune tuning
Ya but he'll always be relevant and you will always be a nobody. Clown-show.
All in All, I'd say that wasn't the greatest night of singing these people had ever heard.
I love John Lennon.
One thing you can't deny by the way he looked at her he was truly in love...
Thank you for your post! It reminded me of the time when I first watched this video as a young person, after buying it on VHS.
I was extremely lucky to have seen and met Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis and Bo Diddley. The Mount Rushmore of rock n roll.
Gràcies. No havia vist mai aquesta actuació sencera. 👍
Could you imagine taking a date to see this concert. And although improbable if she had not heard much of John Lennon's music and she was subjected to the end of this concert, I just couldn't imagine the long ride home of getting the dagger stairs of what the hell did you just take me to.
She would've been stoned out of her mind by the time Yoko did her thing. And wound up being filled and sore.
September 13, 1969. Lennon had asked George if he wanted to go...but he told John that he didn't want to do the Yoko Ono stuff. Eric Clapton...Klaus Voorman...and Alan White became the Plastic Ono Band. A week later at a meeting at Apple in London on September 20, 1969...Lennon told the others that he was leaving The Beatles.
@@arthurdeth7646 alan white did some drumming in the imagine album too i found it fantastic that in so little time he achieve so much
I bought this album when it came out. I was 10 . It came with a calendar in the sleeve. I had it on my bedroom wall for a couple years. Wish I still had it.
I just pulled out my copy of the album. Nothing in the sleeve in mine. Mine has the Apple label, but was made in France. (I'm in the US, so it must have been an import). I probably bought my copy in the late 70's.
@@MichaelSmith-rn1qw I'm in the states and bought mine when the album was released in the states. Maybe the calendar was discontinued After 1970.
My record was too late for the calendar. Does the calendar have various pictures of John and Yoko ?
@@alanosterman7130 Yes it did. It had pictures of John and Yoko in bed in some hotel in Toronto if I remember correctly. They were from what was called a " Bed in" when John and Yoko stayed in bed for a week protesting the War in Vietnam. All black and white photos.
@@stephenflowers8516 Thanks much. "Bed Peace". Remember they recorded "Give Peace A Chance" in bed there, and Tommy Smothers was on second guitar. That was in Montreal hotel. 10 days in bed for peace. Started on May 21, 1969. This "one off" concert was on September 13, 1969, in Toronto of course. Because of recent drug bust of both John and Yoko on October 18, 1968 for marijuana possession, and John's conviction (not Yoko), on November 29, 68, paid fine of $360, he was not allowed in the US. But, by December,1970, they are in NYC.
Yoko screaming brings his songs down to rock bottom. Apparently he was at a point where quality no longer mattered. So sad.

I own several cats.
A few years ago I bought this DVD. I do not care for Yoko Ono at all, but upon playing this DVD for the first time, I was determined to watch it all the way thru, the Yoko segment included.
Several minutes into the Yoko part, my cats were clearly disturbed. Their hair was practically standing on end! They were starting to cry and began scratching at the door to get out! I am absolutely serious, I couldn't believe it!
So, I took pity on my cats and turned the DVD off. To this day I have never played the Yoko segment again!

Doors and Lennon on the same bill ✌🏼🦎👑
The biggest John Lennon's mistake was not meeting Yoko Ono, the biggest John Lennon's mistake was giving a microphone to Yoko Ono
He was so liked he could afford to give Yoko a mic. There was nobody bigger than Lennon.
Whats with the Yoko hate? What are you trying to say? Have you watched the Get Back doc???
Вы серьезно думаете, что это Джон дал ей микрофон?Бедный Джон! Будь он трезвым как бы все сложилось?
Most of the audience left during Yoko's part- they probably ran- the poor Doors who were the headliners had two challenges: the first is that they had to follow a Beatle, and the second is that they had to follow Yoko- they had an impossible task and a very small crowd remaining- they weren't filmed but you can listen to the audio.
Thanks for uploading this it needs to be cleaned up. I have this album on vinyl
Even though the second half of the Lennon set is fucked, I admire the level of Avante Gard.

The best concert Toronto ever had
I didn't find out about this Concert until I seen the album in the record store back in 1969. I had no clue that John put out this LIVE album.
Had no clue there was a concert? I guess back then they had terrible concert promoters. Just like " *The Concert for Bangladesh* "
I found out about the concert the following day, in the Newspaper! I live in Connecticut; it would only take me 1 ½ Hours to get to MSG
from my home... Sad. Now adays, you know years before the concert happens! Just that, there's no good groups anymore 😢🚶♂🚶♂🚶♂🚶♂❤
Yeah that's how it was, basically cheap and cheerful, could get into gigs 'on the night 😮
Now its like you gotta book years' in advance 😮
Paul McCartney tickets sold out in about 10 minutes!!😮
This is spectacular - the two chord Clapton/Lennon jam -- who else could get those to to rock out behind her mournful wail for her lost daughter. "Don;t worry. Kyoko………"
Jerry Lee Lewis is cool the music is very fast but that's ok I couldn't keep up with the music dancing tho
This is what I've been waiting for is John Lennon and Eric Clapton Ah Right John and Eric Rock On Luv You forever Chaps
Pure rock n roll, Lennon, Clayton, Chuck Berry and others... fantastic.

Greetings from the great state of Arkansas ,,,Towards the very end of this show seems more like A MENTAL BREAKDOWN Wow different
Rock n roll was a different trip back then
Unreal . Heaven's got a hell of a band!
Absolute genius of John to add a comedy segment to his show.
I don't find a woman mourning the loss of her daughter very funny but okay...
precious moment in time
She looks better under a sheet than standing there in front of a mic that is off for our benefit.
That last song rocks.
Lol! I scrolled up to hear it and busted out laughing at your comment! "Yee-eee-eee-ahhh-ahhh-woo-woo..."Yeah, rock on! Lol!
This is a riot. A riot, I don’t even have a word to explain Lennon, and no body seemed to pick up on this Riot. Lennon’s introducing a song about peace AND LISTEN HOW HE COUNTS, right before it.
Jerry Lee lewis, Chuck berry, Little Richard... Now that's a rock and roll show
That's good really good ono and wonderful lemon John.
The rhythm and chords to this version Cold Turkey 3:10 sound like... ready for this? Venus (She's Got It) This was recorded live prior to the studio version being recorded. It's awesome seeing Lennon debut a work in progress live on stage. (Yoko is holding up the lyrics for him.) That must have been a joy for him to experience! Seriously, when was the last time John felt that thrill, 1960 in Hamburg?
Ambos Genios musicales
Despite the amazing talents of Lennon and Clapton, the original rockers gave a much more polished performance and they looked good too
The band Plastic Ono Band was formed, literally, the day before the festival. They flew in the day of and only rehearsed on the plane without amplification and briefly when arriving at the festival.
Context.
After 1966, one of the few, if not the only live concert Lennon performed was the Rooftop Gig for "Let It Be". Maybe you can count the "Dirty Mac" thing for Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus?
He makes a couple of phone calls, "Hey, Let's fly to the Peace Gig in Toronto!" and rounds up White, Clapton and Voormann and they rehearse, without amps, on the flight to Canada.
They motor to the gig and plug in after Lennon hurls because he's terrified of live performances and they do this...
Yeah, not so polished but what an ordeal!

Where would the world be today without the magical ,inspirational voice of Yoko Ono?!!!!
on the album, durring the r&r songs and "yer blues" you can't hear yoko's screeching and screaming. thank god.
