is anyone else drinking a few beers while tearing through motors and transformers while watching scrap videos? great vid, some helpful hints too. thanks
Sorry - sooooo late again !!!! Hey - it started with a Transformer Bang - ha ! Yes - the new Lights are nice and bright ! Fantastic Explanation of the Different Transformers ! Potzing around - ha - we love it ! So stay warm and Safe and many Cheers from us in Australia !!!!
Hello Bert, Sweden here again. Guess what,,, I do just about the same with those things here 🤣 Language of scrapping is universal I guess. Sealed units I just drain the oil and get electric motor price for them, many of the newer ones are aluminium winding so that's why. I do get a lot of them. I also have a steady supply of AC/heater units so I am saving the macaronis for a full year and do something fun with the kids,, so far THIS year I got 3 lbs of macaronis. Stay safe and take care.
I liked the wall of transformers at the start of the video. Slow-Mo added all the drama. Haha. Some of those looked like a pain in the ass. Got to give you credit for the difficult work on those suckers. New lights look bright AF
Lights look great,..I found my self oddly mesmerized by the taking apart transformers, usually I'm about constructing things but deconstruction looks fun too 😁❤good thing to do on cold days
Dig the new lights Bert. Cutting up the transformers while the weather won’t allow other work is a great idea. But boy the struggle is real with some of them.
I have found that the ones like you were trying to cut the wire on are really easy if you just break the plastic tabs off one end and then all the copper just falls off that end.
Good break down, I use the angle grinder and cut ride down the middle of the copper, flip it over and cut down the other side and then pull them out , seems to work good
Cutting welds is good use of angle grinder. I don't agree with using blunt hammers on welds because you saw how he bent sharp pieces of metal at beginning. That can make removing Cu, which may be very tight, harder to slide off.
Great video really enjoyed that I always take my cut off wheel to the most of them before I break them with a hammer it's a lot easier than hitting them or cut the weld a bit put a line through the weld and it seems to break them open but I learned some new tricks today thank you. 👍👍😀🇨🇦
I enjoyed the video very much, there's is a lot of copper there, if you just take the time to get it. and sense there's not a lot to do right now. why not get all that copper ready for a pay out. keep warm and stay busy Bert.
Hey Bert! Based on your area, can you give us an idea how much value you're creating by breaking these up into steel and copper, versus just selling them as transformers?
Not all but there were a few transformers that were worth far more then the scrap value he got out of this not to mention that the Iron Cores are worth more then the scrap value. lamination steel, silicon steel, transformer steel, and silicon electrical steel have unique magnetic properties. You could leave the steel in tact and sell it as transformer cores de-bond the varnish and sell them as cores. I would love to buy the Iron cores.
@@ScrapFarm I wish the scarp yard would sale it to me... it kills me that I cant get them..... the copper is worthless to me since Im going to rewind it any how...
ive been using my lineman cutters on the windings. works pretty well as you have all that leverage. also can take bites if necessary. trying to save a litter wear on the hands.
You must have read my mind Bert; being new to scrapping I have just started collecting my transformers a few months ago and was wondering how to process them. Thanks.
Sorry Bert, but if I was homeless and living in a cardboard box and I had all those transformers and the tools you used to year them apart. They would be going to China the way they are and I would be in my cardboard box with just half the money they where worth. I would rather be putting together a puzzle than taking those apart. I don't care how cold or hungry I was, they would still be going to China for someone else to take apart so there not cold or hungry.
Yep there are some real easy and some are a real bitch that's for sure! But they do add up as u know! Sucks the weather blows! 65 in AZ today going to he 80 next week! Stay warm brother! Scrap on!!
makes me want to go clean some scrap! i always see the guys throwing out their pumkins from fridges and ACs and freezers. 5 bucks each or 20c/lb if your smart enough to put them with the specials.
Great job !! Well done Yeah I know exactly what you mean some of them come apart easily and some make you want to pull your hair out ,I made a little clamp vice which I attached to my 14" Ironton steel saw and If they give me trouble I just cut the welds or just two spots through side of the the E Works pretty good, I bought the saw 5 years ago still have the original blade in it ,I Cut 4" Cold rolled many times with it ,Oh a pneumatic air chisel works Fantastic if you have a Hefty Air compressor ,Just subscribed
Mate, at 31:32 that is dangerous to point the tool toward your belly, a slip could see an accident and possible penetration through the softest part of one's body.
is anyone else drinking a few beers while tearing through motors and transformers while watching scrap videos? great vid, some helpful hints too. thanks
Sitting here on a snowy, freezing morning watching Bert stack that beautiful copper... ☮️☃️❄️

Nice colection of transformers
Dig the new lights Bert. Cutting up the transformers while the weather won’t allow other work is a great idea. But boy the struggle is real with some of them.
I still would rather be in the house putting together a puzzle. I don't give a damn if they are $2.70 a pound.Hello puzzle.
Now the old Transformers toy commercial song is running around my head. Man, what a load!
Wow buddy... You've got some serious collection of transformers there👍... I've just subscribed to your channel😁

Very cool 😎

You have this down to a science
Nice Collection !!!
I use a chisel !!!
Thumbs up first clip was sweet lol

A saw zaw works great ...even a press with a blade
Dude the lights are so bright that my eyes hurt just watching the video!... Lol! : D
I live in the country no close neighbors real hot fire in the shop wood stove works great!
Put them on a piece of wire
Great video really enjoyed that I always take my cut off wheel to the most of them before I break them with a hammer it's a lot easier than hitting them or cut the weld a bit put a line through the weld and it seems to break them open but I learned some new tricks today thank you. 👍👍😀🇨🇦
Loaded truck 2 times yesterday (sunday) best day since October...gotta ton of transformers myself to do along with copper motors. #happyscrapping
Yummy copper
The Es and Is can be reused. They are standard size.
Hatchet works great for welded ones!
Nice intro man!
good tip on the lights! my shop needs to get new brighter lights
I think it’s worth it. Something to do. Kansas
Lots of transformers..... How long did it take to save them?
Most of the year....theres really not alot of copper ones anymore most are aluminum
I enjoyed the video very much, there's is a lot of copper there, if you just take the time to get it. and sense there's not a lot to do right now. why not get all that copper ready for a pay out. keep warm and stay busy Bert.
There's puzzle's in the house.

Little over triple

I hear you..... But guess who buys them all.... the scrap yard

Thanks again for the video. I don’t want to see you get hurt but I could see that screw driver taking a wrong path.
Went dumpster diving a few days ago and found about 150pounds of number 1 wire. I said merry christmas to myself
copper is copper get it where you can good job for crappy days
Oh no, Bumblebee!
That was my first thought too!
ive been using my lineman cutters on the windings. works pretty well as you have all that leverage. also can take bites if necessary. trying to save a litter wear on the hands.
Actually 4 common transformer types. Good video though
Demolition man! 😁
Loved the intro
You must have read my mind Bert; being new to scrapping I have just started collecting my transformers a few months ago and was wondering how to process them. Thanks.
The best way, is as is and take that money and buy a puzzle.
@@xanderzurasky7837 At least I still get to hit the puzzle with a hammer. :)
Hell yea!
Guten abend 👍👌💪
Lots of copper in most of them ! I just started putting the smaller ones in a bucket though, going to sell them as is.
I usually do that but im bored...lol
@@ScrapFarm 😂😂

Ok
i cut the copper on the arbor press and also push it saves me a lot of time with only the 3 ton press and a welded cutting tool in it
Cooper man 👍.
dobra robota👍pozdrawiam z Polski 👍
Yep there are some real easy and some are a real bitch that's for sure! But they do add up as u know! Sucks the weather blows! 65 in AZ today going to he 80 next week! Stay warm brother! Scrap on!!
first one looked like copper coated alloy
makes me want to go clean some scrap!
i always see the guys throwing out their pumkins from fridges and ACs and freezers. 5 bucks each or 20c/lb if your smart enough to put them with the specials.
That cool
cool intro. now lets see if informative.
So what you want to know...lol
Is it because it's #2 that it doesn't matter if there is still tape or pieces of plastic in the bin?
Ya at my yard
We tear these down at work but they are the big boys
The transformer guy
love it
Violence, I like it!
You funny man !
😁

You should make an unwinder out of a wooden dowel and a drill for the ones that you can unwind
The weird one didn't want to give in without a fight. But the outcome was inevitable and Bert won ! :))

We hurl ourselves down the road at 80 miles an hour everyday everything is dangerous all the time
selling used transformers is more expensive than selling scrap copper...
