But at 38 I can look back on it fondly and legitimately say it was a classic and that it’s better and more heartfelt than 99% of the songs today 🙌🏻

“You have so many relationships in this life; Only one or two will last. You go through all the pain and strife,
Then you turn your back and they're gone so fast.
Oh, so hold on the ones who really care, In the end they'll be the only ones there. And when you get old and start losing your hair; Can you tell me who will still care.. Can you tell me who will still care?”
Still amazes me every time I hear Mmmbop that the Hanson brothers wrote such deep lyrics at 16, 13 & 11

Same thing with James Blunt, who is scarily talented yet I remember countless times and people who bullied others or the singer himself. 2020 vision is easy to say "no one is disagreeing". But the further away from the 90's I get, the more this song refuses to age. Refuses to let me go. Instantly transporting me back to the 1990s. Unlike so many of the pop "artists" manufactured and marketed primarily for consumption by teenage girls, Hanson have always been a real rock 'n' roll band who play their own instruments and write their own original songs. Despite having continued to tour and release fantastic albums over the years since their "Mmmbop" days, the band does not receive as much exposure and publicity as they once did and still rightfully deserve because in order to maintain their artistic integrity they decided to part ways with the major record labels in the early 2000's. I am an adult male rock music fanatic (classic/indie/modern/progressive), and I am not embarrassed to admit that I have gone to see them perform live in concert multiple times since 2003. People made fun of these guys but honestly, could those people who made fun sing and harmonize like that? What was their talent? Not a damn thing. These guys are very talented and glad to se they still entertain. They are very good at that.

They lacked credibility because were very young, siblings and all had identical long hair. If a middle aged man with a crap voice had written those verses they would be called a poet.

As i grew older, this song hits differently. The lyrics are all about a circle of life called adulhood. 😢
I'm still playing this album 27 yrs later

The guys are friggin amazing, listent to the harmonies, connotations, emphasis at the right moment, voice control. and all that is live. the discipline required to get this right is unimaginable
