- Artist John Dyer first met Nixiwaka Yawanawá in 2014 and in 2015/2016 the two artists embarked on a world first by bringing tribal Amazon art to the world through a series of 'Spirit of the Rainforest' paintings that were exhibited at the Eden Project. Well over 1000 children also engaged with tribal culture through art and also exhibited their work online. The top 300 were displayed in the rainforest biome at Eden. John Dyer is now working on 'Last Chance to Paint' www.lastchancetopaint.com which will see him travelling to tribes and endangered ecosystems to paint. Tribes are fundamental to the health of planet earth as they are the natural custodians of 80% of the world's most biodiverse regions. Not sure if you will see this Nixiwaka, but if you do:
You and your people do have so much to share with the world and to teach us. Thank you for sharing your story, heritage, culture, and message.
As an American (Someone from a different country and culture). I wish I had the money and the means to travel. At this moment I cannot. Not yet but, one day I will visit yours and/or other’s tribes, both in Brazil and around the world to learn and live the culture.
I promise to fulfill this dream and I hope someone like you will be there to guide me. And teach me the ways of your culture.
You came into our own society & culture. Learned our language just to relay a simple but important message. You went so far out of your comfort zone and so much more. This has inspired me to travel and do the same.
When I am able and have the means I want to learn and be aware of those who I share this planet with. I’m sure there will be hesitation. But I am confident after seeing you and hearing about many obstacles and fears you overcame. Just to educate us.
I know that I can do the same by learning about yours and other’s cultures first hand.
In the meantime… Myself, along with many others will gladly listen and do our very best to respect nature and honor your people. We want to listen and learn. Please don’t stop spreading your message.
He is such a deep, old and beautiful soul
gorgeous man
the world should be leaded by people like him!!!

Glad to see he's still at it. I wonder how we can support his journey.
I do wish I could go visit!!
I did not know he has the gift of art among so many other things. 🙏🏼 These paintings are so vivid.
In most cases he speaks very much the truth that we've lost connection to the forest and nature and what it means to be careful with others and yourself.
A eco green society was always something we should strife for..
Instead of ruining tribes and stealing their lands, its better to document the tribes and their cultures and habits and their way of living so we can learn from them.
That's a lot better for us then just to steal and taking lands..
Collecting more information is better then taking from people..

Please guys, try to contact Jon Young! He could mention this wherever he goes worldwide! He also helps people all over the world to connect with nature! He was taught Native Apache ways & has a tracking school to teach connection & communication with animals, etc.! I think he is in Seattle, WA state in the US! He’s about 61 & has taught his children these things & is family to many to reconnect them with a sense of community which really is missing here! Jon Young, 8 Shields Mentoring Program! 🙏🏼
I am sorry the forest is being destroyed :( l agree children are the future with amazing medicine like yours.

Where we can . . . Thank you !!
Thank you Nixiwaka for this, for your message! You are right, we white people lost our connection with nature and our Mother Earth! I am more appreciative now, although I have always liked being with nature, the forest and mountains but our society, the way we are structured almost makes it impossible to be as connected as you are!
Some beautiful psychedelic paintings. It's like Lucy in Amazon with diamonds.
Where can we send resources or money to help you guys over there??? Im from Florida so writing the Brazilian government would have little effect I would think. However if that is your suggestion please include their contact address. I think many like me would love to help all of you. Please give us a safe direction to send it to where you the tribe will actually receive it. Thank you and so much love to all the beautiful tribes living the way we all should be.
Hello Holly, it is possible to send money to Nixiwaka Yawanawá if you wish to - the tribe would be grateful as they are under extreme stress and threat from many things. We can set up a page for this if you feel it is a good idea and then we Western Union wire transfer to the tribe. You can always email us at john@lastchancetopaint.com if you want to discuss this further. Take care.
