  • First in a 3-part series on the ZEEWEII DSO3D12 multi-function Oscilloscope/DMM/Function Generator. In this first part we unbox it, take a look inside, check out the UI and compensate the probes. In part 2 we will take a close look at the oscilloscope function to see how well it works and meets it's specifications. In Part 3 we will look at the Digital Multi-Meter and the Function Generator functions.

    I have had this scope in my Amazon list for like 6 months. Been waiting for someone to review it here! Thanks!

    I bought this scope a couple of months ago off Ali Express. It's still in the box. Haven't gotten around to testing it. Maybe this weekend I'll take it out and probe some signals.

    Seems to be good enough for the average Joe. I would still build a simple crystal oven based sig gen for calibration.
    You didn't mention the input impedance.

      I will be going through the scope specs in the next video, but it is 1M like most other scopes. I will be testing it in part with a GPSDO referenced function generator.

    Alright, some good information there, thank you. Disappointing that channel one is always on, that's a pretty big oversight - or boneheaded decision - but hopefully one they'll fix later.
    Thank you for the video, I'm looking forward to part 2.

    Can you review the FNIRSI DPOX180H, please?

      I would love to, but I don't have one. If someone can get one to me I'd be glad to give it a good test. On paper it looks really good though except the screen is very small.

      Update: I contacted FNIRSI and they declined. Sorry.

      @@uni-byte thanks. Their loss! How do you compare this to the 154 pro...I am only going to use it to measure the speaker our of home amplifiers to check for clipping..even at low single digit frequencies.
      Thanks!

    • @uni-byte
      @uni-byte  Před měsícem +1

      @@shaolin95 Well, it has a much larger screen, more memory depth, better battery life, a built in DMM and most importantly has two channels. This will be handy for working with amplifiers as you can see both the input signal and the output signal together. Other than that the 154Pro will do fine.

      @@uni-byte that is a very interesting point about seeing both input and output at the same time. Thanks for the tip!!!

    Software is the same as it's little brother the single channel version, at least the GUI is, and they forgot the ground spring in the probe bag ! see you at part 2....cheers

    • @uni-byte
      @uni-byte  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes, the UI seems to be much the same across their entire range. According to the documentation that came with the probes the spring grounds only come with the 200MHz versions, not the 100MHz. Not sure why.

    Looks like a decent little unit so far.
    Dumb question: What dif does it make if channel one is always on?
    Looking forward to the rest of the parts!

    • @uni-byte
      @uni-byte  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Sometimes, if you want to see something more clearly you want just that trace on the screen to reduce the clutter and distraction. All in all, it's not a deal breaker but just a little annoyance in this case. As I showed in the video, you can just move trace 1 off the screen.

      @@terrynicklin417 My Siglent scopes are the same, but not in the case of the little ZEEWEII. There is a CH2 button and a button to switch the controls between CH1 and CH2, but no CH1 button. Not to mention they state this in the Use Manual.

    Whats the price?

    • @uni-byte
      @uni-byte  Před 2 měsíci

      The price, both on AliExpress and Amazon seems to change daily. I bought mine on AliExpress for $90. It went up for a while, but then seemed to go back down. I included links in the description to both AliExpress and amazon.com so you can check on the price du jour. 👍

      Where do you think these brands come from, or components are sourced from.?

    • @uni-byte
      @uni-byte  Před 2 měsíci

      @@snakezdewiggle6084 I really don't think he meant it that way. Both companies he mentioned are US originated and based companies. Sure, they source components and manufacturing globally (including China) but they are still US companies. I think he means companies like Zeeweii, Siglent, Rigol, FNIRSI and many others that are originated and based in China are becoming more mainstream and making a bigger impact in the electronics instrument business with end-user products.
