- Restored and Colorized - look how fast fashion evolved from 1914 to the late 1920's! This was made in 1929 and looks back at the previous 15 years.
WW1 influenced a new line in women's style. Initially a military influenced style. Then gradually a rise in dress hems and more natural shapewear using the flat tummy corset. By 1929, the style was the gamine silhouette of the flapper.
We see some fine examples of the gatsby dress, evening dress and even a smart pajama suit!
The original newsreel footage can be found in the Prelinger Archive.

1905~1925 was a whacky time for fashion imo. We went from what we consider historical clothing (long corsets, wearing several layers of padding/petticoats, covered head to toe) to what looks modern to us (trouser blouse combo).
And that’s why it’s one of my favorites. It shows what was I going on socially.
@@yc2877 It was a fascinating time. A lot of my fashion history shelf is dedicated to this era.
To see color(ised) images or film is a real treat.
Oh these clothes are just glorious!! I have photos of my grandmother in long skirted suits like these very smartly dressed classy lady she was ❤
Love it! Thank you for keeping vintage fashion alive! 🍸
Gorgeous and chic. Amazing how a war quickly has an influence on fashion. Those three ladies at the end are the epitome of grace.
Those 1929 evening dresses. 😍
That high-front low-back jacket with fur collar is *everything*!!!😍😍😍 Vintage is so gorge💗
The only alterations I would make are slits added to the skirts for mobility.
Only 1 word 'Thanks" 💟💟💟

*01:27** In that time, Cigarette was considered as a health stuff (In 1950's Medical professionals found that Tobacco products contains certain carcinogens which cause certain Respiratory disorders such as Lung Cancer.) and smoking seems as a fashion statement specially for Girls.*

How scandalous! 😁
That first skirt looks so inconvenient. Every other one looks so airy and comfortable though
Much nicer for female bodies than the actual clothing! Thank you for the video!
I think you mean "current clothing". And yes, I agree.
Which decade? They are wastly different?
Love this! This is when women really cared about what they looked like in their day-to-day clothing and their evening wear. So much classier than what's out there now... Aaah, if we could only go back.💜💋
Women still care about how they look today lol
@@samsamsam4790 you're absolutely right, I care about what I look like when I leave the house, but like most people, I throw on a pair of jeans, a top, and a jacket, along with my chosen accessories. I probably should have written it as regards fashion of the day, in that there's so much preparation and care that went into the dresses and their fabrics, the makeup that they wore, jewelry, etc. But, back then everything was so different, and I think I sometimes long for that different time in fashion as well as life in general. 💜
@@ZainaDancer ahh okay i get your point. The way they dress does look really pretty.
