i know this is an old comment but I too hate the slow sims so my tip is to get them to fitness 2 or 3 and then they unlock the jog option which they tend to do automatically anywhere they go. I do this to all my sims and its funny because when I have weddings the whole family runs down the isle to sit and watch. sure you knew this but just in case it helps others.
I really need a new computer but I can’t afford it. It takes 30 minutes for me to load up the sims so right now I’m playing on my Mac laptop which works A LOT better I just wish I had a computer that could handle the sims plus my cc better :( also tysm for these tips!!

I know this comment is old, and I don’t know if you do digital art or anything like that, but I got my gaming pc years ago bc gaming computers are good for digital art since they’re built for heavy graphics. That kinda justified it for me, instead of just buying it for modded Minecraft.
I have about 75gb of merged cc and it really helps. First time it opens in 2-3 mins, but second and everytime i open the game after it in 20-30 seconds. I have merged files separated in categories (hair, clothes, make up, other cas, objects). Then in each category i merged it in more files (I put first letter of artist names, so its easier to find). And for some artist i have it for only them and not all on that letter. I did the same for some of cas too. For others i just made it into numbers. So i have about 100 files now. Also its good to have unmarged back up so if sonething is broken its easy to fix it...btw sims4studio batch fixes work even on merged files and fixes them :) you have to wait more but it gets job done.

The only reason would be if you have low RAM, low hard drive space or a bad processor and graphic cards and it is cheaper to up your RAM and/or hard drive than to buy a whole new laptop. If you have a crappy processor/graphic cards then you’re screwed (I feel you. I can’t change mine either). If its an integrated graphic cards (like most old intel cards are.) then it can’t be upgraded. I have over 4,000 pieces of CC including heavy mods like Basemental, MCCC and Wicked Whims (and counting). A HP Notebook Intel i3, 8gbs of RAM (I upgraded this from 4gbs of RAM), 1TB of hard drive (this is a 4 years old laptop. Laptops have improved since then. This laptop costed me around $600 brand new) and I have all the settings on medium except lightning and Sims details and my game runs fine and loads in seconds. It doesn’t run at like 100fps but it doesn’t run at 5fps either. PS: Be very careful when you merge files. If you’re not careful or really don’t know how to do it, you will screw up your files. Back up your mods folder before you try merging them.

at a certain point, just buy a new computer or laptop, remove cc or expansion packs etc. , i recently bought a new laptop upgrading my ram and graphics card.

I have played the sims for a while now and have gathered a LOT of CC over time! My game has now become VERY laggy and it’s starting to frustrate me. I play on laptop which does not make storage any better. I want to merge my CC together but am worried that it may ruin my game. If anyone has merged their CC together can you let me know if it has made any difference to their game. Also if I merge my CC together and am not happy with it can I unmerge all of it as I don’t want to have to redownload everything. Thanks xx
You can merge and unmerge them. I do it all the time when I want to delete cc that I just dont want anymore but I would suggest you back up your CC on a flash drive or external hard drive just in case (merging wont mess up your game but it can corrupt the cc)
NOTE: if you use alpha cc hair then make sure your lighting graphics are at least medium otherwise the hairs will appear shiny :))

As for showering, if you upgrade your shower or buy the higher quality/priced one, your sim will shower faster.
