They was unheard of back then. Glad to see them grow.
They were not unheard of back when Cookie Mountain came out Pitchfork named ir in their top 3 that year and when Dear Science came it, it was in their top 10. Everyone I knew in the late 2000's was listening to TVOTR. Saw them all over NYC 3 different rimes. Last time, my 4th, at the 2015 Gov Ball fest.

I love TV on the Radio, and right now this song/video is occupying my mind. The skaters are having a blast, and then you cut to the band, and they're like the Wise Sage in a Hollywood movie, who brings an urgent message to the skaters (and to us): Savor the moment, savor the light, because it doesn't last forever: "We are just vehicles for life."
As a huge fan of TVotR, I'd say that this was by far the strongest song on the album, it was instantly likeable and is probably the most interesting song lyrically on the album. It's a shame that their new stuff isn't as good but at the same time; it's a miracle for any band to produce two albums as brilliant as 'Dear Science' and 'Return to Cookie Mountain' as well as their EP 'Young Liars'; it's probably going to be difficult to ever reach that level again.
