- While Ellen White was living at her home residence, Elmshaven, she received many visions from God. Following these visions, she often wrote letters and books about what she had learnt. It was also whilst spending her final years in this house that Ellen White was able to spend many precious moments with her grandchildren. We see a woman who gave much counsel to the church at large and individuals, but also a loving and caring grandmother who balanced her work for the church and her family life in an exemplary manner.

Oh though I. Live so far away in Britain, I wanna visit Elmshaven before I get too old. I am so thrilled I'm a Present truth Adventist that just loves EGW's SOP writings( I stand in defence of them at any cost)

@Michael Heathman No, my dear brother. But l would concur with you on the Pharisaical attitudes found in the church, sad to say. But demons were the very last presence l felt at Elmshaven. I felt inspired by the Holy Spirit while there. After 47 years of Bible study and Mrs. White's writings, l have felt closer to God and have concluded, by comparing (and according to personal testimony), that Mrs.White was divinely led. My spiritual experience, since l have not been trying to lead any particular group, has been similar to hers in several aspects. No one uplifts Jesus like she does.
Unfortunately the church has been failing to "earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints" (Jude 3). She has failed to realize that the dragon, "that old serpent called the devil and Satan" has sought "to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus" (Revelation 12:9,17). But Jesus said that the commandments of God are to love Him wholeheartedly, and to love one's neighbor (Matthew 22:37-40). I believe that many Adventists are selfishly deluded into thinking that the Sabbath is the ONLY issue here. And many don't honor the Sabbath as they should. They think that making deference to Mrs. White as a claim that they have the testimony of Jesus; not realizing that many of us have neither "the patience" or "the faith of Jesus" in our hearts (Revelation 14:12). We should listen to the counsel given to Laodicea (ch. 3:17,18). "He that has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches" (verse 22).
It is a horrible admission, but l have encountered far too many SDA's who have been rude and nasty--and some "health reformers", all in the name of the church. I fail to see that apostolic godliness that could be felt in the ancient church, or even among the Adventist pioneers. A reliable test is to see how much they know the word of God. Mrs. White faithfully warned about this attitude. But alas! how many are not taking heed. If l based my faith on what l have experienced and have seen in the church, l would have left long ago.
"The joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10). But do we see that in the church these days? We see more dancing and clapping while worshipping, not knowing that we are following more of the Babylonian churches way...being the tail and not the head (Deuteronomy 28:13). Our deportment and dress has become like other churches, not heeding the divine injunction (1 Peter 3:3-5).
O precious brother, it is past time for the church to wake up. We are headed for a fearful crisis. Already the frown of God is upon His professed people. The General Conference of 2020 has been cancelled due to COVID-19--the scourge of God upon a lost planet. Had we been faithfully fulfilling our obligations to God (EGW/Desire of Ages p. 603) COVID-19 would not have affected us. Let's pray and study like never before. May the grace of God lighten your footsteps.

@Michael Heathman btw...just for the record, the stories are told about Mrs. White's feeling about scripture. Once at the famous 1888 Conference on Righteousness by Faith, the then GC president sent word to Mrs. White on her inspired opinion. She refused to respond, even after several attempts to get her to answer. He thought why wouldn't she respond to the president? Finally she told him his answer should be from the Bible, and the Bible only.
HMS Richard's father was about to speak at a meeting when he noticed Sr. White and her son and Sara Mcinterfer walk in. Pastor Richards invited her to the rostrum and requested her to speak. She asked him, "Did you prepare a sermon?" YES. "Do you feel that the Holy Spirit inspired you?" YES. "Then l wouldn't think of speaking. I want to hear what God has to say". Later she complimented him on the blessing she received, and gave him a 15-minute lesson on how to "throw his voice" to be more audible. He really appreciated the advice. Then he asked her how he should use her writings in a sermon. She frankly told him that after he had exhausted all of the holy scriptures on a given topic, then he MAY quote her if he desired. White,that I dont ve negative forces that god by grace, I never want a negative person to talk too because ,I might be not good follower indeed ,so I'd rather be alone that has encouraged .to listen to the lord that has been acknowledge his wisdom .so be in love gods way

All her children died it is written she had 4 sons no daughter and all 4 sons died very young the oldest died at age 14 so where did those grand children come from
She had a son that didn’t die young and was a pioneer for the work down South on the Mississippi River.
